Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT2| Use a security token. Seriously.

I only have time to generalize, but the reality of the situation can be boiled down to Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yelling, "I want an Oompa Loompa NOW, Daddy!"

I care very little about what exploiters wanted from exploiting an experience versus the designers intent behind an experience. Yes, getting Tomestones is SUPPOSED to be slow. Even saying, "Well give us more ways to get them!" is just saying, "I want things FASTER!"

The game has been out give or take three weeks and people are mad they can't be end-game geared by the end of the first month. Call it a "slog" all you want, but just because something isn't in line with what Timmy Power-gamer wants doesn't mean its right. I'd say it puts it to the extreme opposite end of what is actually good for the longevity of an MMO.

I will say that I agree that they could provide better incentive to actually kill the trash mobs. I see this as a band-aid to stop people from burning through end-game content at ludicrous speeds. They'll monitor is and make changes accordingly. But being mad that you can't just be maxed out next week is silly.

Except that is not at all what this is about. No body is sitting here demanding that loot rain from the sky. The problem is strictly the method of attaining the tokens -- its just flat out not fun. Whether its done in 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month doesn't change that. If people aren't having fun then that is at the extreme opposite of whats good for any videogame.

Creating other viable ways of building seals does not automatically mean its faster, it means the grind feels far less monotonous. Whats weird is that the game has support for alternative methods, but for some god awful reason they decided to funnel it all through a single method.

As I said earlier, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I will say that Bioware also thought band aid fixes would by them enough time, and we know how that turned out...

This is ridiculous.

Try to log in last night at 12:00 am JST and the game won't retrieve the JP servers. Wake up a bit earlier so I can play a little before work and the game is performing emergency maintenance on all JP servers.

Add another week of 1017 errors and I've played maybe about 6 hours of the game since launch. Fix that shit, Square!

It's weird. Ever since I started playing I've only gotten exactly one error 9000 once, and I got back to the game in less than two minutes.

I don't know why it's seamless for some people while others are still having issues.

Talk about bad luck hitting both maints haha. Yeah the one that was supposed to be back from midnight came back up a little later around 0030.
This mornings one started from 0600 and ends 0800.
Hopefully the last freak maint before the weekend. Though the whole 90k errors were fun today. Everyone was rejoicing when they got in earlier yesterday evening.

Today will be another wonderful day of インゴット地獄 (Ingot Hell)

I'm sure it's a very low priority, but have they given a rough estimate as to when the "costume" equipment slots will be added?

Killed Titan again tonight for the 2 guys that didn't get their relic yesterday, and I got the ugly drop.

Nobody has time for that slow mess, The game starts @ 50! so you can do the fun stuff...

And it's a little early for the doom and gloom, isn't it?

Did Ifrit with a group but the tank kept directing Ifrit's attacks to the others and I (the healer) couldn't keep up and the tank and DPS bit the dust. We won but man, I hate letting my team members die...

So there's no demo/trial for this? Seems like Square is missing a pretty big opportunity by offering one.

The new user trial for WoW was the main thing that got me into the game.

There was an open beta in Aug, theyll prob have another one at some point if they get the servers straightened out :O

well it is pretty cheap

and bran d new

Which should give them even more of a reason to offer one (while interest is at its peak).

I'm not a huge MMO guy so I don't really want to invest in the game + 1st month if I'm not going to like it. But I love FF so I'm interested in trying it at least.

I don't see a free trial happening for at least a few months. There is a lot of interest in the game, but they halted digital sales, and retail copies are very difficult to find. Square's main concern should be keeping the servers stable, and then starting the sale of more copies. A trial could happen once the population starts to dip a little after people start to move on to the next new hotness.

Finally. Got the PC version shipped out to me. You can start going for a chocobo at level 20 right? My highest is 16, and you need seals for that, that drop during fates?

Yea, i think they aren't gonna do trials until they start up physical sales shipping and allow dling of the digital version at a bare minimum. A not-insignificant amount of people still want the game at full price.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT3| A Game of Tomes

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT3| GAF: [Viewing cutscene], Party: Skip to OT4!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT4| If you want to read OT3 do it in your inn room in your own time
Haha, I like all of these. Though for this last one, in my experience it'd be more like:
Fianl Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT3| You know you can just read OT's in your inn room, right?

Just sat in the SE Livechat support queue for 2 hours waiting for my turn, then got a "There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later." message and my session was cancelled once it was my turn. Are you fucking kidding me?

Sorry for the question that probably has an answer somewhere, but GAF is just so fast.

If I buy the PC version can I play it with my xbox pc controller as I would play the PS3 version with a controller? In other words, are the interfaces totally different between versions?

Native support for the 360 gamepad - it's plug and play.

I have 5 50s on Sargatanas. If I was one of these people that cared about that then I wouldn't have thrown it all away and started fresh on Ultos. But yeah, the real game does start at 50, its something Yoshida himself has constantly told us.

I'm not saying the game is doomed, I have really enjoyed my time with it and I look forward to what the team has to offer. What I am saying is that end game progression is in bad shape and the idea that its something to ignore or dismiss as people wanting "welfare epics" is not a position I agree with. These are completely legitimate concerns and I hope they are addressed before December.

Asking for a free trial is kind of silly at this point given the game isn't even accepting new players lol.

Man, what the hell are the lyrics for titan's theme? Other than "Titan" lol.

So can someone politely tell me how to make pics appear embedded like that instead of just links? It wasn't working for me for whatever reason.

People shouldn't blame the community for rushing to endgame. They built the game to be played like that. I wish they hadn't, but here we are.

I'll probably make that review thread today.

I dont think people are rushing, it just doesnt take a huge amount of time to get to 50, I followed the story and did the sidequests, ran some dungeons a few times (Longstop) for gear I liked the look of. I only Fate ground in the late 40's before going back to finish the story. In short I wasnt trying to power to 50, I still got there in a week (in fairness I was off that week so played a fair bit).

That's my favorite track in the game so far. Don't even mind numerous deaths.

I'm just taking it slow, mostly leveling gathering and crafting during the week and summoner on the weekends, and I'm having a lot of fun. I think rushing through the story now will just mean doing other things later-to each his own.

What...
I got 90000 and was able to get into a queue right away after, then got 90000 immediately after getting through the queue... now in another queue. :(

So, uh.

This Sunken Temple place.

Is it pretty tough? I think we're planning on hitting that and one more Brayflox run tonight.

And then, Titan tomorrow. I got my Infantry shirt!

Should I feel bad about the possibility of being level 36 before doing Titan? I REALLY want that Infantry set. >_>

Seems like SE got a bit lazy toward the end of the main story. I just completed the level 46 story mission and then it immediately jumps to level 49 so now I'm just kind of stranded with nothing to do but FATE grind so I can pick up the quest.

I really don't find FATE grinding all that enjoyable either. Gonna be a long couple of days.

Lots of annoying tile gimmicks in Sunken. Didn't enjoy it much at all. Hope no other dungeons are like it.

The last fight in the Temple is...interesting
