Square Enix posted a new website for FFX's 25th anniversary:

https://jp.finalfantasy.com/ffx25th

"'Final Fantasy X' will celebrate its 25th anniversary on July 19, 2026. To express our gratitude to everyone who supports us on a
daily basis, we are preparing various projects, so please look forward to it!" (browser translation)

Wonder if they have something planned gaming wise. We'll see I suppose

Since people were stinking up the FF IX thread a while ago...

25 years of straight line adventure with the worst side quests in the series.

Good music though.

This game needs a 60fps+ update for PC (lossless scaling doesn't work well with it).
Playing it on PC via the LG G5 looks terrible..I think it's due to the OLED panel.

One of the first games I got with my Ps2. Absolutely loved it back then.
Sometimes I feel like replaying it, but I'm not sure I'd like it as much these days. My tolerance for cringe writing and voice acting is way lower than it was back then. Also the botched character models in the HD remaster bother me.

SE are so shit at this stuff.

They get everyone excited and usually "It's Fucking Nothing".

I would love however, for them to prove me wrong.

Do a proper modern VFX remake of this game. DON'T FUCKING CHANGE ANYTHING apart from upgraded graphics.

This game was certainly a favourite of mine. Beautiful world, great story, great characters and themes, great combat systems, and even the world exploration was fun, despite not having a full fat over-world or open-world.

One of the best games and unfortunately a victim of a stupid meme in the gaming community, many of whom don't understand the narrative.

One of my favorite games of all time. Only thing I didn't like were those stupid minigames. The chocobo racing has taken decades off my life.

Legendary game with one of the most beautiful and unique settings, accompanied by an amazing soundtrack. The last truly great Final Fantasy game, it was the end of an era.

My favorite Final Fantasy game so far. I finished it on PS2 (original and the International version), PS3, and PC.

Even FFX-2, which I find quite ridiculous (and still do), I recently finished. The game is cool, has better graphics and good gameplay, but the story is ridiculous compared to the original, which was more serious.

Can't believe it's been 25 years. Still one of my all time favorites. Been meaning to play through it on Switch one of these years but there's always so many new JRPGs coming out.

Perfect time to remember that canonically the last things to happen in the FFX universe is that Tidus kicked a blitzball so hard he died and Yuna became a born again Christian.

You are my evil twin (or vice versa).

The only scenario where we are not enemies in in a full scale European war. In that case we'll follow the long established Spaniard tradition of maintaining us neutral and sell weapons to everyone involved. But not enemies, non the less :lollipop_content:

Spain has great geographic postion, outside of the shit storm alaways happening between England, Germany (or rather HRE), Italy and France and only having ocean on their other side - not psychotic Russian empire like we have to deal with....

I have great memories from playing this together with friends the summer vacation equipped with the official guide, each with their own save game playing in turns, it was majestic.
Playing each day until midnight, ordering junk food and watching Animes and that Samurai with a kid in a trolley on MTV. What a life, we had it so good.

At this point I've gone through the game completely 5 or 6 times on the different platforms it was released on throughout the years. I love it to death but, really, another one?

Good music though.

And yet, even with that, traversing it and the dungeons is still more complex than FFXVI by landslide, and the sidequests are more fun as well.

Story fell apart at the end, but I still 100%. Game feels rushed in retrospect, I had the same problem with XII.

It still holds well today?

Even though i was a fan of everything Square in PSX era, FFX never attracted me. Maybe because of the sea breeze Chrono Cross art style but... meh.

Always preferred the FFXI XII art approach.

I remember hating the English VO with the exception of Lulu and Khimari. Also no world map. Combat was fun, story was trash. XII is a better game in every way.

Bet you was happy when your dream came true and FFXVI came out.......
Yeah you can keep the Generic FF games, although XII is probably the best one minus the silly combat.
Wouldn't mind a Remake of that
