Really enjoyed the beta. Going to get this on pc, if I purchase the ps4 version when it comes out, can I continue my character on ps4?
My laptop is not the greatest, but want to be in from the start.
Of the 3 cities, I like Limsa's main theme the most. Ul'dah's theme tries too hard to be dramatic and epic and manages to be completely wrong for the city of greed and vices it represents, whereas Gridania's is forgettable except for the passage which borrows from The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton theme. Limsa's is the most appropriate for the city it represents, it has a series of enjoyable loud and soft passages, and it has the most variation within it's various passages.
However, in the surrounding fields, the Thanalan themes really stand out from the rest for just being really good. The La Noscea themes are merely ok, and again the Black Shroud has the most disappointing music.
For anyone who still cares, the reason that the BGM for ARR doesn't loop anymore outside of the cities is that only the city themes are actually composed in a way which are intended to loop endlessly. Uematsu was and is famous for composing music which can loop forever seamlessly, and Soken hasn't tried to emulate the master in this regard. All the field and dungeon BGMs have a start and end, and are not meant to loop. Which they don't. This can't ever change unless they have the soundtrack re-composed yet again, which I doubt will happen. So non-looping field and dungeon BGMs is how it's going to be. Sorry guys.

Non looping music is the best thing they did music wise (also because I dont like some newer remixes compared to the older themes).
Even the best song starts to be annoying when it keeps repeating, and I like to apreciate the ambient sounds.
My solo piano arrangements of various pieces from Square Enix's MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn composed by Soken/Nobuo Uematsu.
I'll keep adding tracks over the course of beta/release.

I don't think they're updating the client that you just downloaded anymore, so maybe if you just registered your account it can't access that data or it refuses to.Hm, I have a problem to get this to work.
I have a PS3-Beta key and downloaded it from PSN.
Now when I want to login with my SE-Account, I get a "id or password incorrect"-message, but it is 100% correct.
I successfully logged in with it on the SE-homepage.
Square Enix support didn't answer me yesterday, so I thought I would ask here if someone knows this problem.

it's all about twilight over thanalan brahMay be a tad old, but this popped up on my reddit feed and it's more than worthwhile enough to post.
Here is the playlist of all the songs that have been performed and recorded thus far.
[Piano Solo] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn ~ Ul'dah Theme (Night)
*swoon*
Barring something completely and utterly unforeseen, yes. You should be able to pick up your character on the PS4 version, when you buy that version of the game later.

Beta's not online right now.

My friend got this e-mail because he's been lazy and hasn't registered his beta key yet:
Makes it sound like it'll be pretty early in August.
For once something we agree on. Let us put aside our racial differences in order to make Limsa the One-True city to rule them all.
I got the mail too even though I was already in the beta, I entered the code from the mail and now I see two "Final Fantasy XIV" entries in my account page, under Services. Am I missing something here?My friend got this e-mail because he's been lazy and hasn't registered his beta key yet:
Hope its the day after Producer Letter Live.
Hey, if the music is as good as Ragnarok Online's music, it can loop all day.Non looping music is the best thing they did music wise (also because I dont like some newer remixes compared to the older themes).

FFXI and FFXIV are best in the business as far as music goes if you ask me. RO being a close third... so I don't think there will be any problems in that dept.

The soundtrack is 'okay' to me so far. I mean it's good. It doesn't sound like Mizuta is doing the majority of the tracks for now. It's missing his signature progressions.
Hopefully it follows the same route as FFXI and all the music in the expansions goes to Mizuta.

All ARR songs are by Soken. I think the only Mizuta songs are the Company ones?
I hope Soken continues to deliver throughout the expansions. No need for anyone else to take the reins.

Mizuta also composed the track for U'ghamaro Mines (V1) if I'm not mistaken.
It reminds me of Moblin Menagerie (Movalpolos), also from Mizuta. I think Mizuta's style is quite easy to spot when you've played FFXI for years!U'ghamaro Mines is one of my favourite 1.0 tracks, reminds me a lot of CoP stuff.

*You have been disowned from the Lalafell race.*
Reading all these comments gives me the impression that no one would want Uematsu to come back at least to write the main theme for any future expansions.
Just like I like Amano's artwork, I'd still want Uematsu to write at least the main theme, but as for a full soundtrack I really enjoy Soken and Mizuta so I'm ok with them.
