Fighting Games Weekly | April 1-7 | And after 0-3, he has risen

What is the coolest looking version of the Raging Demon

discuss
Pre-MvC2 Dark Sakura
SFIV Akuma
The Rest

EDIT: Actually forgot about the UMvC3 one LOL. That probably goes above SFIVs, though I do like SFIVs. Capcom just has a habit of choosing shit hit effects over the years.

Just wanted to leave the first bit of Minionry for a new FGW thread here.

This is truly the best tier list.

Take notes, F. Champ.

my final round hero is definitely kane blue river. wish he lived in socal so i could play him at super arcade. socal is really starting to fall behind everybody else.

Aris kinda clarified his WNF ban on his stream. Said someone from Twitch notified Valle that they heard Aris say something on stream that they didn't like, and Valle decided to ban him from commentary. Nobody knows what was actually said that alerted any suspicion though. Aris was also told (pre-ban) that cursing on stream was ok, so it probably wasn't general foul language. Also said that a long time ago he was told he couldn't say things like "put a foot right up their ass", so all this stuff is really weird still.

Supposedly it was because Aris complained on stream that Twitch hadn't been paying Levelup their ad revenue.

Full results for most of the games are now up on the Final Round site.
Unless Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 were much bigger than Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Version 2012, it looks like this year might have seen fewer numbers for the games overall.

Those SC5 numbers are disappointing, if it didn't get a spike. In the same league as MK9 which is fairly old and barely above DOA5, when DOA has always had relatively low numbers.

Another dark age approaches!

There'll still be Tekken and MK. Pray for Avengers 2 to come out sooner or X-Men gets returned to Marvel (soon enough "perpetuity" is getting challenged). Then MvC4.

I'm still surprised DOA5 got a 5k pot bonus. Anyone know the winnings of AE and UMVC3? JDCR made insane amount of bank with the 5k bonus from Namco-Bandai.

A lot of SC specialists just kind of stopped playing the game all together. MK will always have players.

Tied for 65th place in SF4, AWWWW YEAH

I think attendance was down a bit or maybe their were just more players spread out among the different games. Who knows since they don't announce total number of entrants. Pre-reg numbers were 309(I think) for Marvel 3, 258 for SF4, and 193 for TTT2. If Marvel and Tekken increased by the same percentage as SF4 then Marvel would have 366 and Tekken would have 229. I'm sure Marvel was a little bigger, but I would find it very hard to believe if Tekken had more than SF4. That would require a ton more non pre-reg players compared to what SF4 had. That 512 cap was just that, a cap. I said before that I'm pretty sure no game came close to that cap and I'm sticking with it. I don't think Marvel broke 400 nor do I think Tekken broke 300.

EDIT: Pre regs for SFxT was 131, final number was 163. So it had a slightly bigger increase then SF4 percentage wise. But still, that should say the same about the other games so I'm not expecting 300 Tekken players to show up and sign up for late registration and the same goes for Marvel having at least 200 do the same.

The "dark age" of fighting games was great.
We got stuff like Guilty Gear XX, Arcana Heart, Melty Blood, SNK made games besides The King of Fighters, and The Rumble Fish.

The FGC is on a decline (or on the verge of a decline) in general IMO. Numbers will probably go down more then flatten out somewhere until the next wave of huge-name fighters (SF5, etc) come in a year or four.

I think this year's Evo will see growth though.

By the time the games of 2012 are surpassed in terms of quality and quantity, most of us will be in retirement homes, and the FGC will have a Seniors tour.

Also, I think that had an impact of what folks play as well- many folks are satisfied with what's out there now, and publishers know the market got oversaturated last year- this is why I think Injustice is going to flop (BBCP will do ok by the standards of anime games though- anime game crowd is going to support their games boom or bust)

How many times were various teams/characters supposed to counter Chris G?
The earliest I can remember people saying this was the case with Storm after CEO, then there was MODOK, then Strider, then some other stuff.

I got a lot of match footage of KBR recorded from Thursday night when he was in here running a train on everyone before I had my actual stream going. I'll try to upload that in the next few days.

I've seen him at super arcade a few times a couple weeks ago. Those were on SF nights, though.

A pity, he's the only reason I watch that stream.

If Steam gets it's shit together regarding support for Japanese gaming then I can stay in this dark age forever.

Anime thrives in the dark ages lol. Injustice is going to be coming out as next gen burns out like a match in a vacuum. Namco would be smart to move TxSF for next gen.

I am going to a pre-release event for Injustice tomorrow. If it is anything like the other UK pre-release events I have been to, I will get a tonne of time with the game. :) I remember Capcom UK letting the Manchester Gamerbase do a SSF4 pre-release event on final version disks a month early... and then letting us keep the disks. Four weeks of us being the only place in the world you could publicly play SSF4.

I will give my live impressions as best I can here and in an article on JetUpper/UKFGC on Wednesday.

I just watched SFxTK top 8. Great play and tense matches man. That last round when Seth drop the combo at the end before the kill combo, I thought he blew the match. Combo getting hype was good too. Him and Infiltration were going back and forth.

Super Street Fighter IV AE v.2012 (306 players)
Street Fighter x Tekken v.2013 (163 players)
King of Fighters XIII (102 players)
Persona 4 Arena (96 players)
Soul Calibur 5 (72 players)
Mortal Kombat 9 (71 players)
Dead or Alive 5 (56 players)
Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code (41 players)

The numbers may not be high overall, but I'm happy to see KoF XIII holding there despite the horrendous netcode. This game deserves it.
