The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Just got an email from a friend who forwarded some promotional email she got from New Line:

Final Destination 3

The team behind the original Final Destination--Writer/Director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files) and writer Glen Morgan--are reunited for Final Destination 3, now in production. The story begins six years after the events of the first film, when high school senior Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has a premonition of a fatal amusement park accident. When the premonition proves true, those who survive the accident are forced to deal with the repercussions of escaping their fate. But fate is not so easily thwarted, and as Wendy and Kevin (Ryan Merriman) desperately try to interpret the clues that might save lives, their friends meet fantastically gruesome ends one-by-one. The film is currently scheduled for a 2006 release.

Phantasm

New Line Cinema has struck a deal with filmmaker Don Coscarelli to bring a new version of his cult horror film Phantasm to the big screen. Coscarelli will produce the remake of the classic film, which will give a 21st century upgrade to the original 1979 film. Phantasm revolves around the evil "Tall Man" who moves from small town to small town, turning the local dead into slaves as he prepares for an otherworldly invasion.

Man I loved the Phantasm series... I'm sure New Line will some how many to screw it up... and Final Destination 3.... with no Tony Todd in sight? Grrrrr

I love the final destination movies.

"Watch while attractive teens suffer painful and bloody deaths! Each one more creative than the last!"

Phantasm was great. The Tall Man was awesome-- scary as shit. The part in Phantasm 1 where the Tall Man is seen carrying the funeral casket on his shoulder was "whoa!" :D

"Boy!" :P

I love the Final Destination series so much, what dumb fun movies. I thought I heard of rumors it was gonna be in 3D though so this is a little disappointing (although who doesn't love amusement park rides gone horribly wrong?). Imagine Final Destination 3D and the amount of fun that could be had lol

For the Phantasm remake they could still have Angus Scrimm play the Tall Man since he's still alive. Hooray!

The new Phantasm is being prepped as an epic trilogy about Mike's coming of age and the fight against the Tall Man. New Line wants it to be to horror what LOTR was to fantasy, Star Wars to 'sci-fi', etc.

I thought that he died several year ago? Well, if not, it'd be cool to see him in action again, though I imagine he'd need a walker by now. :D

hmmm while I hate the comparisons the idea of another Phantasm series intrigues me... intrigues me greatly.

Oh and while Final Destination 1 was better than 2 I enjoyed 2, mostly because that highway accident was just SO kickassly done...

Final Destination was great, mindless fun. And I like Ali Larter :D. The opening scene of the second movie was indeed awesome. One of the finest moments in popcorn-flick history :).

Last I saw him was last october in a series of commercials for Adult Swim on Halloween.

If you watch FD2 carefully you can see how they were thinking about a sequel. There are so many possibilities! Absolute genius series.

...

So it sounds like the roller coaster accident at the beginning is true!

YES!!

One of my teachers brother is the line producer on FD3.

God, the first time I saw Final Destination, I had to stop watching it halfway through. The concept of death working like a moachine and how every little thing that led to their deaths was all planned out like a fucking "The Incredible Machine" level scared the shit out of me for like a week. It wasn't till a few years later that I even remembered the movie and could sit down to watch the whole thing.

FD 2 wasn't as good, but it still kicked ass. I'm REALLY glad they're going to do the amusement park thing for FD3. I remember them talking about it somewhere back when it was just a rumor, and they were like, "Man, wouldn't it be so cool to have like, a roller coaster fall apart?" but it cost too much so they didn't do it.

Sad that it won't be in 3D though. :(

I loved the scene in #2 when he goes to a dentist's office and there's all this stuff that could go wrong with his equipment (so many possibilities!) and
nothing happens and he walks outside to get squished by a falling pane of glass. My friend left the room at the start of the dentist's office because he couldn't handle what his mind was imagining was going to happen. I laughed at him so hard when it was all smoke and mirrors!
