Fighting Games Weekly | June 1-7 | QAisTopTier

SC6 is quite welcome. SC5 was a solid product.

I hope we see a bigger evolution to the franchise than what SC5 offered. That series has a lot of great elements that can be expanded on.

Yep, it was. If it has similar but better chara customization i'm going to spend A LOT of time on that, i'm sure. =D

It'll probably tide me over nicely for T7, however long that may be.

Well so far I'm extremely mashy in Skullgirls. I don't really know what moves to use to get in yet. And sometimes I can land a combo with as many as five (5!) hits.

I'm real bad

It wouldn't surprise me if Peacock has driven dozens to tears.
Skullgirls has good walk animations

Squigly's walk animation is probably my favorite.

I just really like how ArcSys likes to shake things up when it comes to gameplay mechanics for new characters.

From what we know Jack-O has a bunch of Dust specials (some consume some meter apparently), a strike throw that can end aerial combos in Melty Blood fashion.

Can summon pumpkins onto the stage that level up over time which can then summon strong minions presumably (3 different kinds from what has been shown so far). These pumpkins can also be picked up and moved around/thrown. And we still don't know what her HS special does or any of her supers (and her Instant Kill is currently unfinished and not usable).

Already what's there is pretty intriguing, they only thing I can think of that's vaguely comparable is maybe Zappa's ghost summon (different types but can only have one type active at a time).

I think their strategy of introducing pairs of one old and one new character is a good one. The old roster can be brought back up while they also introduce newcomers at the same time.

I forgot that VF EVO is where this whole customization nonsense originated in fighters.

UGH

Costumization can be incredible if they stick to makeing outfits that contribute to the character's design rather than troll attires and obnoxious accessories.

The best part about buying just the base game and nothing else is that you won't see any customization at all, not even in online matches.

It's one of the main reasons I won't be buying any costume packs ever.

For real tho vf is great and all but I gotta check the character portraits to see who the fuck is fighting who when I watch vids. It's actually absurd.

Solid argument for doing pre made capcom style alt outfits despite the ability to otherwise in most fighters nowadays

Yeah, I just learned I'm going to need lasik eye surgery if I plan on learning Vanessa via the Japanese.
Like I said before, like a year or two ago, if you need cheap lasik, come to Peru, I'll house you, we can get some games and you'll save lots of money. No Kappa

Man, BunBunMaru, that's a name I haven't seen in a while. Those first two Excellents were fucking hilarious.

Also I'm one of those people who don't mind the wide amount of ridiculous customization items in VF. I just see the characters as templates for them to be customized in order to fit a player's preferences and their specific play style with that character.

The next big innovation in FGs is adding the ability to configure sets in your lobby.

This one and done business is for the birds.

And the Daigo. /kappa

Honestly, once you've played the game a bit it's not that hard to tell, especially since VF's body sizes and animations are pretty damn distinct. I could see how it could be confusing for a brand new player, but the customization is fun (even if people tend to make total abominations... and I'm as guilty of that as anyone).

I honestly wonder if it would be worth the difference after having to pay for the flight.

If nothing else, around here one could drive down to Mexico and have it done there. -_-

I think KI already does best 2 out of 3 games in Ranked once you get high enough in rank. It would probably be for the best for FGs to adopt 2/3 or 3/5 sets for ranked, as part of the issue with matchmaking in fighting games is that the time to find games is so disproportionate to the play time. Waiting a couple of minutes for a team in a MOBA is fine when the games are 30-40 minutes. Waiting 90 seconds for a game in a FG is awful when your average match is three minutes.
