Fighting Games Weekly | September 3-9

I remember SRK was getting hyped for SG to come out, and now it's 0 entrants in Super Norcal.

Profound sadness?

I think the lack of characters hurts it, as well. It also played too much like GG/BB, sorta like P4A does. P4A has the best presentation in fighting games I've seen, IMO.

I think the reliance on Double/Parasol assists was a massive problem that wasn't going to be fixed in the patch (at least with Parasol's). The fact 90% of plays have one of them in their team just for the assist made it a little boring. It's a real shame because I was really enjoying my Valentine/Painwheel team when I was playing, more so than any of my UMVC teams.

The 8 button layout fucked me over. My SE has the last two buttons plugged, so I was screwed on calling in assists. The ONLY game I can think of to use all 8 buttons!

Mike Z needs to release that patch soon, the game is not getting any offline support (wonder how the online community is though)
Shit died after two months. It's a shame because not many games could match Skullgirls' online performance(besides real GGPO, BBCT and SCV). SRK had like 6-8 solid online tournaments(weeklies), but the lack of tournament footage kinda made things boring. School kept me too busy to participate too.

GAF was SFxT land since day one.
Good night sweet prince.
There was a brief moment when I felt like this game had no future. I won't say when that feeling came about either. I soldiered on despite that and it will continue to be my most treasured fighter of the generation(since we got no real GG sequel, fuck). I can't really enjoy a non Vampire 2D fighter after Skullgirls now. It really has gone to hell though. I don't know what can fix this anymore. Maybe someone at Reverge wins the lottery? I'm sad now.
Any idea how long the wait is for people who didn't pre-order a copy? I have it paid in full for PS3, but Harada was talking about a delay in release of DLC characters to those who didn't pre-order it.

Also, was SG that bad of a game that no one entered in the tournament? I bought the game, regretfully lol

Doesn't sound like you've played the game for more than ten minutes.

Good stuff to Marvisto.

Hmmmmm. Think I'm going to play sleeping dogs on my stream. First real game I'm playing in a while.

That game looks really fun. I'd watch but with my limited bandwidth, you streaming 720p is too much for me.

I did, for much longer than ten minutes. I played the demo for a couple days, pulled the trigger, and played the game for a couple of weeks. Could've sworn I ended up using lk+mp and mk+hp for assists. My friend and I tried to get in it, but once he got down Parasoul real good, it was hard to overcome that.

I guess it doesn't help I come from 3D fighters, mainly Tekken. I guess I could never get into game that play like GG/BB. Maybe the 2D realm just isn't for me.

Trying to learn gief on my stream, if anyone is feeling helpful I'd be down for advice/coaching.

It's just twitch.tv/venfayth if you're bored :)

Skullgirls players at Next Level (according to Chris G) told him that they're gonna stop coming to tournaments because he keeps winning all of them.

Looks like they weren't kidding.

This is like the stupidest reason to quit playing a game ever.

Is this where that meme comes from?

Turrible. [/Barkley]

This Bifuteki stream is pretty solid. The commentary is almost non-existent (which I don't mind) but aside from watching Chris G take it to Dieminion with IBUKI of all characters, Bif's production value is pretty slick. He's got those SportsCenter-esque transitions.

There's also only like, 240 people watching. It almost makes me want to unhide chat to see what's happening in there.
