I'm sharing a Tidus in the 900's ATK who's using Brotherhood and Apoc so he won't have an issue with this trial. He'll get stronger when I finish a Shine I'm farming for him but he's still in the 900's in the meantime so hopefully he can help you with this strategy

Best thing about Ayaka is dualcasting reraise and AoE full heal every turn. I rarely ever need to do anything else but if I do, AoE every ailment heal is fantastic when needed, though it can't be dualcasted with an HP heal spell. She has MP battery and AoE Arise like Tilith so... yeah, she is almost perfect.

Yuna is great because she has reraise, ProShelgga + the most important BarGas, but the lack of a good heal and niche BarGas sometimes can bite you in the ass. She requires W White Magic Rod or Dualcast materia (better because you can use the BarGas and heal).

Garnet is also great because of her AoE
turns +40% all elements + good heal skill (better than Curaja but not Curada). Her raise and enhanced Curaja kinda sucks and she requires the W White Magic Rod or Dualcast materia though. It's pretty easy to make her invulnerable to all elements you need for any battle.

I don't have CG Fina, but I guess her spammable LB and AoE +45% all element resist make her the best by default as she has all of Ayaka's relevant skills. She really only lacks stone and stop ailment heal.

I do have a Fohlen I haven't leveled, I'm thinking I should just level him and he can be my third DPS but I don't think he'd chain well with Tidus, right? Noctis sadly doesn't chain with anyone but still so damn good it doesn't matter.

I want her to be best healer. First disc was great with her. Then that whole WHY ARE YOU NOT USING A PHOENIX DOWN killed that. I didn't feel like my group was the same after that.

1) Absolutely not
2) Less clear but from the most recent reddit discussion it seems yes (assuming the limited units are in the pool at all, e.g. you're not getting Tilith from it). The 10+1 ticket still only gets you a ~0.5% chance at 2B though so don't hold your breath.

I think the devs knew. The community definitely did not. I think most of us are still stuck in the What Does JP Do mentality, but back then it was way worse, and few people could imagine a dps world beyond Orlandu/enhanced Aileen. What didn't help is people hated hybrid back then. But the devs definitely knew what they were doing.

They knew hybrid was both bad and disliked and so they gave it ridiculous modifiers. They gave her an 100% chance to survive a fatal hit which I don't believe was an oversight considering every other unit that has that skill only has a chance for it to prok (I believe). They gave her only 1 weapon to use and it just so happened to be the one weapon type in the whole of GL with a stacking materia. None of this was an accident imo.

I think for me the surprise comes from the fact it took the community so long to realise how good she is. It really showed that few players are willing to take the time to assess for themselves what is good and more importantly why it is good. Even now people just say this is what JP did so this is what we must do. As across brought up earlier the most recent example being the Robot and the lack of enhanced Ramza. I hope Gumi continue to make great exclusive units, but I think it's more important that our community becomes more open-minded to new concepts first before we can receive more gifts like her.

I think the amount of different gear needed to really bring her to life played a big part in the delayed reaction on her. You basically had to TM farm up a completely different gear set than just about every other DPS in the game and future DPS that people were looking forward to.

One is 10%ATK + 20% Damage against human, the other is the MAG version of that and the last one is a 30%MAG materia.

I know. I used DC Refia for the longest time and am still very attached to her, but I made the jump to using Tilith as my healer about a month ago and havent gone back to Refia once.

So will gaffgarion become almost as good as dkc at finishing? His imperil is only 50% which definitely isn't as good. However, his multiplier will be the same at 750% and he won't kill himself in the process if you are dual wielding. Seems like a solid finisher. The only other problem is his selection of weapons.

I recently started playing again after a long hiatus, and now the game bug has bit. Have tons of catching up to do!

Still learning about chaining, finishers, and all that fun stuff.

Sent you one as well, I too need to beef up my gaf friend list.


I just spend a bunch of event currency on awakening mats, so I now have everything I need to get both Warrior of Light and Ramza to 6-star. I feel like I probably need to actually progress through story mode for gear and espers, but the event seems like the best use of stamina for me atm.

I guess the other really great passive gaff gets is his 50% damage to humans goes up to 75% but that's really only helpful in certain situations. I think you're right though. DKC is better also because of his self heals.

Do your characters die sometimes and you have to revive them? Do you wish that didn't happen anymore? Her limit break takes care of that pesky problem. She also has very good general damage mitigation with HyperNullAll. If your healer is swamped you can use al bhed potion to heal some statuses and 1k health or AoE 100% revive the party. Those are the main points. If you're not expecting to be in much danger just swap her out for another DPS. Her main contribution is in the really hard fights like trials.

I contacted Gumi and they have confirmed that the Nier Gacha units will also be obtainable from EX & 10+1 Tickets while the event is available.
