You say this is a hub thread but is it really?
All this "Fuck Anime" business is certainly not helpful. Before BBCPEX came out I remember that the Chronophantasma thread had more discussion about news and updates of the game than FGW.

All this "Fuck Anime" business is certainly not helpful. Before BBCPEX came out I remember that the Chronophantasma thread had more discussion about news and updates of the game than FGW. I certainly remember random bits and mentions in FGW without any actual detail and news and you had to go to the game OT threads to actually find more detailed and useful information.
iOS is a single platform. Steam is a single platform. PS Vita thread is a single platform.
This thread has multiple platforms, a huge number of different games, and a gigantic variety of events that encompasses it.
The "Fighting Games Community" does not exist. That is the problem. It's a collection of a TON of subcommunities lumped together under a banner. Look at how many people played only 1-2 games at EVO. This is why having a single hub thread for current events is so useful, and why the thread ended up becoming this way in the first place.
Agreed. The negativity coming out of here at Anime fighters has always bothered me...especially when you realize the BULK of fighters currently on the market are leaning towards anime titles. How was it ever helping folks get interested in Fighting Games if we shutdown half the potential market? Its why I try to make a point of pushing information whenever I run into it about just what is out there that folks don't hear about because its in an anime fighter. Its exciting and its fun. Sharing things that are fun and exciting in fighting games is what I think people want to tune into the FGW threads in order to find. I doubt it ever made folks happy that like anime and anime fighters to click and see fuck anime gifs and quotes all the time. Discussion thins when you chase people out of conversations simply because you prefer other games. Accepting that FGW may end up talking at length sometimes about games you don't play is part of what having a catch all thread is supposed to support. Not doing that...hurt it.You say this is a hub thread but is it really?

Yes, you need to go to the game's OT to get more detailed information, that's how it should be.You say this is a hub thread but is it really?

VITA/PS4/XBOX all have their own threads- platform based threads are a thing, iOS/Steam are just two additional ones.Like all the genres of games on Steam and iOS?
So if we all agree to behave and not get out of topic we can go back to gaming? Seems like a good deal to me.
Ok let me rephrase that.Yes, you need to go to the game's OT to get more detailed information, that's how it should be.
He never said that.
Its not feasible. But isn't that the real problem?
And how many of us would like that deal?

Yes, a fast-moving thread that's focused on current events is not a good idea if you want a deep overview of the next expansion of a game.Ok let me rephrase that.
Any information.
Because that was the case at the time.

It would be an error in judgment on Bishop's part. We'd never hold to it. Hell, "we don't want to go back to community" would become a running joke. But isn't that the real problem?

That's not controversial at all.But to throw a controversial one out there: I think the general quality of threads and posters is much higher on the community side. Community threads are about maintaining close-knit communities, both for good and for ill, as opposed to legions of people trying to get a good joke in on the first page of big thread so they can get quoted for 15 pages. And you know what, I think this thread does better justice to fighting game discussion than any other front page gaming thread because it acts like a community-side thread
If you want visibility and lively discussion then why don't we just all move over to reddit
That's not borne out by the actual metrics, GB. There are many Community threads that enjoy massive page views and regularly welcome new blood despite what you're hypothesizing.

I agree with that. It's here because otherwise the front page would be a sea of popular OTs where news would struggle to exist.
I see this as a news ticket thread that absolutely belongs in Gaming because it's not a long-term thread about a specific title/platform/etc.
Moving this thread into OT seems to be based on having a fundamental misunderstanding of what this thread does.

Maybe it's the teacher in me, but "please just one more chance don't send me to the principal's office" seems like a bad plea to make.
We dont...but you know that many had to. Neither of us give a fuck what people think but many get intimidated by the kind of environments that these threads had at times over anime. It really needs to end no matter where the thread ends up.
Lol has that ever stopped me from posting about BB or GG
Nope, you guys shouldn't take shit like that seriously
Out of curiosity, what times were those event taking place? Because despite an event being a CPT ranking event, GAF is still a US-centric board.I agree with that.
I tried to create a thread for both FV Cup (CPT ranking event) and VS Fighting (CPT ranking event) and there was barely 40 posts, most of me was bumping the thread to try to make people aware that certain matches were starting. (Pools, top 8, etc). Most of the actual discussion happened in this thread itself.
I asked the next week if somebody was going to make a Taiwan Fighting Major (CPT ranking event) and somebody replied that most of the discussion would happen in FGW. They were right.
Now, I'll probably make a thread for Summer Jam and whatever else is happening this weekend and consider making a new tournament thread each weekend simply because with FGW in community now, there is a need now for that sort of thing than ever before.
It'll likely only get 10 people posting in the thread, but eh. That's the result of what's happening.
Does anyone know which twitch channel streamed Smash 4 for EVO 2015? I was out of town that weekend and now I want to watch some Smash 4 with customs, so I'm hoping the past broadcasts are available to watch.

Probably shouldn't keep speaking for a banned personShin says he gets banned and thread moves to community.

Did evo do the thing again where if you didn't subscribe for evo you didn't get access to archives?

I can recall a particular time I almost stopped posting in here and this was like less than four months ago. Anime van is funny enough now.Time to ban the anime van
RIP MiniBossBattle
Who are exciting for next reveal for SFV? I heard that we are going to get something news in two weeks?
There's no fucking way I'm gonna stay up until 3-4 am for a tournament stream, let alone discuss it on GAF. You gotta be kidding.FV Cup was in Malaysia. FV Fighting was in the UK. And Taiwan Major was in Taiwan. Most of the US were sleeping during FV Cup and the Taiwan Major, true. But they had the best competition, and the youtube videos went up quickly after the event. But there was still little discussion outside this thread.
In my opinion, there's no excuse for people not paying attention to the FV Fighting though. The UK is only 4 hours ahead of the east coast, and 7 hours ahead of the west coast, so the majority of U.S. posters would have been awake for at least some part of the tournament. And FV Fighting had MKX, Smash Wii U, and Guilty Gear Xrd, among other games. And still little to no discussion in the thread made for it.
We'll see with Summer Jam since that's the biggest major since Evo in the U.S. it's sort of the kick off to the 2nd FGC events until Capcom Cup. I doubt that there'll be much discussion though if FV Cup, and VS Fighting thread is any indication.
Smash 4 isn't in the past broadcasts of srkevo4 though. Maybe they got archived on a youtube somewhere?
It's still not nearly as bad as the crap you would get for posting about something like Eternal Fighter Zero or Melty Blood on the oooooooold SRK forums... but that doesn't make it acceptable. We dont...but you know that many had to. 3 weeks. Tokyo Game Show is on 09/17-09/20.

well I mean that was mostly miniboss, karst, beef, and gb at times. It becomes easy to learn who to ignore fast when it comes to certain topics. And they pretty much shaped up about itSame. I disappeared for a pretty long while. Stayed on Test Your Might mainly. Even if its "jokey" it still effectively shut out any conversations fast that were happening on various titles. Some games would just get mocked out of the main conversations "jokingly" till folks could go back to talking about non anime fighters. Honestly this used to be the way Smash Bros was treated too up until around when it competed with Skullgirls to get back into EVO with a fund raising race and the resurgence hit.
