Everyone should be made aware of how much these can improve your framerate. I just put 'Others' to 'Limited' and I get a huge framerate improvement during FATEs. Whatever you feel like of course.

Does this also make sure NPCs get loaded first instead of players?

Archer might be a good class for you.
There's solo mission right up until level 15, so you won't feel pressure to act a certain way.
Also, if you choose Archer or a mage class, you'll have less responsibility in dungeons, because you'll be DPS, simply following the tank's lead (unless you're Conjurer, expected to heal)

My advice is just to go at your own pace, when you reach level 10, you can switch between classes and try your hand at gathering and crafting. Give them all a go :)

Awesome. Thanks. I'll buy it digital as soon as square allows me.

As has been said, no. The culling is handled on the server side, so there'll need to be a fix on that end before we see any change about it.

EDIT: I'm assuming you mean enemies disappearing during FATEs etc or something so forgive me if I misunderstood.

Nope, it doesn't do squat for order of loading.
That sucks. They really need to do something about that issue. It has happened way too often that I needed to find a NPC with a quest or something and he is the last to load.

I think shout is zone-wide while yell has a radius, like /say just much larger.

There can't possibly be a server-wide chat channel that all players can use freely. It would be barrens chat, but with 3000 participants.

People dying to Odin right now. The FC chat is as close as I'll get, but it certainly sounds hectic. Meanwhile, in Eastern La Noscea, that scenery:

Level 46 and I have to get to 49 to continue the story.

Bullshit.

Where can I go for quests?

Mor Dhona isn't offering me anything as I've done them all. Hunting log I completed a few levels ago.

There is a sidequest chain you'll get at the place in vesper bay. You'll probably be totally out of quest for two levels though. Dungeons, FATES, Hunting Log will get you there.

What video card would give me better performance than a ATI 5770 HD 1GB? Lower the price the better, I'm guessing nothing under $100 would?

I managed to squeeze 5669 on the benchmark though, I hope its okay.

An ATi 7770 can be had for under $100 at Newegg, but I don't know how much of a performance increase that would buy you...

Here's a hierarchy chart that compares different levels of video cards - so find your video card, and then look 2 or 3 levels higher and see if you can afford one of those. According to the site, 3 levels higher will give you a definite noticeable improvement.

Hmm. Can't be CPU related, least I hope not. Its an AMD Phenom II X6 3.2 hz. Though I only have 6gigs of DDR3 ram.

I just meant I didn't know if the boost from a 7770 vs 5770 is worth $70-$100. I think your CPU and RAM are (mostly) fine. Personally I prefer a minimum of 8GB in a system, but I don't know if that's your bottleneck or not.

Yeah, its about a 2 year old card. Think its time to upgrade. I'll see how the game fares with the current card. Is the video options in the game the same as the benchmark ones? I know I have to turn off ambient occlusion and screen glare, those were the 2 biggest framerate killers.

Im a lvl 44 WHM and wondering about starting crafting, a little bit late maybe ;)

But the thing is how good are the best crafted armor against AH armor for a specific class, is it better or worse?

So any tips for healers? I haven't really put my healing spells to much use so tips are welcome!

So far, Just make sure you focus on the top left of your screen where your party's health is. I try to play it conservatively so my mana stays up and aggro on me stays low. Im a mouse and keyboard player so i point and click names in the top left corner to heal. I assume that's the best way? Also, keep an eye on aoe when you're in dungeons. I strafe around, moving when I see I'm in the red. It keeps my Health high so I can focus on others. I'm not high enough level to say much more. It keeps my party alive that way though. I haven't had any wipe outs despite when someone decides to run off on their own without communicating. That was only twice though.

On quests where you have to kill stuff to accomplish the goal, you can simply switch to your class that's good at fighting, then after you're done, switch to hand or land class to reap the EXP reward.

Well, you can move the party list down closer to your hotbars. I have the party list in the middle of the screen, kind of bad considering how much action goes on in the heavy-duty dungeons, but that way I can keep an eye on the screen and an eye on the party at the same time, so the benefits weigh out.

Is FFXIV usually this blurry? I currently only have Lumasharpen enabled in SweetFX and my nvidia inspector settings are set to default/disabled with no antialiasing. Also on the Beta drivers.

Pay attention to the face.

The F_ keys are probably more effective, especially once you get to the later dungeons and things get hectic.

IIRC, the default is:

F1 = Target Self
F2 -> F8 = Target Party Members #2 -> #8.

If you're primarily a "clicker" right now, it might be a bit of an adjustment but it's worth it in the long run.

***Full disclosure: I don't play a healer but I use the F keys for /assist targeting and it works great on my Bard.

anyone know when they're gonna open digital downloads again? I've got a friend who can't find the game in stores anywhere.. seems like they're losing business by keeping new people locked out now that servers are stable (for the most part)

Strange, game froze up my PS3 during Halatali. Never had that problem before. I hope it is a one time thingie. Strangely, it put me right back in the dungeon. I didn't know it could do that. Got disconnected earlier in the fight too, but just when the boss became invurnable.

Game froze the other day too, the music was still playing, but I couldn't do anything, even get back to the xbm.
