This is relatively a regular occurrence for mmos. They should obviously know this happens a lot.

When it happened to me a long time ago in WoW, blizzard restored my account straight away.

Essentially if I want to play any more of FFXIV, I need to buy the game again and start from the beginning...

You don't have a one time token setup?
If not, it's your own fault imo (sorry, don't mean to be rude) but they provide that option.

Well - someone else managed to log in with my login information, create a random generated name character on Faerie and try to sell some gold with it. A few minutes ago I received this email:

We are writing to inform you that we have closed the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn service account registered to this e-mail because on 09/09/2013 you breached the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn User Agreement. The relevant sections from the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn User Agreement are:

2.2 Real Money Trading, Farming and Power-Leveling. You may not sell, rent, hire, charge, mortgage, purchase or exchange for real-world money or value any in-game currency, accounts, characters, in-game services, or in-game virtual items. You may not play the Game for the purpose of acquiring virtual items or advancement in game play on behalf of a third-party or for the purpose of selling any virtual assets to a third party for real-world money, specifically including gold-farming and power-leveling services.

We found evidence of this violation from the following activity log, which led to this closure:

I have now reset my password, but the damage is done. I have no idea whether my character was affected since I am at work - and now I cannot log on either any more.

I submitted a ticket via the support site (it is fucking retarded as the rest of their shit services), but on the last page it says that I have to attach a document. What document? What the fuck is wrong with you people? It also says they will not inquire further without my submitting the document... again - what document, please?

I am pissed off right now. Fuck you Square, fuck you in the face.
 
Quite happy I was able to get 7 swimsuits with ash I horded, wasn't expecting to have one until veteran rewards kicked in for me, but this "event" is very subpar.

I am curious whether I was hacked or whether their own database was hacked. With all the stupid shit they have going on, I would not be surprised if they were hacked.
 
I accidentally purchased duplicates of one of the swimwear items and I can't discard it? What madness is this!?

I understand not being able to sell it for Gil, but I can't even throw it away? So I have to waste one of my inventory slots for an item I don't need/want? That's just really strange. O_o
 
Time to use the security token app on my phone with reports of people getting hacked and the gold farmers spamming.

I've been holding off with all the login issues, didn't want an extra thing to enter, but it settled down for me at least.

Haha thats funny I already had 150 ash on my retainer, I guess I picked it up during fate grinding at costa del sol. Bought all the things :D.

Now to go into a dungeon wearing a swimsuit.
 
What're good crafting/gathering classes that go with Bard?. Reached level 50 but I'm not continuing the story until my friend gets home from work.

Thanks, I guess I have no choice.

Still just having it there would bother my OCD, but I guess I can't help it. Actually maybe it's because I haven't used it so it isn't "bound". Maybe? Either way I'll live with it, I guess. Still odd that you can't destroy it though.

I bought the physical token, because hey, piece of mind, right? But you don't need the token if you have taken adequate steps to protecting your account. It sucks for anyone who was hacked, but it's pretty much their responsibility to keep their computer and password secure, and if it's happened in multiple MMOs they need to take a closer look at what they are doing wrong.

Yeah I accidentally bought male trunks. Now I can't get rid of them. Don't even care about the ash I spent, I just want to destroy them. May put in a ticket, see if they can remove them.

New password with every log in.

It's definitely recommended. I have the physical one that came with my CE, but if I didn't have that one, I absolutely would have downloaded the iOS one. It's added security to your account, what more can you ask for!?

I have never been hacked before. None of my other MMO accounts have had this problem. I do not log onto shit on public computers or on friends' PCs.

As I said - I would not be surprised if the hack took place on Square's server side. God knows they cannot manage their duplicate and triple registration or service pages for shit.

I have now added the one-time password to my account and activated it on my phone.

Now all I need is to get my account unbanned. grumble-grumble

I agree.

In all my MMO history (which includes pretty much every MMO since UO) I have not been hacked once. Nowhere. Ever.

I still added the iOS token to my account just to be sure :)
The amount of hacked accounts and raise of spammers makes me think it might have been a breach on SE's side.

Yeah, it's really strange why you can't discard them. I was thinking, you could actually mess up your entire inventory [if you wanted to go out of your way to do it] by farming Wet Ash and buying nothing but swimwear. Fill your entire Armoire and Retainers/Personal inventory. You are now no longer able to collect any items.
 
I dont even know what I have to do in this event. I just bought the stack of ashes on the boards and sold the spares. I managed to get almost no money loss so no big deal...
 
how do i get my exp to show up on my log? It randomly started displaying off the log makes it hard for me to know how much i earned.
 
What's the next dungeon after Toto? It better be good.

Also, I need new gear badly. Level 30 and I still have Iron Scale, with nothing better popping up for me.

Haukke Manor and it's imo the first one with a somewhat not push-over endboss.
Also I totally loved the look of the zone and music.

I think they got the dungeon progression right, especially for players new to MMOs. They ramp the difficulty up step by step. They could be a bit more creative with mechanics though. It doesn't always have to be aoes :/
EQ2 had the best dungeon and raid boss encounters..even better than WoW imo.
 
The cat people just look like humans with tails, think a little more originality could of gone into them tbh.

But I guess all the guys need to have sexy females to roleplay ;)
 
Wow, just heard that if I buy the PS3 version, I can hop to the PS4 version for free. I was holding out for the PS4 version, now I don't have to!

1. So is it worth playing on the PS3?
