Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 17-23 | Settle it in Smash

Why not just get a Wii U and then get the PS3 version of Xrd? Do you not have a PS3?
.

If you don't have a PS3 and you're looking between a PS4 or Wii U, I'd say go for Wii U. Cheaper, don't have to buy an arcade stick, and you have some pretty good first party games available.

Edit: Oh, in that case, I'd just say get a Wii U. I wouldn't get a PS4 just for Xrd (right now), personally.

I'll wait till Bloodborne for the PS4, the Wii U will be my trophy this BF.

Just get a Wii U yams.

The Wii U it shall be. By the way, are you asian astarte?

theres a bf deal for wii u thats better than the refurbished one from nintendo for 200?

Tons of people got it on gaf saying its brand new. My friend just got his a few days ago and its definitely brand new.

There are going to be a billion Smash streams on Friday. Justin is going in on Smash too, Max and of course the VGBC guys.

Friend of a friend is setting up a smash party this weekend with every smash and multiple consoles at his place. Not a smashhead but I can't really stay away from dat ZSS.

Look, I'll be too busy dealing with 1.5k cost changes to chase you around the map.

I'm wondering if they're going to include Smash 4 to WNF/TRB's lineup for a bit, even if there is SSS.

If they do, I can't see the tourney ending in a timely manner lol

We only have one HDTV in the house (bought recently too).

I will never get to play PS4 on it because my grandma sits there all day long watching SD serials and shit.

I played COD in the kitchen while the voice was on in the living room. Not my proudest gaming moment but at least I could play. Still want to hide my ps3 in the cupboard but worried about ventilation.

markman pls my new fightstick pro has hairline scrach all over the turbo panel

at least i can actually get away from hori buttons now

This is what happens every time I try to explain/introduce my sister into fighting games.
Not really.

I think I just really take for granted how a lot of shared knowledge and mechanics are just second nature at this point for me to utilize. Even something like understanding the difference between a high, mid and low is a challenge to teach while from my perspective it's incredibly easy. I also keep on forgetting to take into account how things would sound to a newcomer, I end up falling back on game jargon even when I'm in the middle of explaining how a mechanic works.

Has anyone had trouble teaching someone new to the genre? It feels like my explanations aren't enough at this point.

I'm pretty good at teaching, you just have to put yourself in the shoes of a new player and think of things from their perspective.

It's the same way with learning, when you are studying for a test or something study the stuff and store it in your memory or notes in the way that you would teach it to someone. You are bound to remember it easier.

did anyone know about this Xrd stream at Mikado? Just learned about it today.

Unless I'm crazy I'm pretty sure it's been posted before. But it's nice to put it up again. Wish I knew the times they did it and such if there was a schedule or whatever. Would be worthy enough to add to the OP imo

If anyone is new to GG and wants to learn stuff when XRD comes out I'll gladly teach the ins and outs.

Just name your character and if I'm not super proficient with them give me like a day to work out their little tricks and I'll have a nice step by step learning program for ya :P

I'll try, but after watching that webm I can't help but wonder if I'm near the breaking point since this is far from my first attempt. I have no one to play with locally since most of the people I used to play with moved away. Because of that I think I've been a little over-persistent in trying to get her to adopt the genre, enough that she might just tell me to fuck off at some point. Which is something I'll likely have to accept as fighting games aren't for everyone. Still, I'm going to give it another shot and hope I don't get blown up.

Yeah. It's fun to watch the high level sets, however the stream is usually on while I'm at work so I have to watch the youtube uploads later.

Nobody plays May anymore

Kazuki and Ruu
and they'll split for Dizzy and Bridget probably

I haven't seen Kedako play in months.

Also, I can help people in Xrd too if anyone wants help from me.

can you help someone who hasn't touched the game since Reload?

Teach me about Bedman! And GG in general. I like GG a lot but never played it seriously.

Still no character trials for USF4.

"There will be no new trials available at the time of the Ultra Street Fighter 4 digital upgrade launch," a Capcom representative said, "but stay tuned, as we'll have more news to share on this topic shortly after the digital upgrade version is released."

Has there ever been a news update on this? I think it's safe to say it's been "shortly after" and then some.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. You're talking about a sloppy shoestring budget cash grab here.

A sloppy shoestring budget cash grab that for some reason is the big game of the genre ;_;

Daaaaaamn, entirely new moves and character types (i don't remember any other sword draw/sheath fighting style moves in smash?)

This reminded me: I hate, hatehatehatehate quick draw based characters. Such an annoying meme. It's a flashy technique, yeah, and useful for mitigating disadvantage in a self-defense situation but all the same: No ****ing idiot in his right mind would repeatedly resheath his/her sword in open combat. Slower to strike out of the scabbard and all that jazz. >_<

How do you adjust quality in Livestreamer? What's the command?

livestreamer streamaddress quality

So you just type eg:
Code:
livestreamer twitch.tv/miekrusspls best
livestreamer twitch.tv/miekrusspls low

Code:
livestreamer twitch.tv/miekrusspls

lists all the available quality options. There's no on the fly adjuster, you have to close VLC and restart the stream.

Been practicing my Zato/Eddie again. He's so much fun, even in +R.

Got to practice up before Xrd.

For me deciding what to play in GG is hell. The characters are heavy stuff to learn, way more so than KOF13 ones, and there's nothing that really really stands out. Faust is fine, but so is Zato, and Ramlethal seems nice too. Ogawa stuff makes me want to play Zato but the workload is insane. Xrd at least gives us a solid combo into drill via 5HS(3) xx 22H.

Decisions, decisions ;_;

Smash or Xrd? I'm having trouble cause the one I pick is the console I'll buy on black friday ;~;

Xrd obv.

If I end up tackling the Zato challenge I think I could use an exercise set for shadow control/coordination. The negative edging stuff drives me insane.

That's what way too much effort, I need to be told what character to pick because I keep choosing the wrong ones.

I also have the innate ability to pick the bum characters or characters that take a lot of work to be efficient/get rekt easily.

also the ability to always pick the shopping cart at groceries that has the wheel that randomly stops , is hella loud, or keeps turning to one side

I am 99% sure I will probably stick with Ky, but shit, I'll take you up on that.
