I'm confused by something, I keep reading in this thread and during open chat within the game itself that many people are lacking in possible experience in this game.

It almost sounds to me like many are just grinding themselves up to max level without doing all the hunts, quests or leves at the proper times , obsessed with simply hitting the cap instead of enjoying themselves.

Is this actually the case or is there actually a lack of things to complete near the end of the game ? There seems to be a wealth of quests at the start which is good because it hooks players in and then as the quests get fewer and further between you can do hunts and guild leves / hests as well as the class quests. Getting to level 15 seems fairly simple and even hitting 20 by the the time you can get into your first raid dungeon doesn't seem impossible if you can party up a few times.

Is it after that first dungeon that things slow down ?

fate train picks up around 20 and when people get a taste of fate xp why go for anything less

The thing is, the best way to level up once you get to about level 30 is through FATE farming, since grinding with a group gives you a faster EXP output than in dungeons or levequests.

Yes Pachinko.

But this is basically the conditioning people have gotten in modern mmos. Nothing until end game is even worth doing. This game doesn't do any favors with the more interesting content not even starting until 35 or so.

I think because hunts will run out, quests are boring as hell and also will eventually run out, so you're left with dungeons every 4 levels and you need to grind yourself to the proper level to do those.

For your first job you can mix a few things up, on your second job there aren't really much quests left to do, for example on my warrior I've done all of the hunts but one for my rank (too lazy to look for it) and I'm lvl36, hunts don't get you very far, levequests get repetitive, so I just resort to just afking around and doing fates since it's the quickest until my friends unlock their next dungeon that we can do together, then back to fate grinding I go because they need to go back to doing boring quests to unlock the next mission.

And I think I need 230k exp to level up per level?

Also quests are limited so jumping on fate trains is a good idea for your first character, saving as many quests as possible for your next class since you get exp buff for getting 50 already (apparently).

Did I miss Odin on Ultros???

Crashed the server apparently.

I believe it's a 50% EXP boost for mob kills and FATEs only if your main class is always leveled up one above your secondary.

hey guys, gf wants to play the game but the bench mark rated her laptop 1853 - slightly slow.

Can we just lower some setting so she can have smooth performance?

Ah ok. Yeah I'm enjoying just playing the game normaly because I don't normally play MMO's. Wow lasted me until level 20 and I lost interest, guild wars 2 has been pretty good but I'm bored with my class... and I'm barely passed level 20 there too.

The key seems to be having an IRL friend playing with you because I'm doing that with FF14 and it's much more entertaining that way.

I leveled a 50 DRG first. I've recently leveled a WHM to 45.
The entire time I was playing my CNJ/WHM I was receiving a base 50%+ EXP from multiple sources. Killing EXP and FATEs both gave +50% EXP.
I can't comment on quests as I have none left.

https://pay.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1lmnov/bonus_exp_towards_second_class/

It seem that if you have a 50 already, anything else you level with have +50% all the way

Ah, ok. The first level 50 is going to be a pain, though :p

Only got my DRG to level 31 so far.

Try another class to see what the exp bonus is. It seem as long as you have a higher class you get a good amount of bonus.

From that same link.

I am pretty sure it is 50% for any battle class less than your highest-leveled battle class.

I only heard of this bonus from watching streams. The guy already had Bard at 50 then started conjurer and white mage. he mentioned he got 50 fast on it because of the 50% bonus because of his bard.

GAF I'm in a dilemma. I already started with a Gladiator but I wanna be an archer now, should I just say fuck it and go paladin or should I go archer like I want to. Would it mess my character up if I changed to an archer? I'm on Lvl 15 if it matters.

Won't really matter much, you may as well switch earlier than later since you will still have the lvl15+ quests to do on your archer.

A little late to the party but here's my HUD (Taken from my laptop since I'm out of town atm so the graphics are all set pretty low).

Keys 1-9 are all mapped to my mouse (G700) and I use shift and alt as modifiers to access hotbars 2 and 3 respectively. Everything else, I just click on.

You can't mess up your character. The only impact multiclassing has is access to more skills and an EXP bonus for your secondary classes.

The gold spam on Faerie is really something. It's just scrolling so fast you can't even read what it says, and it hasn't stopped since I got on.

I removed shout/yell channels on Shiva EU and Siren NA. It's the only way to not go insane, for me.
I was annoyed that Ultros had a character creation restriction, since my friends couldn't join me, but on the other hand, at least I don't get that spam (for now).

Finished Aurum Vale tonight with Sumie.
Helped their group on the final boss, then ran the entire thing again later.
I don't know if its just because our group worked so well together and my slightly better gear helped out but man that 2nd boss wasn't a problem at all this time.
Also had some really good heals coming in.

5 for gold 1 for silver I believe.
Oh that's not bad,
Hope Odin is the same, though his gear isn't great so at least the barding is cool.

So I put together some macros for the Warrior. My goal was to free up space on my hotbar without sacrificing an optimal playstyle. I figured out that each ability that is off the GCD prevents you from activating another one for exactly 0.5 seconds, so if you insert a /wait 0.5, it will chain them together perfectly. I'm also making use of /recast so that I see in my chat window the next time I can use my major cooldowns.

Combo simplifiers (keep these on 1 and 2, then Storm's Eye, Storm's Path, and Butcher's Block on 3, 4, 5)

/ac "Heavy Swing" <t>
/wait 2.4
/ac "Maim" <t>
/recast "Infuriate"
/recast "Unleashed"

/ac "Heavy Swing" <t>
/wait 2.4
/ac "Skull Sunder" <t>
/recast "Infuriate"
/recast "Unleashed"

Helpful cooldown chains:

/ac "Infuriate" <me>
/wait 0.5
/ac "Internal Release" <me>

/ac "Bloodbath" <me>
/wait 0.5
/ac "Vengeance" <me>
/wait 0.5
/ac "Berserk" <me>

Went to Walmart to get my sister a copy cause their website says there is limited stock at a local store, but they couldn't find it on shelf or through their scanners. It was listed as deleted with 2 somewhere.

Just placed a site to store order to force them to find it hopefully.

Just wondering, what determines the number of Limit Break bars in a party? I've been in groups that had only one LB bar, in another I had two LB bars.

Dd Ifrit Hard in the DF and got hit a few times because of positioning. Someone bitches but still goes smoothly otherwise. Joke's on them, I got the claws on my first try.

Seriously though, they need to give me the ability to reach through the screen and slap these assholes.

Maintenance already over? Still no character creation on Ultros what a joke... Anybody knows how much server transfer will cost and when it will be available?

Myths got reset last time because of an apparent bug where it wasn't being reset for some folks. Having fixed that, I doubt this would be the case this time.

I think the bigger problem is that I didn't do a lot of low level side quests on purpose to have them available for my additional classes but it's freaking hell to figure out which quests are for which level and to remember where they are. They really need to switch the journal according to your current active class and level imo.

Can't you activate quests in the side bar? Just look up the ones for your level and activate it, I'm probably mixing up ffxiv with other mmos but for some reason I remember quests being marked by levels. I'm probably mistaken though, and yeah that needs to be fixed if it's not in.

i got a friend who preordered, he has the cait sith minion and the coeurl mount
he says he can't ride the mount? something about unauthorized

do you need to finish the level 20 quest 1st before being able to ride any mounts?
