The subject of discussion was people requiring full darklight just to do AK, though. I'm not saying that there are no actual gear checks in the game, but they are not as early as AK and people should quit acting like gear is what's making you successful through places like that.

Yea, I have seen people fail AK, but that place is specifically for gearing up at 50 while one works towards Darklight. Anyone with AF should be able to clear it.

Guys, do yourselves a favor. Buy. This. Mouse.
I have the Razer Naga now [Molten Ver.] but when I replace it I'm definitely going with the G600. I'm getting the "double-click" problem with the Naga with the left/right mouse buttons being an issue. It's not horribly bad...yet, but I know it'll get there.

This is the second/third Razer mouse with this problem, and I'll definitely purchase no more from them.

Account creation is the worst I've ever seen in my goddamn life. I was finally able to purchase the game but now I can't log into the launcher.
Christ sakes. Is the one time password mandatory?

One time password is the security key token. If you dont have one, then nope.

Brayflox has some nice scenery.

Ok. Fine. I won't be clicking any more. This better be god's greatest gift on earth though.

It's an awesome mouse! I barely click on anything any more during battles. Everything I need I mapped to the programmable keys on the mouse.

So I just did my first 3x turn in of HQ items for a trade leve (weaver). Entire process took me from like halfway into level 20 to 22 and was... one of the most monotonous things I ever did in an MMO, even moreso than EQ2 crafting. Can't see myself doing much crafting on this game.

Opinions, I guess. I'm not a fan of the majority of crafting involving making the same things over and over (including their subcomponents) that are of no use to me or anyone else. AKA grinding, but it's not a new thing in MMOs, that's for sure. It's mostly making the subcomponents manually that sucks; can do them auto of course but for much reduced xp, and I don't have legacy server infinite gold or anything so I have to maximize experience gain per material.

And if you're not wild about it at first, consider this: HQ 55 gear is better than the Darklight pieces.

Well, it's pretty close, as I recall. You can meld stuff to it too though.

I dig it mostly because at max level, I can just quick synthesis for random junk or I can manually do it for a pretty high chance of HQ items. I've made most of my spending cash that way personally. That's always been the most enjoyable thing about the XI/XIV style of crafting, the HQ products.

Getting to 50 and finishing the story, one thing kind if disappointed me. I REALLY wish they had done the FFXI thing and allowed you to continue getting EXP into the level cap level. So much wasted exp if you hit 50 before those final missions, and it would be nice to just kill a mob someday when they increase cap and ding 51. You'll still have to get all the other exp to get to 55+ or whatever they increase it to.

They had that in 1.x and it didn't carry over. D:

anyone suggested to square where if i click a person's name in chat i can just add their name to the blacklist rather than copy pasting it. saves me the trouble.

Been banned for a hacked account for 10 days or so, now. Put in a ticket, 4 days later it was closed, telling me to call in to phone support.

The line is busy pretty much from open to close, but I was finally able to get through to wait on hold...been holding for 30 minutes now. Does anyone have any idea how long the hold times are when their phone lines are maxed out like this?

When I called in I had to wait an hour and half maybe?

From what I've read around two or three hours or even four waiting is not uncommon.

You may luck in if you call first thing or just before they're suppose to be open. But yeah the wait times are atrocious.

Digital version on sale at Amazon again. I wanted it so bad on PC a couple weeks ago to switch from PS3. Still going to do it but not very excited. Card Hunters has taken up all the excitement I had for this game.

Collecting tokens and repeating dungeons is a staple of any MMO nowadays, but Square could do a lot more to mask the grind. A grind really only becomes a grind when you lack options and are forced to repeat the same action/instance over and over.

They should at least implement the following as soon as possible:

1) Hard-mode level 50 versions of all lower-level dungeons, that reward tomes of philosophy. They should also drop gear that's comparable to Wanderer's Keep ilvl (possibly even scaling up the awesome-looking Infantry/Cavalry/Battlemage set from Brayflox). I heard mention that this is coming in 2.1, but they should try and release it earlier. Each dungeon could also drop dungeon-specific crafting mats to keep them relevant for years down the road (ie. diremite web in Toto-Rak)

2) Wanderer's Keep, and possibly Aurum Vale, should also drop tomes of mythology but at half or a third of the amount of AK.

3) CM and Praetorium should reward the most tomes of philosophy, possibly upwards of 150-200 per run...but only if one of your party members has never completed it before. This way you can't farm it for tomes, but it still gives incentive to help out new players complete the story chain.

Got my 2nd Quicktongue Materia 3. Only took a day or two but I might have gotten lucky. Bought Turquoise Rings off the AH (3-4k per) bought the +Spiritbond gain bracers and neck from the GC, and proceeded to run dungeons til I could convert the rings (~6? runs). It was kind of annoying but not a huge deal, my healing was more than enough for WP and AK even without a "real" neck/bracer piece on, and I saved a lot of money. I might try to get more for a discount to GAFers and to help save up for my house next patch.

That would certainly convince me to turn shouts back on.

I would like them to implement something similar to WoW where you get a bonus for your first dungeon run of the day.

Blizzard 3 makes Transpose useless. Adapting what some of you guys said this is my rotation:

Swiftcast (if avail) > Fire 3> Fire FIRE FIRE FIRE>Blizzard 3>Thunder 3>Fire 3>Repeat.

Have been doing better. Mowing down opponents. Just unlocked Freeze as well as a BLM but haven't found great uses for it yet. Except on Fates.

I like it, but it's another MMO I think were crafting is 2nd fiddle. I want another game where crafting is where the majority of equipment comes from.

It quite possibly could change down the line. The thing they're lacking currently are recipes for higher tiers of gear and to make them not tied to tomes (the ingredients). The systems are in place for it though. Materia and HQ gear add up. Those need a few adjustments as well but it's mighty sexy.

Crafting is like the best thing in the game.

I hate it.

But I'm almost positive I'm doing it wrong. I'm also not a max level crafter. Currently 30 LTW and 28 BSM.

How the hell do you level crafting at a decent rate? Turning in HQ stuff with leves would be the best option, but whenever I use a touch, I barely increase my quality. The only way it's worked for me is if I already have HQ items in stock when I craft, and then hope for good or excellent condition while I craft it.

Otherwise, a leve is only 6-10k, and I don't want to completely exhaust my allowences. Tell me your secrets, crafting masters.

Is the Shadows Uncast (Maelstrom) quest broken? I keep hitting complete and I am not getting any reward despite getting the "Quest Complete" line. I am able to constantly hit complete since it never goes away.

Did you choose a reward?

Not sure exactly what quest that is, but if it has multiple rewards to choose from, you have to choose one first.

It's the Grand Company quest for promotion. There are no quest rewards to choose from.

Edit: Found the problem. A full inventory was the issue despite the fact I wasn't receiving any items.
