I prefer large cinemas with a big screen and good surround sound though.

Those cinemas is in Makati right? And I'll be hanging out in Cavite. I'll plan it out.

So uhhh... second debate for those running for president.
Program got delayed because Binay insisted that he wants to bring 'notes'?

Program was on air by 5 pm and it's already 6:21 pm, not starting yet. And people want to vote for this guy? smh I'm really worried about the elections now.

Binay is a total fraud and must be held accountable for all his dirty deeds.

I'm still baffled by the chance of him becoming the next president. Like I've talked to my family relatives on vacation and it is disheartening to hear that Binay might actually win.

It feels like we haven't learn at all from all the previous corrupt presidents (Erap/GMA).

yeah, don't get why Binay is so popular that he might have a chance to win

Part of me thinks that it just his appeal to the poor and uneducated especially with his commercials and ad campaigns on tv (at least when I was in the Philippines). On top of that, his campaign team has been god tier in terms of avoiding him from any scandals during his campaign run compared to all other candidates.

He's also using the disgusting tactic of twisting his scandals to make him feel more "human" and in touch with the people. He has been caught doing crazy shit though (like handing out straight up money to his supporters) but it gets at most a single mention in the media.

Do someone have a summary of the scandals each candidate have had?

Binay - corruption charges through the roof, backed by Peping Cojuangco

Duterte - human rights violations, probably a prep president for the glorious return of Marcos, backed by Fidel V Ramos (note: I don't like Marcos and his crimes against the Filipino people, but our judicial system is fucked so I don't care anymore)

Roxas - Yolanda funds, among other corruption charges, grace under pressure (cracks in intense moments). Filipino equivalent of Hillary because of his close, suspicious ties to the business world (he's more of an Araneta than a Roxas), backed by Pres. Aquino (a Cojuangco)

Poe - American citizenship (note: her husband and her children are American citizens!) track record (fumbling of Coco Levy fund, Freedom of Information Act), backed by Danding Cojuangco

Santiago - health (did not attend the second debate to have experimental cancer treatment), Marcos crony

In summary: pick your poison

Disclaimer: I work for Liberal Party (Roxas) at a local level in Davao, so obviously I'm a Duterte supporter lol

What is meant by this in the Duterte line?

"a prep president for the glorious return of Marcos"

Is he a way for Bongbong Marcos to gain power?

This is somewhat tricky. The running-mate of Duterte is Cayetano, however, Duterte really likes Bongbong Marcos so it wouldn't matter for him who wins for VP (aside from the other candidates). Either way, if Duterte or Santiago wins, Marcos and Cayetano will surely have a position on the government.

Edit:

I actually don't mind if Bongbong wins. Sure his family might have done grave things to the country, but remove the Marcos name on him and he is actually a decent politician.

Hi, Filipino-Gaf :)

I'm going to spend one year in your country in a business trip, more specifically in Quezon City. I won't be able to take my electric guitar with me, which is a bummer, so I would like to buy one there. Can you, please, let me know of any reliable site so I can check the prices, models, etc?

Thank you very much :) I'll look into it.

I've seen http://www.lazada.com.ph/shop-guitars/ in a forum I'm not part of. Have you ever heard of it?

nah, lazada is good for other things except for those things that you need to touch and feel and test. plus it's like a lottery with lazada in terms of quality (old stocks, crumpled boxes, damaged aesthetics) and warranty (if there is no cash on delivery option it is either (1) expensive, (2) special case (3) overseas store, which with (3) you'd probably already returned home before you get your RMA, lol).

Sounds like a very chill vacation then.
Njah. I'm supposed to go to the Miss Philippines event and to visit a TV host there but I think I might just prefer the laid back vacation this time. I dunno if I should be excited or not. I honestly just want great pictures.

There's not much family left anyway, as most of them have moved abroad to Europe or the Middle East.

Honestly I am not that excited anymore. I think I will just scrap the plans of seeing Miss Universe.

Good to hear!

Only 1 week till I'm traveling to the Philippines.

see you in around in Cavite!! haha!

Audiophile is a good store. You can't go wrong with Yamaha stores. I think they are called Yuchengco stores.

Yeah he won. My feed ain't that flooded like his previous fights.

Must've been due to his very unpopular opinion and current political status.

Nah, I'm not interested in him anymore after his horrendous comments.

So I hear none of the vice presidents are supporting same-sex marriage?

No Politician will support same-sex marriage. It's like asking death to their political career. Filipinos are really conservative. I mean looking at my feeds. It's pretty much a photo of pacman with " 'sup haters " tag on it. And most of the post were talking shit against LGBT.

A member of Jays-GAF (is this even a formal designation) and here too? Sup, Lexxus.

Anyway, I figured vouching for same-sex marriage would be political suicide there. Really disappointing.

Is divorce still not a thing in the Philippines?

Yeah, it is a political suicide to pretty much come out in support of same-sex marriage. I know a lot of gay people who would want to have same-sex marriage, but even they are a minority. I even have some gay friends who are pretty indifferent to it, and they would rather have the government focus their attention elsewhere (like all the other issues such as poverty, traffic, etc.)

That said, some candidates have come out to support civil unions. I am not really sure what the difference is, though. Can anyone explain?

EDIT: Nope, divorce is still not a thing in the Philippines. Heck, even annulment is a costly and stressful process that some people would rather just have live-in partners than go through an actual annulment/separation.

My "gay friends" don't wanna vote for any of the vice presidents, because they don't support same-sex marriage. It's actually not a surprise, because I know they are super conservative (which is hard to live with for me personally as well) but it's still a sad reality.

Only 4 days till my trip. Have started packing my luggage!

A Civil Union provides some of the same benefits and protections that marriage does, but may not be recognized at a federal level. I don't know how the Philippines is divided up above the municipal government level, but it would be limited to states in the US.

Yeah, after a quick google, that's where I'm confused it. Above the municipal level, everything is divided into regions, not states. Would it mean that a civil union will apply nationwide?

Is there a regional government, or is the federal government the next level of government after municipal?

In that case, I suppose it would be nationwide.

Exciting! Gonna be flying out on the 21st of April and staying for 3 weeks! :)

I'm not that excited. But I'm in a rather depressed state to be honest.

I don't know what to do there. Play Tekken 7 at the arcades, watch Captain America: Civil War in the cinema, and eat nice food daily. Then there's three birthdays while I'm there, one of them being mine, but I don't think I want to be celebrated.

And then I'm looking forward to see some of my cousins, but it's not like there's much family or friends left in the Philippines.

Yeah it's boring here and hot as fuck

No it's not that it is boring there. You should come to Denmark, it's much more boring here. Philippines remains my favorite country, but I'm not sure what the plans exactly are for our family this time.

Duterte on Australian Rape Victim: "Napaka Ganda. Dapat Mayor ang Mauna"
They raped all the women.. and one of the casualty is an Australian lay missionary...TSK, this is going to be a problem. After inspecting the body, she was covered up. I checked her face out of curiousity. Bitch mother!, she looks like a beautiful American actress. Bitch mother! what a waste!

And then I started thinking.. . they raped her! and gang banged! bitch mother!, It made me furious.. because she was raped? ah yes but the other reason is...The mayor should have gone first!

He was referring to this case
20 Killed As Attack Ends Filipino Siege

Our country is so fucked :(
-Edit-
Turns out, this isn't the first time he told this story
Not the first time Duterte ridiculed rape/murder of Australian woman

Random question.
Has anyone else in the Philippines imported something from Japan and had to go to customs to pick the package up?
I ordered Hot Rod MP28 from Hobbylink Japan. Now customs tell me they can't open the package to check the contents until either myself or a representative are there. Sooooo inconvenient.

Is this normal?
