It's the exact opposite. For a beginner, she is a terrible character for that very reason. She offers a bit of everything, but specializes in nothing. Basically... she is a fantastic specialist character for already well built teams with the core done and you need to fill in some spots, but for a newer team where the core isn't there. She won't do every well.
For example,
Turn one would be Break ATK/MAG
Turn two would be Break DEF/SPR
Turn three would be Break ATK/MAG... again. They only last 2 turns.
If you're relying on her to cleanse, it means one break is gone. To heal her own MP, one turn is gone, to heal others MP, one turn is gone. It's just too short to keep up on her own without help. She is a fantastic secondary for already well equipped teams, who have a main already for the core roles, ala Soliel or Ramza on JPN. But for newer teams, her skills don't last long enough, she is too fragile, lacks any sort of healing, and the lack of a focus. Where I would recommend against it. It would be far better to bring Rain in who can do both in one turn, freeing him up for the next two to do anything else. Who can also survive a hit and do Cheer, freeing up the most cost expensive spell from Leanna and she can focus on healing.
For new players, it would be better to focus on characters who can do one or two things very well, before adding in characters who can do a lot of things, but all those things meh. As I said, I think she is a solid character for people like us, but a jack of all trades unit typically isn't very good for a newer player. She would be someone who would get more use 3 months down the line from him, then now. If I would say get it, it would be for the Rez and Esuna, not for the breaks. But rather, keep Rain for the breaks.
