looks amazing to me. I was just taking a look at the 60fps version of PS1 RR and I have to say it is amazing just how archaic it looks...and that was the 60fps one!

wasn't DQ8's launch a few weeks ago ?

I expect the PSP lines to be longer than DQ8. Then again, there may be a perception that every single PSP unit has been preordered and there's no use waiting in line. We'll find out soon enough.

That's the evil corner leading up to the waterfall on the Rage Racer courses. Fear of the *thwump* sound was high on this corner! You had to get it perfect in the faster cars, or you'd graze the sides ...

Can't wait for this game!

Yes, even in face of the nitro crap.

GIVE IT TO ME

Rage Racer's intro was preparing you for nitros all those years ago ... ;)

It really does suck that Ridge Racer DS can't even hold a candle to Ridge Racers on PSP. I mean I've been a RR fan since day one, so I'll most likely end up with both, but I'd still rather see Ridge Racer VI on PS2 or GC.

I'm guessing this may very well be the best RR in the series if they can recreate the precise controls and advanced difficulty. The thing that RR does so well is its fantastically designed courses. If Racers simply updates preexisting levels then there's nothing to fear.

The game is on par with R4 visually, if only a bit better. Of course R4 suffered from its inevitable jaggie fate. But R4 still is one of the most visually impressive games of the 32/64-bit era.

In some ways, Ridge Racers PSP looks even better than RRV - comparisons with R4 are laughable; that is unless you're talking about level design.

Ridge Racer is godly.
Load times are nowhere near as bad as expected
the screen is still sploodge worthy
the interface is the fucking BOMB
the unit is sleek
the UMDs are cute
....

it's a pwning frenzy out there, everyone is walking around with their jaws on the sidewalk

More when David recovers.

You're full of shit. :P Seriously, that's not even a matter of opinion. You're actually wrong here. :D

Somebody posted a screen of R4 today and it is still very impressive.

It's not, though. ESPECIALLY in motion. Ridge Racers is smoothly filtered, perspective correct, and loaded with lots of effects and details that simply aren't present in RRT4. Not only that, Ridge Racers runs at 60 fps...not 30. RRT4 has unstable, broken textures and very simple, incomplete environments in comparison. Ridge Racers looks like a PS2 gmae. Not a high-end one, necessarily, but a PS2 title nonetheless. RRT4 most certainly does not.

The RRs screen shots don't the game justice. It looks fantastic, and comparisons with R4 (which IS a great looking game) are a bit off the mark.
