I was doing this about a week ago. I couldn't figure out how to make it all that great so I kind of abandoned the idea. you can do it with normal throw OS with 5K and YRC OS the 5K in that instance.
Timing window to catch mash is p small though, you're more likely to eat some weird mash or defensive OS option than to actually DP/grab them.

In a world where Rufus exist I don't think any Street Fighter character could be worse, although Birdy's new design certainly comes in a close second.

He's the best animated character in SFV by a mile. Not basing him on any previous design made them go wild with it as opposed to the subtle changes to charcters like Ryu where people struggle to see a difference right away. His Critical Art is extremely impressive looking and makes me really excited for entirely new characters .

It cuts off tons of extra normals for each character that in the end would've made the game deeper.

The game's looking fine. Looks to me like they've obviously learnt some lessons from SF4 and going in a different direction.

Is it wrong that I'm currently more interested in KI than SFV? Not hatin on SFV...it looks good so far, but I'm on the fence still after what I saw as to whether It'd fit me. KI just looks like more fun to me so far.
Wish there was a new tag fighter with assists though. Thats my real love interest. Just haven't felt the same towards fighters in ages without one.

Yeah the Birdie design sucks. They removed the quirks to his Alpha design and replaced them with he's fat and loves food.

I like SFV Ryu's st.LK better anyway.
Well, they are making SFV a simpler game than SFIV, making combos/specials easier but making the ground/footsie game stronger. Even tho I agree the game could be deeper with those extra normals you say, I trade that all day for the stronger footsie game plus vortexes being weak

I'm not totally sure, I know there's still command attack/normals like Solar plexus, but no difference between far st.HP and cl. HP.
I'd love to eat crow and enjoy the game tho
Yea I'm down for less vortex and a stronger footsie game, but taking out tons of normals makes the footsie game a bit more plain imo

Good riddance. I was so happy that Dudley didnt have that shit in 3S or 4. Nothing worse than your AA normal being a close proxy normal even though it actually would hit further.

I don't think he is pleasant looking, but he's not supposed to be. He represents a different American stereotype from Guile and Ken. A white guy doing a bad imitation of kung fu among actual fighters seems like an idea that would work alone. But he is also a character so condensed in American modern convenience that he is morbidly obese and his thoughts are completely detached to reality. Contrast this to Dhaslim, one of the rivals he has in game. The ridiculously long win quotes...the fact that one of his attacks is called Jesus kick.. In my opinion, Rufus is actually one of the better new characters from a creative standpoint.
It's a step up from heart boobs. I would also argue he's above antihero edgelord Angelina Jolie and Jolyne Kujo with every psycho anime girl cliche attached.

MSRP was 1150 so with tax it was 1250.
It's 13.3 inches or so though. Great specs and super lite. I can probably do a lot on it plus it can be used as a tablet. I might try some fun stuff at tournaments with it.
Yeah it seems like SFV is being very smart at removing extraneous parts of the combat system to remove frustration and become a more focused system for lack of better words. If it doesn't work well enough or have a purpose, they've decided to gut it. Similarly, getting rid of hard knock downs has done so much good for the pace and general engagement of players that it really is difficult now to watch hard knock down set ups dominate SFIV (even if we're talking Ultra). That might just be the best change moving forward with how much it does for the neutral and general dynamism of the combat.

The way the combat system is working in SFV especially regarding no hard knockdowns kinda reminds me of Darkstalkers in a certain capacity. VSav was very lax regarding knockdowns (they existed but were rare with most of them being techable) and that contributed a lot to its perception as a brisk game.
Juri would have been better with that short hair design or the Fa Mulan design free. Viper's cool though. Rufus is just meh and moreso because his original concepts are all amazing.

Traditional Street Fighter characters aren't meant to be cool. Theyre supposed to be personalities.
When you design cool characters you end up with 3s and it sinks like a ship.
I guess I should have been more specific. Rufus fits more in line with SF2 design philosophy that introduced characters like Blanka and Zangief. What you guys want are anime characters and a storyline. Not much different than the NRS guys

Yeah. Something I liked about Oni is that all his second normals were command normals, instead of being triggered by distance. Made it easier to use his toolset.

I don't want to get into a huge debate over Rufus again. I don't think any part of the design was designed well. Not the clothing, facial hair, physique, any of it. It's not aesthetically pleasing especially compared to what we could have gotten from his earlier concepts. No, making him skinny does not change anything, ugly character art is ugly character art. It seems SNK are the only ones capable of making a heavy character that doesn't look like a middle school doodle.
If people like his design that's fine, I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. I don't wanf to be accused of not "understanding the thought process" behind the design. I dig that he was the bumbling overweight martial artist but just because I like the idea doesn't mean I like the design it's ultimately attached to.

Hell cody Travers is in this game, the man who murdered someone, went to jail. And breaks out of jail, because he want slap peoples slap shit. Dude is so strong he can cause whirlwinds with uppercuts and enjoys fighting monsters.
Also you talk about anime characters and story, when street fighter is NOTHING BUT ANIME. Maybe fgc gaf has climbed to far up its own butt, but street fighter is a Japanese series, heavily inspired by anime and martial arts imagery. Featuring School girls, evil/Violent/shin forms, ninja's who are also school girls. A long dumb story that's dumb because they didn't expect to have to make that much of it and a bunch of other stuff.
