Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 17-23 | Settle it in Smash

What are those floating icon thingies he puts out?

Bedman has two types of specials. "Task" moves, which I believe are are all done with 236 + X(any) button,(excluding Dust) and "Deja Vu" moves which are all 214 + X.

When Bedman performs a Task move, he leaves a seal on the screen in the place he initiated the move. When Bedman performs the corresponding Deja Vu move he goes into a rewind animation and reproduces that same special from that seal as sort of a projectile or duplicate.

8 player matches are hilarious!

Unless they're on Palutena's Temple and one person constantly just runs away from everyone separating as much as he can from the group |:

(Also Smash Tour is more fun as a party mode than the reviews gave it credit for.)

Thanks, that sounds really unique and interesting.

Lol

Seen a lot of interesting interactions with that move. I think on joniosan stream last night a Sol player Blitz Shielded it and it stunned Bedman

Btw, as a fellow Pit(s) bro I'm curious about what you do.

I've been finding a lot of success in a number of different situations with the character. I don't have any specific new things I'm doing so much as I'm able to finally improvise better for the Smash 4 style of play.

- Learn shield dancing. (Basically run forward a bit until you can hold a shield and cancel your forward run, then do the same backwards. Vary the distance traveled and play patient until someone rushes you)
- Retreating/Out of Shield f-tilts are stupidly good and it's hilarious how off guard you can catch people with this.
- (A fade away) Uair is amazing at catching people who air dodge first thing whenever they're in the air
- While you don't want to overdo it with Upperdash Arm (side special), it is extremely good to catch people slipping, especially roll happy folks
- At certain percentages, down throw - short hop uair - fast fall - land - fair - fair - fair is a real string and can carry opponents near full screen away. Down throw - short hop fair - fast fall (the second hit) - regrab is also another pretty cool variant for multi throw mixups
- Nair is wonderful as another means to start the above, but it's also really good for creating situations to test someone's patience/air movement habits. You can also space it somewhat to test shields/shield pressure someone with the last hit. It always puts you at advantage if it makes contact properly. One of my new things to do is to do two nairs then a third option between crouch tilt (low hits for people who want to run in with grabs out of range), a third nair (by the third one, everyone's ready to run forward, so just get a freebie combo out of it! :D) or Upperdash Arm if they have high percents (this requires the hardest of reads, but it's so Goddamned satisfying)
- Down Smash > Up Smash > Forward Smash in terms of how often I get KOs. All of Pit's smashes were buffed in knockback but I feel like down smash just has the right combination of reach and surprise to seal the deal in some matchups.
- Palutena's Bow got nerfed (no more arrow loops :( I miss those) but it's still great when used sparingly. It's no longer about outright denying recoveries so much as tacking on some percent . Whereas before I'd say Pit was a jack of all trades between his blades and bow, I'd say now he plays more of a spacing game with the bow there for hassling.

Now then, I don't know if you have much experience with it, but can you or anyone else please tell me how to neutralize Mario? I hate that character so damn much. He gets away with murder just because everyone things "oh he has stubby normals." Between Project M and Smash 4 I'd almost never want to play another Mario game just because of how my brother uses the character. Literally feels like a PR Rog style Wolverine with how many fast high priority buttons get put out and he never lets up. And then he has the cape which never fails to put the fear of God into me.

Shulk is another character that's extremely annoying to fight against, just because he's boring to look at animation wise with gimmicks out the ass and a bigger Marth fair.

Yeah, we played Palutena's Temple, then decided to never play there again.

Unlocking Dark Pit with Peach was hilarious. Either he got smacked and rebounded off of some new part of the area we'd never seen before or I got put into f-smash - up smash loops as I teched off of the small corridor near the bottom left of the stage only to get f-tilted and die.

Never. Again.

Palutena's Temple exists only as a Omega Mode variant.

Played my first For Glory match. Went pretty smoove.

Was getting bopped.. around 150% on my last stock when he was at like 30% with Sheik.

Dude teleports off stage and I win

The same thing happened to me when I was playing my Pit versus this guy on For Glory. He ran through the whole collection of day 1 online top tiers on my ass (Shiek & Little Mac with one match as ZSS). When he busted out the Shiek, I was keeping it clean and close. The last move of the match, I'm trying to read his descent out of the air only for him to reappear, fast fall and somehow completely miss the ledge.

I scored, he took the charge
Oooh, that shit gotta hurt

Can't wait till I get off work to get some smash games in. I played a bit yesterday using the Wii U gamepad but it's really nothing compared to the good ole gamecube controller. Hopefully I can pick one of those adapters up today so I can have some fun online.

Who has everyone been rockin so far? For the 3ds version i've been messing around with Kirby, Dr Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Little Mac, Greninja and Lucina, but I've had the most success with Peach, Zero Suite Slamchop, and Jigglypuff.

The game is pretty fun but it would have been a lot better if you could still L/Z/R cancel jumping attacks. It's still infinitely better than Brawl though!

this game is something else

it'll throw you into a match when you haven't pushed any buttons to accept one

and then kick you from the match because you aren't around to play

sakurai plz

I'm so happy Omega stages exist if only because that KIU music doesn't deserve being stuck on a stage that'll never get played ever. Same goes for the Megaman remixes (does that stage even have anything non-NES tho?).

how am I supposed to Ftilt without walking forward/getting a smash brehs

You just have to practice. Pick a character and just start doing walking ftilts in one direction then moving the control stick closer to a neutral position (character should be tilting without getting much walking difference) while getting tilts. Internalize the feeling as you get closer to the latter then increase the speed at which you can go from neutral to full tilt without getting a Smash attack.

Or remap the C-stick to do tilts which some people seem to be doing anyways due to the change to how the C-stick smash attacks work

The fact that the game doesn't remember your saved control scheme between modes and certain matches between modes is incredibly frustrating.

Imagine in any fighter that you had to reassign your buttons after EVERY MATCH

i am so bad at this game

it's because the controls are set to a name right? that's probably actually best for when you're switching out people a lot, like in a tournament

Smash Bros. online is SO GOOD. I've really been enjoying the game. LOTS of content. Huge starting roster. Excellent netcode. YouTube videos do not do justice to the detail in the sparks/hit effects. They look really good.

The only complaint I have so far is having to play on old Brawl stages online. I only want to play on the new ones made from the ground up for an HD console. :3

Tekken Tag was fantastic.

I wonder what went wrong here.

I was playing TTT2 on WIi U last night and surprisingly finding a lot of players online at 4 a.m.

1 bar connections ran so smoothly. lol.

Loving Smash Bros so far. I have no idea who to use though. Want to narrow my choices down to 2 characters so I can learn the game.

If anyone wants to play
NNID: Salex0

I'm on wifi until next week.

GGs Beats!

I got absolutely BODIED but I was starting to learn later into the set.

That Fireball ~ Grab regardless of if the blast hits is nasty. I started sidestepping to try avoid it but I gotta get used to punishing in this game.

Ike is way to slow to keep up with ZSS. I felt most comfortable with Toon Link but I want to learn Shulk as well.

Got the Gord string down. Didn't realize you could jump from the 2C that early ^^

I really really like how movement feels in this game. Now I just need to learn to play it.

Good games! Try not to roll too much. It's really good in some instances, but you can get punished pretty easily depending on what character you're fighting against.

For Ike try checking out Ryuga's Ike on ClashTournaments channel. He does well even against some of the faster characters like Greninja and Sheik.

Everyone else in the Nintendo collective all like "nah breh, it's cool we just havin' fun" meanwhile ZSS coming at you like "have you SEEN this ninja's bounty? I'mma eat GUD off that ass."

Edit: What's your NNID?

lmao its CountBlackule
