Koji showing us all what happens when you get really, REALLY good at SF4... You remember that being a mid- or low-tier character specialist makes you inconsistent.

shoutouts to smug.

For the record, he fought that matchup about as perfectly as possible. Lots of prediction in the footsies (notice the very high number of counter hits) and good respect up close. A few more guesses in his direction and he could've won.

Koji's counter pokes were ridiculous. I'm so mad at how much mileage Justin got from Far HP. That move sucks

Unfortunately it was the unhype version of Double KO that only happens in SF4. Where the guy with round lead wins the game, never liked it.

True, we need more double ko's like the one between Kazunoko and Knuckledu. That set could have been Koji's if he had won the first game. He chose to do a condor dive instead of cross up which was the safest option. Not sure but I think he could have punished both a EX messiah or ex snake strike regardless of which one Justin used.

Seeing that match after watching your footsies video really demonstrated those concepts to me and also showed why Rufus is so strong in that matchup. KOG was trying to whiff punish or counter hit Rufus's fierce the whole time, but if it trades the damage wasn't worth it and if he guesses wrong he gets punished with the fierce. Plus. Justin was pretty good at counter-poking KOG's counter-poke with the jabs or trying to change the timings by throwing kicks.

Really shows the difference between his "walk backwards and make you eat 5 fierces before I get cornered" footsies Rufus vs his autopilot divekick Rufus he usually plays.

Same. His counterpoke game was ridiculous. If he'd done it a few more times in the last round it might not even have come to that situation.

I feel like ranking events should be adjusted for next year's CPT. It might be too early to tell but it seems like winning a ranking event (128 points) is good enough to qualify.

Justin Wong making dat money...

I KNOW The Last Emperor be mad...

Only a little bit.

For marvel, he got lucky cuz champ was distracted from all the losers who unnecessarily slandered him, even tho he has a clean reputation. Haters gonna hate, I guess

And for street fighter, there was like 4 people of worth there, like top tier. LPN got top 3 lmao

I missed all the fightan gamez stuff this weekend because I was too busy getting the clockwork classic 9th place at an MTG regional championship like a scrub.

What I miss?

Ogawa destroying everyone.
A Koji (T. Hawk) getting 2nd in Street Fighter.
JWong winning Marvel over ChrisG and FChamp.
Lots of cool MKX tech.

That's what I caught that was memorable.

I don't think it's good enough, but it's close. Really, it only seems that way because US majors are a lot easier to win compared to the Asian ones (apart from Abuget). There are 12 Asian ranking events. So far Asia has produced 2 different winners, Infiltration and Dark Jiewa. There are 9 ranking events in that region left. How many winners (128 points) will those remaining 9 events produce? Europe has 7 ranking events and the winner was Poongko. There are 6 left in Europe. How many different winners will that region produce? There are 5 more ranking events in the US left. There are 15 players that will qualify on points. If there are 12 different winners at these ranking events that means 12 players will have a minimum of 128 points. That's without taking into account players like Tokido, Poongko, etc.. who will travel a lot and have the potential to gather up a lot of points at premiere tournaments.

Justin is going to KVO in a week and that's also a ranking event. My guess is he won't make top 4.

Justin always about the MAXCPM

Dudes been raking in a lot of cash lately since MKX came out. I'd be in a rush to go home and stream it as well if I were him.

As for CPT. I really do think winning just one event will be enough even if the winner of any event doesn't attend any other event the rest of the year. I think the same guys will be winning most events and finishing top 3 which leaves less points for lesser players who always finish somewhere between 5th-13th place.

Yup. With the way the points are distributed, there is such a huge gap between 1st and 16th. If you place outside of top 3, the points you get are negligible.

What Infiltration and Poongko are doing isn't the norm. After Texas Showdown I don't see a reason for Infiltration to keep going to ranking events. He already has the most points with 290 or something like that. As long as he attends Prem. events he will gather up more points just by making top 8. Daigo, Momochi, and Mago haven't gone to ranking events now that they have qualified, but Tokido just went to Korea and he entered KVO to get those points. If he were to qualify I think he would also stop going to ranking events. The more those top players qualify, the more different 128 point winners there will be.

There are already 6 unqualified players with at least 100 points. There are 7 additional unqualified players with around 60 points already. Of those 13 players, only 2 are American. Justin and Nuckledu. How many different winners will there be on American soil once Snake, Dieminion, Smug, etc... all start attending the other 5 ranking events?

If you can't consistently make top 4 at ranking events I don't think they will get in. Only the top 3 spots give out a good amount of points at ranking events. Players like Tokido, Sako, Fuudo, Kazunoko, etc... should be the least worried as they're good enough to win prem. events and they travel more than a lot of their fellow countrymen.

Tokido, Fuudo and Kaz are probably guaranteed because they travel a lot, Sako though... Depending on winning a prem is a huge risk this year, there won't easy perms until we get to a point where most of top 8 are perm winners.

Final Round wasn't interesting to you? Bruh, that top 16 was insane.
I generally don't find Street Fighter interesting, so I might not have watched it. I don't watch streams very often. /shrug I tuned in this time solely for Ogaownage, and decided to stick around for the rest since I had school work to procrastinate on. Dhalsim and T. Hawk were hype, though Koji walking into Rufus' c.HP so many times made me sad.

KVO is this weekend btw,

Ultra: Tokido, Itazan, Nemo, KojiKOG, Anton (gouken), KOK, Gachikun, RF, Misse, Shiro, Pepeday, Kindevu, Kindo, Eita, Dogura, Kazunoko, Reiketsu, Taiga, Inco, Oitajin, Haitani, Tonpy, Kawaguchi, Akimo, Bonchan, Kyoku, Nishikin, Mizoteru, and fubarduck.

Sako already has 64 points. He can easily travel overseas 3 or 4 times and get a lot of points because of how good he is. Americans will have a hard time because Asians might just end up having an epiphany and saying fuck the Asian ranking events filled with killers and go to the US to pick up points.
