I'm having zero luck using the built in YouTube uploader for Ultra Street Fighter 4. *sigh* It records and submits and says upload completed successfully but I can't find it anywhere lol. Unless it's still processing???

I think the one and only time I tried to use that for testing purposes (360 version), it had to go through the whole process twice in order to successfully upload or something, and it took an eternity.

Yea I'm using the PC version and it's oddly happening and completing very quickly it's done by the time the replay is over. I've tried it like 3 or 4 times resetting the tokens and all.

It's been said already. They never say or show the good things about the FGC but whenever there is something bad, it's on the front page.

Contribute something. Actually let us know why your friends quit, so we might be able to snub the root cause if we can. Tell me who is being and asshole instead of just saying that people shouldn't be assholes. Tell me what problematic behavior is being promoted by TOs so that it can be addressed.

But realistically I don't see how this is going to be addressed outside of everyone as individuals being more aware of the effects of their behavior and the "tone" of the room, I guess. Expecting people to just narc on everyone that offends them isn't really a reasonable suggestion, but expecting TOs to voluntarily play fun police while still trying to cultivate an exciting atmosphere isn't realistic either. In my experience esports isn't any better at curtailing harassment and general bad behavior within their communities or at at events, they're just really good at keeping it off-camera which I don't think is that hard but doesn't really solve the problem.

This. Exactly this. And in the end, this was the last straw for my friends who quit- they found other interests that didn't make them feel bad being part of it. They still enjoy playing with friends, but won't play with strangers anymore.

I have very limited time off, I had to work every single weekend but one this past year. I made events when I could.

That said, I should follow my own opinions on another matter- you can't really change a culture from outside of it.
I'm not even going to bother anymore.

Nice article on how capcom can improve CPT this year. Hopefully someone from capcom will read it and take some of the writer's points into consideration.

this was a pretty good read. lots of constructive criticisms. They definitely should work on downtime with player interviews or even match critiquing, sound-booth walls for players are a must since there is alot of benefits for mic'ed in commentary. Music with game competitions just does not work... Commentary teams rotations would be nice to give UltraChen some breathing room and I would die if they get Lee Chung. And Qualifications does need some work, but they are pretty limited in funding.

I wonder why don't more fighting games put some slightly advanced terminology during fights. Like performing a cross up, the screen should pop up 'cross up' just like counter would show up.

I always felt like Vampire Saviour should have cackled at you after an unblockable instead of a tech hit.

Count blackule is that you?

Nope I'm still reading and jumping around that article. I just learned that at most FGC events the players can't hear the commentators. Which is weird as opposed to watching it on twitch stream. I guess it helps it's almost like coaching if you're listening in on them. Article has some very good points.

I agree with the tournament format being group play that becomes a double elimination bracket. It will be tough for 24 players to participate in though. That's a lot of players that Capcom would have to fly out to the event. In that format, seeding should not only be done by whoever won the qualifier and points, but also by region so there aren't groups containing one area of the world.

In any case, the qualifiers shouldn't be overwhelmingly centered around the US tournaments. US is clearly not the strongest SF region in the world.

It's not the strongest, but isn't it the most active in terms of player size?

You didn't know that? There'd be no way for the crowd to be the way it is if commentary was piped in all the time.

james chen would clarify who bitch it is

The Saturn Darkstalkers were good ports right? I have them and ive been meaning to play for a long time, game looks like a lot of fun. Viktor 4 lyfe.

It is, but I think Japan has a larger amount of highly skilled players. The arcade tournaments always make it known just how good the player base is. Take Topanga League as an example, Pepeday couldn't even qualify for the B League.

If there were 24 players invited it would solve that issue, but I'm not sure if Capcom will want to fly out 8 more players compared to the last CC.

Breh tf u talking bout? We all know that DBFC and UNIEL are finally guna make it into the final 8 this year.

If this actually happened, I would start playing FGs again.

Speaking of unsafe places Twitter just recommended that I follow akiman and dammit that feed is NSFW.
What are you talking about, akiman's Twitter account is amazing
unless you're at work

I think most of the suggestions here are reasonable, although I found it amusing that the most of the hard decisions (in regards to how distribute ranking points) were being deferred to the community at large. I did lol at the point regarding online qualifiers though, even though he could have just replaced that with FIX YOUR SHIT, CAPCOM!!!

And fuck soundproof booths. Head to head setups are one thing, but that just completely takes the crowd out of it.

That "tech window" YouTube comment had me in tears.

Dude, when I read that comment I could not stop laughing, creative YouTube comments make my day. Also, ain't nothing wrong with a gorilla giving advice to a yam, its a natural occurrence, just how its normal for kade to pick on a smed or a count to fantasize over a DJ.

so who's joining me in welcoming the next DOA to FGW with open arms?

BROTHAAAAAAA

Amidst all this talk about the FGC's aggression and openness, etc., footage from a local meetup was used pretty heavily in Nightline Anita Sarkeesian piece, which I thought was interesting.

Also proof women play Marvel!

Gilty plays marvel homie plus this other girl that plays at a monthly in a college, forgot what it was... She played Vergil. Does Ricky play Marvel anymore? She practically taught everyone how to play Wolverine and came up with the greatest over, the Hello Kitty Pretty Ricky.

Edit:

forgot about Persia, she is really good with Wesker and knows a lot about the character.

I don't recall alstein saying he thought TFC was going to fail. IIRC, he said that he felt that Big E wasn't putting as much effort into planning and running TFC as he was into NEC, and the NC community wasn't too thrilled about this.

To me, TFC 2014 did appear like a step down compared to the inaugural TFC. Of course it's an impossible and unrealistic expectation that events to have to get bigger and better each and every year. I wouldn't be surprised if the TFC TOs had to take on more responsibilities this time around since SJC retired from running tournaments (though I'm sure SJC can correct me). But everything did seem to run fine at the event itself.

On the KiT stuff, I know that Anne|Frank likes to shittalk, as that's pretty much the reason she and I have been getting into occasional spats over the past six months or so. And as a Jewish person, I find her username fairly offensive. So I don't quite understand how she reconciles these things with her opinions on Shinblade and the mysterious NEC thing. (Not that I matter or anything.) I respect the fact that she stepped up to run the anime stuff at KiT, and seemed to it well, since TOing is a thankless and difficult job. But being a TO does not make you immune from criticism.

I don't think we'll ever see that. Unfortunate but true. Ess okay. I know that feel breh. *bro hugs*

Sadly far too often it can take a turn for the worst.....

I'll start by saying excuse my ignorance on the subject but, what's happening with Frame Trapped now? The dev on twitter talks of how "if you want it, let Capcom know". Since when were PC mods / tools held to ransom like this?

https://twitter.com/FrameTrapped/status/555319706488684544

@FrameTrapped

So I'm meeting with Matt Dahlgren to talk about Frame Trapped's future this Friday. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good.

https://twitter.com/FrameTrapped/status/555323401582419968

Hopefully I can sway some opinion but it's doubtful. We will try our best but may need legal help to see options if it goes bad.
