I thought you really had to work for your dmg as a MNK. BRD or BLM are easier, but you lose out on dmg with BRD songs. BLM seems the best for overall aoe dmg.
Nope. Monk is pretty easy for damage. The thing they lack move that produces guaranteed burst and their AOE is a bit middling. But crits for Monk, especially on Bootshine and True Strike from behind, are very powerful. They also can go for a long time without needing TP because of lack costs and a lot of skills that can be used to give breathing room for TP to regen.
The combos that I use, I have macroed:
Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch
Bootshine -> True Strike -> Demolish
Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Rockbreaker
I just go down and up that macro so my buffs are intact and I drop Instant skills inbetween.
I'm actually more curious now about SMN in comparison to all other dps. What do they have that others don't? The only thing they seemed to lack in their mid 30s was any burst dmg. Seems mostly DoTs.
Edit: Kinda of surprise by MNK too. Had heard there was a ton of positioning with it, but I guess that's not really the case.
SMN are fine in damage. A big damage source they have is DOTs which can't be parse currently. They can burst using Fester and Energy Drain if need be.Fester in particular can crit for pretty good damage. I hit it for 700 or maybe a bit more with Raging Strikes up at around 44/45.
In fact, Garuda is meant to aid SMNs in doing burst damage. Their last skill increases the timers on DOTs which means you can keep tossing ruins until the Fester timer is reset then burst, all without having to reapply.
Sorry dude. but monks that only do that are awful. They also have a lot of work to get the most out of their damage.
Huh, not really? Monk isn't rocket scientist and there really isn't all that much work to it aside from maintaining your position. Apply Fracture/ToD in there and do your combos to keep buffs up and insta-damage.
