I hate I missed all the gaming together. :sadface

I'm not sure if I should be surprised that no one commented on Karst's thing

It looks good. You seemed to have hit all the basics. I'm not sure what extra you could add.

Also, you might want to look into IndieGoGo versus KickStarter. They take a lower cut, but I'm not sure that would matter for the size of your project

Looks like Morrigan soul fist wall type shit o_O
I'M IN THERE

This makes me more and more puzzled you weren't all in on strawberry farming in 1.0. That thing was amazing at controlling space.

She is cute, though.

That goes to champloo

Calling Champloo greatest of all time is a mistake.
Saying that Champloo is better than Bebop is the truth.

Maybe if this were virtual fighter.

Scratch that, she'd have more personality than the cast combined. So she'd probably be welcomed.

Ouch.

Thanks for the SG games everybody, one day I'll learn to stop dropping inputs like a Food Netwerk Oreo tweet. Let's try to make this a recurring thing?

Switched to very hard difficulty in VF5FS arcade mode yesterday and wasn't having too much trouble. Might try some online matches today.

Gotta say, the AI for some of the characters in arcade mode isn't half bad. Felt like I was learning stuff from Jean kicking my ass, dude was good lol. The AI is also pretty good about attacking you till you are on the defensive and then going for throws.

Also think the CPU kind of cheats with the throw escapes. Did three jab into throws (back, forward and neutral) in a row and it broke all three -_-

i need a vanessa tutorial

Remember that even if you're mixing up your throw directions (really good habit!), if you're not mixing up your mids/throws, your opponent doesn't need to guess what direction you're doing - they can just launch you :D

Yeah that's a good tip, I noticed it during tournament matches. Players would stick out launchers when they thought they might be thrown. Attack animations are throw invincible so it's a good idea when at disadvantage frame-wise as well I hear.

Typically risky launchers are only used for punishing unsafe moves and for attacking out of disadvantage to beat throws. Using a move that's -15 while at medium disadvantage is playing a dangerous game if you're playing a competent opponent.

Any tips for what to do after a successful side step?

Even if I evade properly the opponent's attack string or whatever usually auto-corrects in my direction and hits me during my attack's start up.

What is the best thing to do after a successful side step? Block?

If you evaded the first hit of a string, yes just block. Some strings don't track and you can continue to sidestep to get your opponent backturned (BT throws are inescapable) but until you know those strings just play it safe and guard.

When you evade a single hit move, like an elbow or something, you've typically put your opponent in forced nitaku. Most characters' 3K will cause a special crumple on side-turned opponents when it hits CH, you should check to see if your character gets that off of ST 3K. If you have a guard break, that becomes much better on ST - Lau, for example, actually get's a free 3P+K launcher off of his guardbreak on ST. If you have neither of these tools, you still have the advantage and should apply standard throw/mid mixups.

About strings - while you're playing, if you notice your opponent is using a lot of strings, see if any of them appear to be highs. Highs can be ducked under for huge rewards - at first, just try hitting 2P when you think a hit of a string is high.

In this version scuff marks appear on characters after taking enough damage.

Interesting how Art of Fighting had very visible character damage during matches over 20 years ago and yet most fighting games still don't bother to do it today. And AOF showed actual damage (especially on the face), not just dirt marks.

I think it's so funny how MK9 does it. Sonya Blade looking like the end of Passion of the Christ

Some good matches in Dubai so far.

If Dubaigo wins that "Better than Daigo" trophy I will be so happy.
But will it be Umehalal Dubaigo or Umeharam Dubaigo?
