Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 17-23 | Settle it in Smash

I can't follow you from a normal reviewer's perspective. If you have to do long term looks and coverage I can see what you mean.

Yeah that's it. I was preparing for the P4U review in europe by playing again the old one for example. I also keep a PS2 and an Xbox 360 for the same reasons in case I need to check something. With emulation it's easier but I don't like having to keep them. Since I don't have an HDTV I play on my computer screen and it takes place.

When did Ecole or French Bread say they wanted to make a PC version?

Two years ago but it was the representative speaking: http://beastnote.blogspot.fr/2012/11/under-night-in-birth-devs-interview.html
After that, NyuuMedia made some trolling saying they were interested in the game but it didn't worked after all and here we are with our PS3 versions and 8 months too late ports.

Their most recent tweet about it says "Distribution with steam is undecided." Which is probably typical Japanese "polite" corporate parlance for No, but who knows. I do know that French Bread themselves is very small, so even if they wanted to it would be a heavy lift without outside help (especially since they're already busy with updating DBFC and pre-production for UNI2), which is its own kind of mess.

That's soul crushing to hear there was interest in a PC port of UNIEL that never came to an end. :(

I see. It does seem like a polite "unlikely" and I didn't know about the size of French Bread beforehand.

Kof grapples cheat. They can combo into their grabs like they're any other special move

It's what makes KoFXIII so great. It creates it's own identity. "Oh you're a grapple so that means you can't combo from -" get's HD combed from Mr Karate doing his command grab combo.
Or Clark who doesn't catch you sleeping like typical grapplers, but catches you awake and active. The person who likes to constantly attack will get armoured through that and grabbed. At the same time there are ways around it.

It's why KoFXIII is easily one of the best fighting games of last generation; it's about skill and respect.

Are you sure they are working on UNIB2? I thought they would start Melty Blood HD once they finished DBFC.

Oni/Akuma confirmed as most powerful character in SF based on SF canon.

Surprising not to see Evil Ryu in there should at least be top 6.

Uh, sorry to say but you're probably confusing Karate and Takuma (who has a Karate-looking alt which I hate). Karate technically has a command grab, but it's a run grab that has 20+ frames of startup. You're not comboing into that thing ever, though there's a couple dirty cancels from lights that translate into tick throws.

Takuma can combo into his command grab just fine, and if he does, chances are you'll die.

You make it sound like other fighters weren't all about that last gen. It's a pretty and well put together game, but I'm pretty sure last gen had an abundance of fighters with identity and great competitive potential built in.

We were spoiled, really.

I finished a new video (Dr. Doom happy b-day tutorial). I feel like I'm slowly getting the video-making thing figured out. Comments/criticism/advice more than welcome!

Great vid, I love your choice of music. A lot of the Doom stuff is already discovered but its great that you are compiling them so people can easily view it. I really wish Capcom was able
or maybe competent, I don't know,
to keep supporting UMVC3.

the downside to playing cody is that you can't hear his character music when you play as him :C

I know, I love hearing "TURN THE BEAT BACK" or something to that level. I still remember RedRapper's (if that's his name) doing an EVO music video, it was kinda dope.

Every possible competitive aspect of Sm4sh is going to be removed/nerfed into the ground. Definitely not going to invest a large majority of my time into it competitively. I think I pretty much enjoy traditional 2d fighters more at this point anyways.

Consoles are not "dying" or what have you anytime soon. They may revert back to sales levels before the Wii and DS bought all the soccer moms and grandpa's on board but they'll be just fine.

This is what I truly believe. Sakurai doesnt want the game to be competitive. He wants it to be strictly a party game and he's reiterated it many times.

Whoever wrote the changes from XXAC Pot (best Pot iteration in XX series) to Xrd missed some key differences.

crS no longer vacuums on hit/block
Heat Knuckle without Heat Extend followup launches opponent instead of dropping them in front of you (so good).

These are kind of massive IMO. crS x Hammer Feint mixups were really potent.

Slide and Pot's overhead in AC had kind of similar start up animations so it could be used for mix up upclose since it hit low (Slide is actually a 2 part attack, the first part hits low, the second part is the unblockable shockwave if you're on the ground).

XX Pot has all the tools of a good character. Xrd Pot is without the tools to be a good character.

Xrd still looking like it'll be super boring.

Vectoring was ass

Wish there were a good 60FPS gameplay trailer for Xrd so I could everybody how amazing it looks. Story and cinematic stuff is good for fluff but well cut trailers of gameplay speak for themselves (like Battlefield).

There was some recent interview or something where they said they were in the beginning phases of development for it.
iirc, they always say that Melty Blood HD is up to the people that own it (forget their name atm)
