I hate it.

But I'm almost positive I'm doing it wrong. I'm also not a max level crafter. Currently 30 LTW and 28 BSM.

How the hell do you level crafting at a decent rate? Turning in HQ stuff with leves would be the best option, but whenever I use a touch, I barely increase my quality. The only way it's worked for me is if I already have HQ items in stock when I craft, and then hope for good or excellent condition while I craft it.

Otherwise, a leve is only 6-10k, and I don't want to completely exhaust my allowences. Tell me your secrets, crafting masters.

1. Great Strides. Steady Hand, and Inner Quiet are your absolute best friends.

2. Get CP gear (mostly accessories) to fill out how much you have. If you can get HQ ones cheap or if someone can HQ them for you, use them.

3. Keep an eye out for HQ ingredients, especially in bulk and cheap. The more quality you get, the higher the XP bonus.

4. If you can, slot as much control materia as you can without breaking your bank. Inner Quiet will help but the more Control you have, the bigger gains in quality.

5. Create macros that do the quality improvement routine for you. It makes it easier to do larger batches without tiring yourself. Just do something else like watch a show because you'll have it set up as 3 button synths, basically.

6. HQ leves are huge XP so aim for those when you can. the 3 item turn in that repeats is the biggest payoff when you can HQ all of the items but the single-item is incredibly good as well.

7. In the case of leves, feel free to HQ lower level leves and use those to XP until you can't anymore because more consistent HQs will provide you more bang for your leve.

Thank you so much for this.

I'm gonna hit the markets hard when I get home. I'd really like to get higher in my tradeskills.

It's the Grand Company quest for promotion. There are no quest rewards to choose from.

Edit: Found the problem. A full inventory was the issue despite the fact I wasn't receiving any items.

Ran into that problem once. One complaint I do have about this game is all the restrictions they have on items. I mean, for example, I have a few Aetherial tanking items that I rolled need on without thinking (already had one,) and I'd loooove to give them to people that need an equipment boost.

Nope! Everything ends up either being unique/untradeable, or having a spirit bound on it, if you've used it at all!

It drives me nuts. :P

was bored and decided to try my luck with pug ifrit. walked out with an axe. not that much better than darklight, but it looks fun!

is weekly tome reset every monday?

Using HQ materials doesn't increase your exp afaik, only how much quality you increase does. 3x turnin leves may be prohibitively expensive at high levels (40+) and if you have more than sufficient leve allowances, you might want to aim for high exp single item turn-in insteads. Also +CP food may be very cheap because typically no one buys any food.

I'm getting pretty burnt out on this character creation blocked stuff.

I have a friend who's been trying to play with us since early access and still can't get in. At this rate, we'll be 50 before she can get going, and we're progressing kinda slow, so that's saying a lot! :(

yea same here. A friend wanted to play for weeks and finally got it after DL opened up, but now cannot create on Ultros...

On that note, is there a list of the leves that allow multiple turn ins on the same leve? Or does any "turn in 3" leve qualify?

Gaf, tell me if I'm going crazy, but I'm pretty sure I had some of my gear disappear on me. I switched to my leatherworking set, did a bunch of crafting, then when I went to put on my lancer gear (piece by piece, I forgot to make a set), my chest piece and boots that I had been wearing were gone. I know I didn't sell them, since they were obviously in my armory chest... Has anyone else had anything like this happen or am I going insane? Thankfully I'm level 15 so it's no big deal, but it really threw me for a loop...

Man, I am loving this game but have run into a brick wall when it comes to progression. Cannot seem to luck into a group to take out Garuda (story mode)... after waiting forever in the duty finder, the group that pops has at least one person who will not stand behind the pillars even when told about it, and after a few wipes, they never learn and just drop out.

Tried off and on all day. So burned. Fucking Garuda DF, man.

I don't understand why they made titan hm duty finder compatible. In convinced it's impossible with one. And what were they thinking when they made it 2 tanks grr

crafting gods

what's more efficient to use, Waste Not or Ruminate?

What? they're completely different.
If you have to choose, Ruminate.
Waste Not is basically useless anyway, unless it's for Ruminate at 20dur -> Waste Not -> Careful Synthesis (II) x4.

The main trick for proper HQ is: (80 durability items, warning: it's time-consuming)

Get Inner Quiet up
Keep Steady Hand (II) up
Spam Hasty Touch like there's no tomorrow
Every single good that pops up, burn it with Tricks of the Trade.
When out of durability, use Master's Mend II (Or best option available)

When at 30 durability, throw a final Great Strides -> Standard\Advanced touch
Rumination at 20 durability
throw either Waste Not + 4x careful or Steady Hand + 2x standard.

HQ items = higher base quality when starting synth = more XP. Plus add the quality you'd get from the synthing process.

3x Turn-ins depends on synth and craft. It was very easy for GSM but I could see it being an issue for other ones.

Thanks, I'm not that high up yet in level for crafting, so I was just wondering if Rumination or Waste Not would be best for 40 durability synths. I think the end result is that...they're the same there. :\

Is having Stoneskin available as a PLD necessary at all? Just the thought of FATE grinding CNJ for 13 more levels makes me die inside.

Believe I'm close to finishing quest line leading up to garuda fight. If you need that fight still by then and your on ultros ill help out. Currently lvl 31 drg.

Edit: scartch that im way off lol. Quite a ways away.

3x3, proper HQ.

The basic twist is going Great Strides, doing other stuff (Synth\Hand\Quiet\Whatever) waiting for a Good proc, and drop Standard Touch on it.

The good twist is having Alchemist and Culinarian at 5, and going into Hasty Touch \ Tricks of the Trade chains.

40 durability synths are infamous, anyway.
Get a macro that does something like that:
/ac "Great strides" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Standard Touch" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Great strides" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Steady Hand" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Standard Touch" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Great strides" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Standard Touch" <me>
/wait 3
/ac "Basic Synthesis" <me>
And call it a day. Trying to HQ 40-durability synths is HARD.

Err, this was supposed to be an edit. How do i delete a post?

Okay, tips on FATE farming on a healer?

The mobs die before I can even get a single cast off, even instant casts. I'm constantly getting bronze and silver.

This is stupidly frustrating.

Join a group.
If the zone is stupidly overcrowded, don't even try to farm alone.

Sad thing is, I am in a group. Full group. We're not THMs so we're not getting any tags, and the enemies are dying before I can even get a single Aero off.

There are at least 100 people here near Quarrymill.
If you're a WHM, you'll get your revenge at 45 when you learn holy. I know the feeling though.

Yes it increases the base, but it doesn't increase exp gain, it's as if you're starting from 0, is what i remember. So for solely levelling, HQ mats doesn't really matter. There's a cap of +300% exp anyway.

I'm guessing maintenance is being done? I bought the game but can't download it. Kind of puts me off from playing the game at all but it's an MMO and this happens all the time.

grind fates...

lvl 43!

hurray!

Does like 1 chain of main scenario quests. and like 3-4 total sideevents.

At 33ish%, now get to 44.

>.>

think im done with this until some updates.

For some odd reason, tanks are more rare than healers now. Took us a while to find a tank when queued up for Brayflox earlier.

i guess a lot of people waiting for GTAV or something? lol

got a party, but tank was taking a crap ton of damage again...repeat of a few days ago :(

Unsure if my legacy free trial ending on the same day GTA V is out is a good thing or a bad thing
