Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Plot Complete, Development Underway

I liked Rebirth, but it's airing into the same territory of Ubisoft games, where I don't want it to be any bigger, or have less activities so they can be higher quality with less filler.

The multiverse elements are also about as lame as the Assassin's Creed real-world bits, and I just want the original aspects expanded on.

As for the Switch 2 version of Rebirth and part 3, I can see them heavily optimising these versions compared to part 1 which seems largely 1:1 with it's visuals with the PS4/PS5 release.

Rebirth runs on the Steam Deck OLED in a playable state but it is basically unoptimised at all levels and can be a bit rough. The Switch 2 as far as I can see also has more power and potential than the Deck (see SW Outlaws and RE Requeim). So combine the extra power of the Switch 2 and with more thorough optimisation they can ship a very good handheld version of Rebirth with minor cutbacks (resolution, 30fps locked, using DLSS, scaled back poly counts and NPCs etc).

As for part 3, I think they push the final part to have visual improvements over Rebirth on the PS5 (lighting solution especially), whilst also finding a way to port it down to Switch 2, perhaps with even more cutbacks compared to Rebirth in certain parts, such as scaling back the quality of the worldmap when flying the airship.

The PS6 will simply allow all these games to run at a native 4k and at 60/120fps and if the devs wants they could also port the games up to UE5 and implement lumen, nanite and ray tracing.

This might be a bit beyond the scope of this thread, but ever since I finished Rebirth, I've been hoping to see a some theories on what the fuck was going on exactly, but I was so confused by the end of Rebirth. I don't know if it's just me not remembering the original game's story that well. I did only finish it once when I was like 15 years old, but I really felt I needed that 3 hour youtube video explaining all the plot to me afterward lol

Two leading theories, I will spoiler mark both.

Sephiroth has somehow used the lifestream post AC to travel back in time, and fuck with the party. Changing how things play out, the whispers are guardians of the planet, attempting to preserve the OG timeline, but Sephiroth has duped the party into thinking the original timeline is the bad outcome, as they are only shown stuff like aerith dying, meteor, etc... so the party chooses to "remake" their fate by defeating the whispers and create a better outcome, this has created a multiverse scenario. But Aerith knows she has to die to succeed in saving the planet. This is the "Sequel, not a remake" theory.

Nothing has changed, except now we are experiencing everything via Cloud's own eyes, and all the crazy new shit is in his head, making the remake really focus in on his instability. This is the "Cloud is fucking crazy" theory
