Since there is a new fighting game coming out this week it's time for...

Most Anticipated: Jacqui Briggs is going to be who I try immediately. She's one of the characters I dig the most conceptually and aesthetically, and she looks really fun to play too. That High Tech variation.

I'm also looking forward to checking out Takeda, Ferra/Torr, and Goro. Erron Black is a character whose aesthetic I love and am looking forward to seeing other people kick ass with, but I'm not really interested in playing as him myself.

Least Anticipated: I'm a little worried that I'm going to see waaaay too much of does-damage-by-being-next-to-you Reptile online and in tournaments. Novice players are going to realize how good and easy it is and then I'm going to drown in green scales.

Story-wise I'm disappointed that Liu Kang is back but not as a vengeful Fire God.

Tanya would have been on my Most Anticipated list if NRS didn't whitewash her.

Meanwhile, I'm playing ranked on MKX without lag for like... 10 matchs ? But yeah netcode for this unreleased and not yet populated game is ass and all.

Melee a great game, but the online community for Melee is seriously dumb at times for it. When you have people in the Melee community non-ironically calling Smash 4 'Tr4sh' and trying to create change.org petitions because the latest Smash major has Smash 4 instead of Project M, then I have to wonder when some people have lost their goddamn minds.

uh

I'm fairly sure that would be the Project M community, not the Melee community

MvC2 was already dead. New stuff wasn't being found, and the same players were winning everything. The game only allowed 6-7 characters playable at the highest levels. Totally different situation from SF4 when SF5 will be released.

I dunno. I was at Seasons Beatings about 2 months before MvC3 dropped. MvC2 looked pretty lively there.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that kills Marvel is new Marvel.

Marvel 2 still has some life in it - it still shows up at tournaments every now and then, and the top players still play and stream it. Yipes and Sanford still play it and stream it, Justin does as well. And I'm talking recent as well too.

Just read the results of the Topanga tournament over the weekend. Not gonna spoil for anyone who still wants to know, but it's a shame that everyone didn't get to watch the top 5+ Street Fighter IV players in the world clash again. They're actually the only ones to get me to watch the game anymore actually.

Random Smash 4 related question: From a Melee/Brawl background, Smash 4 looks oddly "snappy" to me. Is this anyone else's experience?

Also Smash 4 Jigglypuff eyes are f****ng scary. They just look odd and soulless.

The game is faster than Brawl, but its feeling of precision is marred by a heavy input buffer in terms of its movement. Pretty much killed the game for me.

I'm intrigued, how did they do that?

Forces fullscreen or something when playing online, so people can't use screensize exploits.

Game does not reward autofire, execution of stuff and how it's handled doesn't give benefits to macros.

There will most probably be an option to turn off playing against PC/PS4 players.

Which means a few bad apples could ruin the concept of crossplay.

Your experience does not necessarily equal the experience others are having. Just because you've played 10 matches of lag free MKX does not all of a sudden mean the game is fine. I am not sure what you are trying to imply. I have experienced the issues first hand and have had several other well trusted people document the same.

I am not going to say the game is ass and let's all jump ship but I am not going to lead people into believing the net code for the game is fine when it isn't. I am glad you are having a nice experience so far but a large amount of us are not.

I will be more than happy to sing it's praises on release date and after if things are better once the game is more populated. Right now it isn't, for me.

Daigo is 33 turning 34 this year and I think Sako is 2 years older. So he's either 35 or 36 right now.

Mago is also 30 years old now and I think Gamerbee is 32 or 33.

Gamerbee is the same age as Valle. Nemo is also 30 years old. Justin Wong is also turning 30 this year. I don't know his birthday but Fuudo is the same age as Jwong. Ken from Melee fame is turning 30 too.

Erron black, kotl Kahn and takeda reptile and quan chi. Even Kano's grapple stance looks cool.

Only one that doesn't look appealing to me is ferra tor.

This is one of the first Mk games where there are so many characters I want to try out.

Oh and predator of course.

Yeah this was a big sticking point for me too. Input buffer and lack of movement options make the game feel so boring. Its fun farting around with friends but id never play it compeditively like Melee or Project M. Unless tournament players discover more to the game Im dissapointed with it so far.

Lmao no wonder Japan is better than America. These dudes have no lives and play video games all day. Imagine being in your 30s and you haven't contributed anything to the world other than playing a game lmaooooo

Except Daigo. Who we know is in the medical field if I'm not mistaken. So...there's that.

There's a CFL Melee group for the Orlando/Central Florida area. It was being used for discussion of all Smash games: 64, Melee, Brawl, PM, and 4.

The constant hate of 4 got so bad that ultimately someone made a second group: CFL Smash 4/PM. The discussion moved, but the hate stayed. We have a weekly Smash tournament series. Previously, it was Melee on one side of the room, PM on the other, but when Smash 4 came out, it replaced PM. Then Evo announced customs, so they switched to a customs tournament, but the first week of that was a holiday, so attendance was low. Attendance didn't pick up the following week, either (only one guy brought a setup, so there was no tournament). So someone in the CFL Melee proposed replacing Smash 4 altogether with PM again, posting a poll seemingly showing community consensus on that idea.

Even though attendance had only been low for two weeks, after a format switch. Melee players hate Smash 4 so much that they just literally don't even wanna be in the same room as it. It's a damn shame.

Pretty sure Gamerbee and Ryan Hart are amongst the older crowd. I'm 32, I know they both are a few years older than I am.
