Wait, why does Dark Hole assist suck for Haggar? What would be a better assist?

Basically haggar NEEDS an assist that allows him to get in/apply pressure safely.

Dark Hole only allows haggar to put a small about of pressure on your opponent and also allow for a midscreen pickup for an combo extention. It might help haggar with a incoming mixup every once in a while, but that assist only allows haggar an extented combo most of the time.

If Dorm had his f.H or flame carpet as an assist, that would make dorm a very good assist character, but I know capcom pick those assist for balancing purposing. f.H with dorm would be an AMAZING assist because it comes out fast and causes a wallbounce, and flame carpet would be amazing for keepaway teams.

Also at the moment Dorm's Dark hole IS the best assist for haggar if you need to use Dorm on your team. But remember, that haggar assist ls like one of the top 5 assist you want to use with dorm, its up there with Missiles because it helps dorm deal with pressure because how good it is a GTFO assist it is.

I say the best assist for haggar are: Log Trap or Spitfire(Rocket), Bolts(Strange), Machine Gun Fire(Chris), Daggars(Arthur), and Mystic Ray(Shuma)

Missiles are also good for Haggar too in a sense because they stop from people from being in the air which is one of haggar's biggest weakness.

Also with myself with being a Haggar/Dorm player too, I know about the synergy between these two characters

There's obviously different ways to look at it but I think Chris missed the first handshake opportunity, realized other guys hand was extended, reached out to shake, realized other guy retracted hand and by then it was too late.

Chris is just an awkward dude.

isn't that just a subset of salt? like some sort of self-loathing brand of sodium?

I guess to most people where salt is defined as "you aren't laughing or smiling 24/7" then sure.

To me, salt is Flux at House of Crack, CJ after the whole pressing start drama, etc.

being frustrated with how you performed is a common aspect to everything in life. I don't think a normal reaction should be defined as salt.

How is flatly denying to shake someone's hand not salt?

He was probably just having a bad night in general. Leave the guy alone, he attempted to shake the guy's hand but he clearly wanted to focus on decoding what he did wrong. We've all been there.

See I think we can all agree this response is salt.

I feel kinda bad for him at the end. Like I said above, he just looks destroyed. Life of the FGC pro, getting your best and worst moments on video for r/kappa

When I (tried to) use Haggar, I used RR's double Spitfire with Drones or Plasma Beam. Paradigm uses the Dorm assist mostly for combo extension since it stays there long enough so its easy to use mid-combo and allows him to TOD anyone. His other team Haggar/RR/Arthur did the same thing (RR Spitfire for combo extension).

I just wanted to know what a better Dorm assist he would use with his haggar team?

I thought Paradigm uses Log Trap on that team, because he has one of haggar's best assist on that team already(Daggers), so he doesn't need another one of those assists. The reason I know he uses Log Trap because it allows to haggar to deal characters that like to stay in the air, and also it allows haggar to confirm off a random log trap too.

Also haggar and rocket have some cool stuff together that can stop characters that haggar has a hard time agains too. Meaning if your opponent is on the ground, he has to respect you when you have 2 meters if you have haggar/rocket shell. I will record some stuff with some haggar/rocket stuff(some stuff that help you with in a real match)

But for now here is a haggar/rocket combo I made a while back.

Hey, I love that Arthur, its the best thing I seen when I started playing Vanillia MVC3 a while back, and back when justin wong thought this game was cheap and easy(Which is now known it IS!) but I remember seeing how he change his opinion afterward he was messing with Wolverine and someone made a picture of the tweets and added this at the end and I know I love this picture. I can't seem to find it at all, I am sad

Also I love that arthur picture so Much I got a $1 mouse pad of it: http://i.imgur.com/tmjO6rr.jpg

That mouse-pad, I'm dying man. It's epic.

Salt is when the person doesn't even want to look at you after losing.

I feel like I'm the only Haggar player that uses the Steel Pipe assist. It's freakin' awesome and it doesn't burn your health like the lariat does. It's amazing with Dante because you can confirm easy combos or jumping S with it. May not be the best assist but I've tricked people pretty convincingly with it.

Haggar/Dorm also allows you to do Lariat->Rapid Fire Fist->Chaotic Flame which is a great punish against even the most aggressive of opponents. Haggar/Dorm/Doom is a really fun team, I pick it when I play Haggar point. Having lariat to back up Dorm is awesome too.

Oh i think you are right, Was he the one that started Arthur, powered him up, dropped Arthur flame bottle to make Haggar's hard tag in safe?

This is the RR/Haggar synergy I wanted to use but I really haven't touched these character at all over the span of the game.

Also I need to get a new Mouse Pad.

Flame Carpet as an assist would be pretty silly. We didn't even recommend it in our theory patch.

THEN I DEMAND THAT I HAVE DORM'S S AS A ASSIST! Nah, if I would pick one assist, I would pick f.H or flame carpet, I would most likely use f.H assist more for haggar team setup, but I would see why people would think that flame carpet would be pretty good

It's good for pressure and against people with no experience against it thanks to the ground bounce but I think Dante benefits much more with Lariat for sure, and you can still get really easy confirms off of it.

Forward Heavy would be a good assist but imagine his flame carpet could be called repeatedly like viewtiful joe's bomb assist. Chaos ensues.

I play a lot of alt teams so I've had to start trying to distance myself from the mentality of "I'll totally destroy this guy if I switch to my REAL team!". It's just too frustrating when you still can't get the job done with your A team. It's better to play it out with what you picked before, unless there is something big at stake. I think ChrisG needs to learn this too.

P.S. It makes me smile when these top players get to know the pain of facing a Smurfx-tier Haggar

I remember seeing that video a while back, I need to see if any of teams I am working on had any hard tag combo that allows haggar to come back in.

Haggar is a easy character to use, but he is a hard character to win with at high level because high level now adays people can fight haggar pretty well if they use characters that have very good matches against haggar(Mags, Doom, etc) His combos are easy to learn, but you need to have patience like if your using Zangief in SF4 to know when to go in or not IMO.

Rocket is a very hard character to use effectively, because of his low damage output, and weird move set. But when you learn him, you will find out with good assist backing rocket up, HE IS FUCKING SCARY when he gets his shit started(I mean it, check out Punisher's matches on the house of crack stream/archives to see the best US Rocket Raccoon player or the scariest IMO!)

I mean it, has a very good level 1 super(Mad Hopper) some very good ass assists, amazing reset and unblockable game, VERY SCARY in level 3 x-factor and more. But his basic BnB is easy somewhat, but his advance stuff is VERY hard to learn, his boulder trap loop is very hard to learn and make sure you don't fuck it up at all.

Maybe I need to see more of the sequence but judging from the GIF; what it looked like to me, is that Paradigm went to shake his hand, thought that he might not be paying attention so initiated the action to pat him on the shoulder, but then realized that he was paying attention and was just denying his handshake so he decided to pat him half-heartedly as to hold onto some of his pride.

Looking at it again, it looks like I could be wrong though. Initially it just looked like Chris was saying "Dude, did you not see how I lost? I don't want to shake your hand right now".

I honestly think Chris was looking back at the match being frustrated with losing that badly but then sucked it up to shake Paradigm's hand as good sportsmanship. However, since Paradigm initiated the handshake and Chris raised his hand a bit too late, Paradigm assumed Chris wouldn't shake his hand since he was just lifeless right there. It was just awkward timing for the both of them. Doesn't change the fact that Chris was salty, he'll bounce back though and level up.

LOL I just see Chris G got lariated and X-Factor by Paradigmm's haggar against his last character and even before Paradigm started his haggar combo chris g ragequit and went to character select right after paradigmm landed haggar's S! (This was the match right before Chris G got perfected by him too)

"LOOK AT DAT GUY HE LOST LOOK AT HIS FACE"

"SALT SALT SODIUM"

" WHAT A WHINY BITCH"

It's marvel, hyperbole is to be expected.

If I ever picked umvc3 up again, Haggar/Dorm is something I might run. My Doom is booty butt cheeks though. I can do his most basic corner loop, but that's about it, and I can't do the triangle walk thing on the ground very quickly at all.
