With materia in it, HQ crafted endgame gear is on par with Bahamut stuff, maybe slightly better.

So would you say it's worth pursuing a craft versus using the time leveling in dungeons instead? I rarely get super deep into crafting in other MMOs just because it doesn't feel like they pay off until the very end.

To be fair, the game is absolute shit when it comes to updating positions in a timely manner. I've seen tanks fall dead on instagibs a mile away from the target zone.

God I hope they fix this. It's so annoying, especially when I am so used to precision timing in these games. At first I thought it was just lag, then I thought it was because it didn't work the way other MMOs work, now I realize that it just doesn't work at all in some cases. What I want to know is if this happened in beta, and if so why didn't they fix it back then? Maybe it's just a case of the servers being overloaded and it will work it's self out, but it's a major detractor to my enjoyment of the game. There is nothing worse than knowing for a fact that you, or someone else, did something correctly and still getting killed because the game can't keep up with it's own mechanics.

Well you have to get the levels to equip the gear. :P I usually level on my Warrior for a few levels, then level some Mining, then level some Armorsmithing with my mining materials, then go back to Warrior, etc etc.

Is there any easy way to identify if a quest giver has a quest even worth accepting or not, by level?

I'm running around like an absolute idiot trying to find a quest to do that is acceptable for my level, and it doesn't help wasting time talking to people giving out Level 1 quests when I'm 16.

Enter a zone, pull up the recommendations window. It should give you quests in the area that are around your level.

Nope, all worthless Level 1 shit that would give me 50xp? Guess I'm really in the wrong zone, but the story brought me here... Oh, well, I'll figure it out eventually.

Also, is there an easy way to identify which Aethernet Shards you have and have not Attuned with, yet? Other than running up to it and right clicking...

Now we're cooking with gas.

So I got that fantasia potion in the mail... Now I am conflicted. I don't know if I want to change my dude into a sexy girl or not.

Aside from all that unfortunate server mess, this game is really restoring my faith in Square, piece by piece.

After the dire Final Fantasy XIII (possibly the most disappointing game I've ever played?), and the laughable, pitiful launch of Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in the same year, I really did just give up hope.

Final Fantasy XV isn't looking like my kind of thing, either, but I'm just glad that we at least have this.

I grew up with FF6, 7, 9, etc, this feels like those, with the trappings of 12. I like how that feels. It feels nice.

So I'm trying to get a party for farming.

But I have no clue which messaging thing I should be using.

What's the diff between yell tell shout and whatever?

Which is world chat and zone and w/e?

What is the 90k error anyways? I have yet to get one.
The only error I've ever gotten is the infamous 1017.

"Final Fantasy Error 90000 - Disconnection

Should you actually manage to get into the game you may end up experience the Error 90000.

This error is a general purpose error code for a disconnection from the server and, as a result, could be any number of problems.

Firstly, it could be a disconnection by the server - either the server has kicked you off for whatever reason or Square Enix is closing the server for maintenance.

Alternatively your internet connection could have failed to send enough packets to the game, and as a result it has not updated your position and actions - causing you to disconnect.

In this instance you can simply try and reconnect but, due to the congestion, could be difficult. Ensure you have a solid internet connection to minimise random disconnections."

Should I discard/use up all my regular crafting material that I got from random monsters? I'm at like 97/100 bag space Q.Q

A shout (/sh) is a zone wide chat. Personally, I'm glad there is no world chat, there's enough idiocy going on the shout channel.

Other ones I can think of:
/s = say immediate area around you
/fc = free company
/p = party
/l = linkshell
/y = yell similar to shout but not as far-ranging
/t = tell private chat
/r = reply replies to last private chat

Finished main story.
Tops SWTOR for best story in a MMO.

Dethroned FF IX for my personal 'best soundtrack of all time'.

Square is saved.

alt+letter does the same thing, as a fyi.

Finished the main story, very enjoyable. In terms of story the game really does feel like a nice hybrid of single player FF story with MMO structure. Not to say that this hybrid doesnt have hiccups and one of the major ones I feel is having the story require you to complete three 8 man instances. The first went fine. The second was a silent speed running team who didnt wait for those of us watching the cutscenes, leaving us locked outside bosses several times (on the plus side they were very well geared so we never wiped once). The final dungeon was a mix, everyone but one of the healer's was fine with those of us who were new watching the cutscenes. The healer bitched about it constantly and would pull any boss he could early those disrupting the cut-scenes for those of us watching. Rather irritating but the enjoyable post dungeon ending made up for it.

Now off to level a tank so I can take my revenge on dps queues! (What possessed me to make my first two jobs dps I dont know)

Just did Haukke Manor, guided by the always helpful Lilun Haisha (I think he/she is a lurker on here?)...anyways at the end boss both the tank and the healer bought it but myself (THM) and an archer were able to take off the last 1/4th of damage. Exciting stuff. DPS for life!

Didn't post earlier due to WoW raiding, but thanks to the advice here, GAF FC members and a surprisingly competent (and friendly!) PUG tank we one shotted Gaurda when I tried her again. What a fantastic turn in the story too! i can't wait to see how it ends. i thought i was going to take a break to craft some more but i might push through to the end.

Why is the Garuda music so good? Why is it SO GOOD? Some of the best boss music I've ever heard.

It's a decent way to achieve alternate progression, but you'd have gaps in your gear without running dungeons. Unless you decide to level them all, which is doable, but crazy.

Are there special recipies and special mats? Or is it just the stuff you get in the crafting log in HQ?

It's all just part of the crafting log, as far as I'm aware.

So when do classes start to fill out? Got my grd to 10 and its boring as hell. Was thinking if it didn't pickup by 15 I would try another class.

I wish we could queue duty finder with only newbies, running dungeons with people who wants to speed run it is annoying and boring as fuck.

Hope I'm almost done with the last few dungeons because I'm definitely not enjoying it even if the bosses are "easy" with the right strategy.

Anyone got any tips for the level 25 Conjurer quest?

Is that the one where you have the
three conjurers and the annoying girl is yelling at them to stop cos it's damaging nature or some shit?
If so, it's easy. Just target the adds. Ignore the boss. That's all.

Haven't tried to play since Monday out of 1017itis. Tried to log in tonight, 1017 before any of my chars loaded, over and over.

Is there any new trick to trying to play now? Other than spamming 0 forever?

I actually thought I'd be able to get in without an issue, so silly.

Don't know if this has been posted yet.

Patch 2.1

Good King Moogle Mog will returning as a boss fight. More than likely he will be accessible through the duty finder. Please look forward to it.
A new difficulty for Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan fights will be added in this patch as well. They haven’t quite decided if they’ll call them hard, super, ultra, extreme, or any other awesome intense name. I can see it now. “Ifrit, for real this time”.
Also new Hildibrand quests and FATEs are being added. If you didn’t know, Hildibrand was a comic relief NPC from version 1.0. He has his own… unique sense of humor.
The Wolves Den, a 4v4 and 8v8 arena will be opening in this patch. You can travel to it by boat from Lower La Noscea, and to enter the arena you must use the Duty Finder.
And lastly, Mists, the La Noscea player housing region will be unlocked in 2.1. Houses are available to Free Companies and individual players for a monetary value.
Patch 2.2

New Primal fights will be introduced. Yoshida stated that they will be “ones that new players haven’t even imagined.”
Either Leviathan, Shiva or Ramuh will be in 2.2. It has yet to be revealed which one, but they all seem like fun fights and fun stories to flesh out!
Gilgamesh might make an appearance as a boss fight in either 2.2 or 2.3.
It is possible that Free Companies will have the ability to summon their own Primal (FATE?) battles in this patch. No concrete details have been announced though. If not 2.2 then possibly 2.3.
And Beyond!

Patch 2.3 is the target release for the Golden Saucer! The reason they haven’t revealed much about it is because they are currently busy working on it. They are hoping to have at least 3 mini games available before they release it into the game. Yoshida says perhaps a card game, a mini game, or a snowboarding game. I’d love to snowboard down Coerthas with my Lalafell!
It has also been confirmed that the first draft of the first expansion has been submitted! Obviously there is a lot of work to be done, but at least they are planning for the future!
