Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Switch 2 – New footage and Director praises the system specs

I'm extremely curious to see if the backlash on these cards translates to actual lost sales for these companies. I hope so.

Why would they ? It's the exact same situation for Switch 1 games

« internet download required » is the same thing as the game key card

Because on the Switch 1 those games are the exception, not the rule. Over 90% of the announced "physical" editions of games on Switch 2 are game key cards.

It's good for the more casual crowd that only has a switch, you really are getting a decent version of the game. For anyone else however, it's still a worse version of a game you've already played years ago so meh.

No disrespect meant for anyone that just wants to play portable, I get it.
How is it worse than the base ps5 game? doesn't this have the new lighting of the PC version?

Wat

Pretty much all my 3rd party games require a download
According to doesitplay.org and their ongoing testing, only about 7% of Switch physical cartridges actually require a download, and many of the games that require it only require it because the on-cart version has game breaking bugs. The other 93% of games can be played completely offline from start to finish without needing anything from the internet.

Maybe you exclusively play shitty games from shitty publishers?

How is this ironic exactly ?

If I am forced into buying digitally, I will pick the more powerful console obviously. This won't happen on Switch.
Ironic because you mentioned buying the game on Xbox, which will be the only console the game hasn't been released for once this comes out on Switch 2.

Remake and Rebirth are UE4.

The final game might be UE5 so I wonder if that will make it more challenging or less to port it to Switch 2.

I'm interested in seeing how competent the port of Rebirth will be on the Switch 2 as it's a much more taxing game than Remake, as evident by the lack of a PS4 release and it performing worse on Steamdeck than Remake.

Then I suggest having a better reading comprehension.

Otherwise I might as well buy a full digital game on Xbox and have a better experience.
It was about buying physically on Switch vs digitally (so on Xbox, not on Switch, as far as I am concerned). Never talked about this game specifically.

They should probably not switch to UE5. I don't think it offers and significant improvements and is likely to run better on more hardware. Rebirth shows that UE4 is sufficient to do open world stuff and is flexible enough to support all kinds of gameplay modes. Now that their team has more experience, I hope they can be more creative with the exploration. Cut Chadley out and allow more free form progression.

I'm not even fan of 7R series, but this looks fine on NSW2, might add more $$$ for the dev to fuel their 7R3 later on.

Yeah but if they signed the contract back in 2015, I guess they'll have to comply, and isn't the exclusivity window like 6 months only ?
I think it was only for the first game, then they renewed for the second game and this time around it didn't go well so they decided not to renew for FF7R3

No FF7R3 will be timed exclusive it's everything after that if I recall correctly.

Exactly... They only said that FF won't be exclusive in the future

They could do something like they did with Rebirth - contract out the Port to PC/Switch 2 and have them start once the game ships on PS5. And be released when they finish.

Hmm well, not that I care much anyway, I almost never play on release anyway. But if there's no exclusive deal for FF7R3 then they'll definitely have Switch 2 and PC versions day one, PC have been growing a lot in Japan and Nintendo basically dominates the entire region

Final Fantasy remake project is a fucking travesty and insult to the original game.
It's not as good as the original, nothing will ever compete with it imo, but to call it a travesty is bit much. Remake and Rebirth can exist alongside the original, they do not have to replace it.
