With all the drops from dungeons and story quests, are Weaver and Goldsmith really so important? I Have all of them but I don't see me needing anything I make for myself other than potions.

Alchemy is needed for the WHM relic weapon so it may be good to level it to 50 so you can craft one of the components and meld the material yourself. Botany is good for support for some items and crystals.
I'm planning on raising all of them as well, but WVR to 15 is supposed to be pretty good and having it capped will allow you to meld material to your gear as well.
Yeah...I should probably do that. I should probably do a lot of things to the control scheme...
I've read that Botany and Carpentry are good for WHM. That's what I'm leveling right now on my CNG, soon to be WHM.
50WHM, pretty sure I have the setting on. Why is it bad?
If you try to cast a regen while getting out of an ae (running away form boss) it will turn you around and you might run back towards the AE. Instant cast spells are really annoying with auto-face on and you do not need to face the target for any of our heals or spells.
It's at this point purely aesthetic (and annoying imo)

I know. What I described is more of a snipe targeting strategy for distant targets.

I've never had a cast while running change my direction of travel...
Given that your spells get interrupted if your target moves too far left/right (but still in range), I thought facing your target to cast was important

is their any footage of PS3 combat? I vaguely remember the combat in the original PC version being vaguely like a FF rpg (although I could be wrong), whereas the screens of this new version make it look like a traditional MMO
also I had no idea there was going to be a PS4 version, is there any upgrade path from PS3 to PS4 or would you just have to buy it again?

Just mine the points and go through the gathering log. You get a bonus amount of EXP for obtaining an item in your gathering log for the first time and EXP each time you obtain an item.
You get bonus EXP for each successive successful attempt at a point (resets if you miss or the attempts at a point run out). I believe they're:
5% for 2 in a row
10% for 3 in a row
20% (?) for 4 in a row
Best done in conjunction with crafting objectives in mind saving you gil
The whole scene needed proper voice direction, but at least they had it in the game.

Does anyone have a link to an up to date skill spreadsheet? I'm trying to determine what level I need to take each class in order to have access to all cross class abilities on all other classes.The most up to date I can find is Phase 3, and it's missing information on ACN/SMN/SCH.

Pretty much everything leading up to it, like the cutscenes, is phenomenal as well!
The feeling when you realize that you are actually visiting a full HD town with NPC's , other players and no Fal'Cie to be seen!

Gooboob is exclusive to legacy characters who hit 30 or so in 1.0. Their old chocobo got turned into a veteran chocobo too, if I remember right.

Well, ALL PS4 games support Vita remote play natively. But it sounds like it's something YoshiP is actually paying attention to and talking about which is awesome.
Remote play overall might be a very good reason to pick up a Vita. Not kidding, I love being able to relax with handhelds.

really wish you could 'reset' sidequests for other classes. FATEs and leves are just not interesting... and dungeons need to give way more exp.

Damn it.
I'm so hot/cold on this game. I figured they might treat this game differently since it's an MMO. Playing it on a handheld would be such a great casual way to play. Duty Finder smothering the whole game is pushing me away, but if it's on Vita that's suddenly an appropriate design to me.
