I'm a lvl 50 WAR... I have 27 separate hotkeys.

Yeah I think between macros, attacks, pots, etc I'm at 20-25 on DRG. Glad they give you so many bars to use, and allow you to move them around too.

There's an option to turn off unassigned slots if you want a cleaner look.

Yeah I want that for the bars on the sides but not the main set in the middle (because I'm weird). Since I can't do that I just leave them all on and deal with it(tm).

I have 18 hotkeys that I have easy access to on my WHM, with an additional hotbar set up just for dps actions. Can't remember how many total, but I think I might have 6 slots available on 3 visible bars. These do include chocobo actions though.

Mind you, I'm only a lvl 39 Warrior, but I haven't even used up a single a full Cross Hotbar on my controller yet. Mind you, I'm using Macro's, and have items and some other commands set to the Num Pad on my keyboard.

mmo controls just don't work for walking up spiral staircases. Which is why this game fucking makes you do it a few times because a darn npc camps out at the top of an observatory.

gamepad master race. i will beat you up those stairs any day of the week.

I use all 4 right side buttons on my WAR, but I duplicate my main combos. I just swap out the d-pad commands depending on what I'm doing. i.e. defensive buffs are on one set, enemy debuffs are on another, wrath combos on another, and so on...

Oh I'm sure this is old too but it helped me. Adding "/blist add <r>" as a macro is the best way to handle gold spam whispers. It'll auto blacklist the last person to send you a tell (after prompting you of course).

Makes all those ignores a bit easier.

I bought the Logitech G600 mouse (on sale at Amazon for $54.99):

The 12 hotkeys on the side are awesome for this, as well as the middle scroll clock and third right-click. Got everything I need map to the mouse.

Heh, yeah I tried a pure keyboard and mouse setup a couple times, and immediately noticed just how clumsy movement felt. That's probably not a big deal for a lot of players, but coming from a console background swift agile motion is important to me.

I have the Razer version of this. It's amazing. Totally worth it.

Been using this for a week now. So worth it.

Even when not using the extra buttons, its just a really, really comfy mouse.

Well, I try to keep everything I use frequently in combat on a single crossbar. Switching between crossbars when things are reasonably calm isn't a big deal, but once things start getting hairy it's too easy to screw up.

Mind you, I suppose if I had all my primary combat actions attached to the same buttons, regardless of what crossbar I was on, that'd mitigate that risk.

All I need is a one click report function now. The current system is like filing a police report.

It can depend on movement controls setup and how much you use the mouse for direction. You get used to it.

I still missing the keyboard only setup from FFXI though. All of your targeting and movement done on the Num pad was just so awesome. Not sure if I could pull the same setup off now.

I'm fairly certain I noticed a pure keyboard configuration available, when I was messing with Keybinds.

I wish there was a token system for the drops on the regular dungeons. Its imposible to farm a dungeon for a drop if its not one of the lvl 50 ones...

This seems to be a very necessary thing later on with boss adds that have instakill attacks. Plus it's nice to have that burst damage to just flatout kill adds very fast.

Yeha, buff-wise DRG is pretty selfish but it pays off when I can pop every buff and end a combo with a ridiculously good 100% guaranteed crit Full Thrust for a ton of damage (that also heals me).

Hnnnnnggggg....

I want to try it, but it's so much easier to move and cast with a keyboard/mouse combo what with needing fast access to additional hotbars though mouse buttons instead of ctrl/alt or clicking hotbar items manually.

If only burst damage would kill Titan.

DPS matters and DRG is on the low end compared to BRD and MNK who are 900 times easier to play.

I thought you really had to work for your dmg as a MNK. BRD or BLM are easier, but you lose out on dmg with BRD songs. BLM seems the best for overall aoe dmg.

Is there any way to lock down the hotbar placement? Its weird to me how certain UI elements are locked unless youre at the UI editing screen....while others can be moved around whenever you want.
I accidentally move my bars around sometimes.

I just did the level 30 CNJ quest and got Cure II. Should I switch it with Cure I? Cast and recast time are the same but MP cost is higher. What's everyone using with their CNJ/WHM?

DRG is harder. Mainly because so many abilities require precise positioning but Square decided to make every dungeon boss an AOE fest that requires me to constantly be moving and not able to position my attacks properly.

I was going to stack Skill Speed to fix this issue but the numbers just don't pan out to be worth it at 50.

Nah MNK can stay on the flank and press 1, 2 and 3 for mega damage.

DRG has to put in a lot of work (DoTs, buff, positional attacks) to do OK damage.

It's just not worth it lol.

Just picked up this on ps3 (was waiting for ps4, but hey free upgrade!), played XI for years, hope this is just as fun. Fingers cross for Samurai class.

No, no, no

II isn't automatically better than I.

You will eventually get a 'proc'. When you cast Cure I, there's a 15% chance you'll proc Freecast, which gives you a mana-less cast of Cure II.

No, you should continue to use Cure I as your primary cure. It stacks all the way to 50 and deals decent healing. Better if you have a higher crit rate on top of a high MND score.

You will eventually get Freecast which allows you to pop a Cure II for free. I only use it either when it's free or I need to drop additional healing on someone in one go and Divine Seal is down. You can eat through your mp really fast on Cure IIs if you aren't careful.

Thank you :) I read that trait's description so I figured something like that was the way to go.

I'm actually more curious now about SMN in comparison to all other dps. What do they have that others don't? The only thing they seemed to lack in their mid 30s was any burst dmg. Seems mostly DoTs.

Edit: Kinda of surprise by MNK too. Had heard there was a ton of positioning with it, but I guess that's not really the case.

What kind of commands are you guys putting on the side buttons for these mice? It could be just me, but the side buttons just seem awkward for most stuff on my Razer Naga. This is one of those peripherals that I want to be able to use but an intuitive setup hasn't presented itself to me yet.

Since maintenance is happening today, I thought this might be a good time to post this. I generally try to keep these posts restricted to our website but I know there are still many that haven't registered or started checking it regularly yet.

Membership Update
For those of you on the waiting list in the Ultros GAF Linkshell and those reading here in the thread that still want to join, we will be clearing a considerable amount of room in the Free Company this Friday. Invites will start going out Friday evening. Members in the Linkshell, members with verified NeoGAF accounts, and members that have registered on our website will be given priority over other users.

We will continue to review and maintain our roster closely and on a weekly basis, through the end of November. Everyone's free trials will have expired by then and we will have a good idea of what the active community is going to look like. At that time, we will probably be able to relax our policies on membership culling.

Free Company Events
It may be impossible to coordinate over 500 people's different schedules but I would still like to gauge some interest in event planning. How is everyone progressing? Will there be many new 50s this weekend? Is there any interest in setting up events to clear the remaining story dungeons (3 8-man dungeons - Westwind, Castrum Meridianum, Praetorium), Amdapor Keep (standard and speed run walk through for first timers), Wanderer's Palace (first timers), and Ifrit HM (first timers and those that have not yet obtained their weapon)?

If you haven't already, please register at neogaf.guildwork.com. If you are not a member of the Free Company yet, you will need to submit an application under the 'Recruitment' section. If you are already a member of the Free Company but haven't registered on the site, simply register an account and then link your Lodestone character to your profile. Site access will be granted based on your Free Company affiliation.

All events will be planned and scheduled through our website. You can sign up for attendance via the calendar. In the future, depending on how the drops work, for Bahamut's Coil and Crystal Tower (2.1), we may begin using the Raid Tracker to track attendance, progress, and rewards. It is important that our members start using the site instead of relying on this thread, especially since we have members that are not able to participate in the thread.
