God, exping in Corethas via fates is literally the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Trying to static with my friends and my wife is impossible. Someones ten seconds late they get no xp even for the boss NM ones just way too many damn people. Not to mention if you don't have an AOE move you're basically screwed

I just had a great experience fighting Ifrit.

DF party, but three of us were there for the first time. We all watched the cutscenes and waited for everyone to finish. Everyone agreed on a strategy before the fight.

We got wiped once by his OHK but the healer (the only guy who had fought it before) explained what to do, no one got upset, no insults were handed. After that Ifrit fell quickly.

In the end we all congratulated each other for a job well done.

Faith in the online community of this game slightly restored!

Get ready for the bad tanks after that if you aren't one. But everyone I played with on df has been cool except a couple.

I received my First-Press copy of the Realm Reborn OST today [thank you, CDJapan!] and immediately redeemed my code for the Wind-Up Dalamud. It's a pretty unique pet, although it doesn't do a whole lot other than float there. It would have been nice to have a miniature Bahamut emerge occasionally and just fly around causing havoc/breathing fire, etc. But I digress!

The End of an Era trailer, in full 1080P and 5.1 surround sound though...words cannot describe.

Wait, ARR ost or Before Meteor?

Now that I have the Airship Pass, I have a question about the bonus experience rate for secondary classes. I know that you get some bonus exp for leveling up a lower leveled class. However, is this bonus static (ie, the bonus stays the same until your secondary class reaches or exceeds the highest level class) or does it depend on the discrepancy between the highest class level and lower class (you get a larger bonus leveling up a level 1 THM if you have like a level 30 warrior as opposed to leveling up a level 28 THM compared to a level 30 warrior).

I'm just trying to decide whether it's better for me as a level 16 Archer to pick up the Puglist class, pick up Second Wind and Internal Release while these other two cities have a crapload of low-level quests, or if I should just focus on getting Archer to 30 and then mess with Puglist.

Question about how much I have left on the main story:

I am about to do Rock the Castrum. Seems like a dungeon/boss quest since I need to find the party with duty finder. Am I near the end?

So far I haven't encountered one.

I got a bad healer in Halatali though, but I think it was intentional. He constantly healed me and the other dps but didn't heal the tank causing him to die twice.

Also in the boss fight he didn't heal anyone except for the other dsp (who was just spamming spells from afar). The boss killed me and the tank right before we could kill it, so they just chipped away the rest of its HP and didn't resurrect me or the tank. By the time I got to the boss chamber they had already left with the loot and called me and the tank "garbage."

So, yeah. You see why I'm happy about how Ifrit turned out.

With my company chocobo, is it possible to eventually max out every skill tree (Attacker/Healer/Defensive)? Or do I need to min/max him?

Yup. I feel your pain. I'm not sure how many kills I've had (it's a lot), but I've never seen the claws drop.

To make it worse, a couple non-monks, in my FC, have the claws.

I guess I was lucky, I did my 4th Ifrit last night after the first 3 didn't drop any claw (2 summoner's weapon and 1 white mage's). Went in with duty finder, saw another monk in the party, so I thought my chance of getting one even if it drops would be lower. We beat it and opened the coffer and it was indeed ifrit claw. Immediately pressed need and saw my lot was "8" and i sighed, but the other monk didn't lot apparently so I got it lol. Maybe he already has it, I didn't really check.

Got my gear dyed and emblemed up.

You've got this raid, then a final real big raid and then that sweet ending is yours

I swear blacksmithing is such a pain in the ass to level due to all the mats required. D: Am currently sitting around lv 30 atm.

so, is the duty finder broken or something? Finally got up to Garuda in the story and I've been waiting quite a bit longer than usual (I'm a tank). About 14 minutes now o_O

Been on Ultros all day leveling my Archer. DPS > Tank in this game for sure.

In terms of what? fun? I haven't tried anything but War and GLD yet and I'm having a blast tanking. Which is strange considering in most other mmo's I dislike it. I will admit sometimes I get tired of working my ass off to keep agro and do my job right only to have bad people talk shit and blame me for things that are out of my control.

Just got the game for ps3, gf and I are really digging it. Gearing up to build a PC tomorrow so we can play it at the same time. Couple dumb questions:

1) Guessing it's impossible to change one's Square Enix ID? Just the name I mean, she prefers playing on the console but is stuck with the stupid name I came up with because we're not sure if you can...

2)... Play other accounts on ps3 after setting up the original one? Noticed that we can't reenter anything in the Square Enix Account field when the client loads up. We were really banking on being able to swap back and forth between PC and ps3 on our separate accounts.

Thanks much :)

What is going on with my account? I tried logging in after the maintenance yesterday. Said my account was not active, and after checking the Mog Station, it said my account was suspended. I emailed them and they said I could contact their live support, but I couldn't find the FF14 live support anywhere on the site.

A bit annoying to say the least. Anyone have experience with this?

There've been quite a few experiences like this in the thread. Square's privacy/security system is a shambles.

You probably just need to change your password. I ended up getting an account warning earlier today, but that fixed it. Hopefully that'll help you as well.

Also snag a security token of some sort.

1) Cannot change SEID usernames.
2) You'll need to create a separate user on the PS3, along with a separate PSN as well as its one FFXIV account per PSN.

Just did Garuda HM for the first time. Super fun fight. I like how the fight fundamentally changes in hard mode. It isn't just more dmg + health like how a lot of games do hard modes these days.

Fixed. Nobody is hacking SE to obtain that data. It is being obtained on users computers with Key Loggers. Blame yourself
or god
if you got hacked. You can attach extra protection to your account for free on a smart phone or pay for an authenticator.

AFAIK the exp bonus is just a flat +50% on kills and fates for as long as you have a higher level class than your current one. No, it does not scale even though the help screen tells you it does.

Is there really an AFK kick now? I let my character sit for way more than 30 min and was still there when I came back.

Castrum Meridium and The Praetorium were disappointing, IMO. Very few boss mechanics, and the ones that were there did meager damage, so the whole place felt like a big zerg fest. Half the time I could sit in Cleric Stance and spam Holy.

Seems like it. I was kicked earlier after AFKing. Took me right to the start screen.

Edit: The art design for most of The Praetorium was pretty incredible though. I was spending a lot of time looking around admiring the scenery.
