It will be interesting to see if we will get five or six games this year for Evo. And also to see if SFXT makes it. If it doesn't, the game is dead no matter how good the patch is or how much money esports throws at it.
i do wonder if capcom is going to put pressure on the cannon bros to include sfxt at evo. with it going esports it would be nuts to not have it there. at the very least it would be a side game and they would show the top 8 or something.
I'm really with you on this. I remember saying something similar in another thread once, and a bunch of 20-year olds told me I was trippin. I just accepted it because fuck - I'm old, and easily confused anymore. But it's nice to know there's at least one other person out there staring at their hands like "WHY DON'T YOU DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO ANYMORE"
I know that feel bro, I know some people like that. Either they're still young or they just don't notice it. It was no surprise I had to fight the same people over input lag issues in local tourneys. And speaking of input lag, it only makes things worse for us old men. I'm VERY sensitive to input lag(well, I was back when I was playing) and there's nothing worse than dumb people that think they're right. Those 6~9 frames of delay become crucial at our age. I used to be in a band and I don't even want to try to play an instrument anymore, I fear how my old hands will perform now. BTW charge characters seemed to fit more my old hands.
Anecdotal evidence: A couple years ago I used to play SF4 online A LOT as a training to the heavy input lag found in the TVs used in local tourneys. At one big tourney, they(finally!) had good TVs and I made it to grand finals watching my opponents do the same thing I was used to do, which is to curse the TVs. The grand finals were played on a huge new Sony screen also with huge input lag(we're talking 160-200ms range). It was so bad that it seemed like a red connection(0 bars) in vanilla against someone in Afghanistan while his little brother next to him was downloading torrents without capping the upload speed. It was so bad that I had issues trying to combo a heavy kick after heavy hundred hand slap with Honda. But I was lucky because my opponent had no experience at all playing online(he was used to way less lag). Guess who won

I think it's a huge pressure that will surely be taken into consideration. Pre-IPL announcement, vanilla MvC3 had a better chance at a spot than SFxTK. Now, not so much. Having SFxTK also will help them maintain relevance with it going eSports. Or conversely, not having it will help them maintain their credibility, especially when and if nobody ends up participating in SFxTK at IPL.
I'm actually a bit tired of people talking down Yipes. Just because he has never won anything doesn't mean he can't at least compete with some of the decent west coast players.
If it ever happened I think it'll be closer then you all think. Even Andre managed a couple of games.
Yipes always places, which I think might be more painful. "Always the bridesmaid," etc. Still one of my favorite players by a wide margin, and arguably the most important person in the FGC.
