I have never been hacked before. None of my other MMO accounts have had this problem. I do not log onto shit on public computers or on friends' PCs.

As I said - I would not be surprised if the hack took place on Square's server side. God knows they cannot manage their duplicate and triple registration or service pages for shit.

I have now added the one-time password to my account and activated it on my phone.

Now all I need is to get my account unbanned. grumble-grumble

This happened to me with Diablo III as well. I never get hacked, quite sure there's no malware, don't fall or phishing, etc. Sometimes it just happens with a game this popular. If your password was an English word or an English word + numbers they probably just brute forced it.

I would always recommend getting a one-time token option, if the game offers it. THat's what Diablo 3 taught me anyway.

Wow, just heard that if I buy the PS3 version, I can hop to the PS4 version for free. I was holding out for the PS4 version, now I don't have to!
Don't believe this. If for no other reason that Sony licensing details likely mean Square would LOSE money by giving PS4 away for any reason. It's reasonable to expect a discount, but getting it free is simply not in the cards.

Ive Never been hacked before so it's obviously Squares fault, yep.
Sorry if I soured your day, but yes, it most likely isn't Square's fault, mea culpa. I am just a bit angry because this has never happened to me before.

They'd have to have some pretty spiffy hardware to brute force my password. But I suppose it is not impossible, however my password was not really a word in English.

It's being reported as official.

What dungeons can I look forward to from 28-40 ish?

im probably missing something idk

When do the dungeons get interesting? So far all of them have been boring with repetitive large amounts of trash and just nothing interesting going on.

Wait till 32 & 35 & 38

Brayflox & Qarn & Cutters will show you who has skills to pass those dungeons

Things ramp up quickly, if you thought all dungeons were going to be vanilla flavored all the way, LOL, get ready from some chunky double fudge rocky road annihilation

What's the overall deal with character building? So far I'm lvl 20 Archer, and I'm not seeing much in the way of that. Gear is limited, stats are basically set in stone for what class your playing (i.e. you're not making a DEX Paladin build), and player roles are strictly defined (i.e. tanks, dps, heal all strictly defined and are expected to perform exactly the 'correct' role).

Is there a variety of gear near the endgame for each class/job that makes it interesting to customize your char (in terms of actual gameplay as well as appearance)? Are there any unusual cross class builds to experiment with? Or are all of these things kind of set out in front of you, with not a lot of creativity for character builds?

I'm starting a new char to experiment and see what is possible, but I'm just wondering if I'm expecting too much.

Yup, Qarn was something. That last boss.

Character building is very straightforward in this, no skill trees and not much at all in the sense of mixing up your stats gear wise. The only real complexity to building is in leveling up other classes and what abilities you choose to mix and match to create your custom build.

Queued as tank for the three initial dungeons and got Satasha. I like Satasha.
Too bad there was a Lancer that kept running ahead aggroing mobs, leaving what we were fighting to go attack other stuff and completely ignoring my marks for kill order.
Just before the last boss, while I was pulling the pirates on the left, he went and started pulling the other pirates and killing them on his own, at which point I left the party.
I don't even feel like telling anything to this type of player that can't even be bothered to say hello at the start of the run.

There's no mix-matching. Every class/job role is defined.

You can try your best and use different stat attribute point allocation, but most head towards the way the game sets out for them

I mean if you are playing PUG/MNK you'll never add + points into mind to boost your second wind buff, rather just throw into STR all the way

In XI you could be goofy as you wanted to be with main/sub job combinations
In XIV everything is pre-defined to a point with a little choice given in the matter

Example do you want PLD to go full STR, more damage, more hate, etc.
PLD go full VIT for HP or do 50/50 and do 15/15 bonus, do you try a PLD style of going 10/10/10 by going STR/VIT/DEX so each is equally boosted up
Those are the 3 choices you can get for that job, I mean I highly doubt someone is going to throw their bonus points into MND/Piety for PLD

Some are going to be locked into one stat no matter what
Healer - MND
Nuker - INT
DD - STR
Bow Class - DEX

There's no give or take to fully flesh out a character right now, maybe in the future someone finds the right formula for each class to be it's best and shares the info
Most just go min/max

Also we are not held hostage to those bonus points once allocated, can be reset for 10,000 seals by purchasing the Hymn item from your GC

So do what you like, if it's not working, reset and try another route?, going to be costly, 2-3 resets is roughly 2-3 days of FATE farming really hard (I mean the best you can get seals from FATEs tops out around < 300 with a Gold rank)

When do the dungeons get interesting? So far all of them have been boring with repetitive large amounts of trash and just nothing interesting going on.

I've done up to Aurum Vale (need to do that tonight), but the only fun dungeon has been Qarn. Dzemael would be second, but it's not really a close second. Everything else has really standard trash pulls with nothing else happening, and bosses with repeat mechanics.

Edit:
Is there a variety of gear near the endgame for each class/job that makes it interesting to customize your char (in terms of actual gameplay as well as appearance)?

There's not much in terms of customizing a build. Only the 30 points that you get to allocate per class, and even that is more or less all going to be stacked into one stat without much planning or thinking. Gear is similarly rigid.

You will be able to customize appearance later, though, when they add in cosmetic tabs that will allow you to wear other armor purely for appearance.

are swimsuits just outfits? Does this game have 'cosmetic outfit slots'?

And is it just me, or is it easier to find dungeons as a tank the higher level you get? I guess at some point the scrubs are weeded out.

Also, i hope there is SOME kind of discount for PC owners for ps4 version. Remote play while at work, could be fun.

lol does the box version actually come with a disc, or just a code?

Man, its been ages since i've unplugged my dvd drive and replaced with another hard drive :X

just had no need.

Cosmetic is coming in the future.

I wish I looked at endgame sets before rolling WHM. Not a fan of Darklight and AF2.

Darklight is OK I guess but WHM has always been the Little Red Riding Hood of FF..

Not sure I've seen AF2 yet. I wish I could just keep my battlemage set. I hope they introduce texture customization..

I'm almost level 31 and I think I need to progress the story a bit. Finished up Toto and my level 30 class quest, but I'll level up MRD to 15 really quickly to unlock Dragoon (finally). Really want to start doing interesting dungeons and getting much better equipment than I have now. Even the GC stuff doesn't look that good yet from my rank.

Guess I gotta FATE farm a bit more too. I was in Eastern Noscea for way too long, lol. Any other good places to FATE farm between levels 32-38? I usually FATE farm 2-6 levels above me and I still get Gold badges every time.

Darklight would be great if it wasn't for the hood.

Holy shit at the framerate dips on PS3 version.

Was doing a fate yesterday in the shroud fighting mob of trees and I swear it slowed to 5fps. Actually, any fate that involves Blizzard II spam makes the screen shudder. Can't wait for the PS4 version.

Aside from this, it's a beautiful game. Can you eventually enter castles like the one seen in Aleport with the giant shards protruding through it?

Make sure you limit other players's spell effects in the settings.

Anyway, I was doing Haukke Manor and the first boss dropped some new boots for me. Stats screen showed it as an upgrade an indeed, I was wearing those plate boots I mentioned earlier. Too bad I didn't realize these boots were "regular" boots instead of 2-slotters, so I instead proceeded to tank the rest of the dungeon without pants. Needless to say, my defense was quite lacking and I was on the brink of death on every pull, and even managed to go down on the last boss :p

The lesson of the story is that make sure to always wear the best possible armor you can, because every point of defense counts. And, also make sure to wear pants when tanking.

made my day.

is there really no way to compare items? Like let me see both info windows up at the same time.

It gets iffy too with 2 slotters.

Stop making me do math!

kinda... well more like 'cash shop cosmetic' items you see in f2p games.

basically you wear your uber purple gear, but am wearing a tuxedo maido suit or something over it.

I find that horribly annoying..transmuting is ok if you do it with battlegear only but I seriously don't want to see bikini chicks or cooks running around in dungeons :/

Sorry, just my own opinion..
I think it's fun to have casual stuff for out of battle but not in fighting situations.

that's basically how DCUO did it.
every armor part had a "style". equip it once and you unlock that style for that body part.
So you would basically be wearing the best armor but look wise you can pick from any set that you have worn once.
