I agree with Ifrit being better than Garuda for DD purposes

However, thunder is definitely a useful DOT. Same potency for as your normal DOTs and better than a single use of Ruin. if it had a longer cast/recovery time, I'd say not to use it but considering it's the same as any other skill with the only downside being higher MP cost, there really isn't a reason to not substitute 1 ruin for it.

As long as MP isn't an issue it should be a gain, that's true. I'm not doing any content where that's been the case. But if it ever does become an issue that should be the first to go I guess.

Guess we have to agree to disagree, since I disagree so incredibly much that the harm is inconsequential. If that were true, then using a glitch that lets you get on top of a building you can't normally get on or something would be just as actionable as abusing an item duplication glitch or something, which is absolutely absurd.

The harm is inconsequential to the fact that a rule was broken, not to the punishment.

Regardless, we settle this when /duel becomes available. I await our resolution, madam.

The ONLY thing you're getting out of it is a Chimera clear. It is not even remotely analogous to stealing from someone. Nobody loses anything just because you got credit for a fight through a way that wasn't intended. It's also very different from a glitch that can ruin the game's economy, or any other sort of glitch with long-lasting effects. The benefits of this are super minor. I'm waiting to hear about them banning people who use the tree branch glitch in AK next.

I'm with you. Abusing glitches is just part of playing video games. Keep in mind that people flipped out here when Borderlands 2 had a glitch that allowed you infinite purple-quality weapons.

If Square wants people to stop it, then they need to fix it. Aside from that issue, threatening your customers is shocking customer service.

Pretty much. It's the first to go for me too but I have enough MP to last most fights currently.

I just did AK on my SMN and my group got the wall down to 25-30% before Gnats and I don't think anyone had gear above i60. Ifrit and Fester too strong. =o

It happens every single time in every single mmo basically. Those who abuse glitches in mmos get the stick usually. So dont be too surprised in this case by strongly worded messages to the community. As its the basic stance in any mmo.

Darklight tank armor is an affront against God Himself. I'm not going to blame myself or Him however, it's clearly Squenix's fault.

I need vanity slots yesterday.

yeah seriously

and that the crafted equivalent is the same armor model is reaaally lame

allagan pld (and allagan in general it seems) armor is pretty boring too; bronze and brown does not make for interesting armor

I'm secretly hoping they spike the difficulty of this game up a little bit -not just with dungeons, but overall! It just seems much too easy and there's no risk in attempting anything. We can run through any zones with high level mobs and if its too hard you can just sprint and run away! The fact you can also solo mobs that's 5-10 levels above you with relative ease is also disappointing. Are there any mobs above level 50 (not in dungeons)? I love the sense of danger when exploring and attempting something new, and I can only get a feint sense of that with some dungeons. The high risk = high reward stuff was what kept me and many people attached to FFXI.

I'm wondering if there's more people here that feels this way? I don't mean to do a list of comparisons with its predecessor, but while that game was very difficult and time consuming, there was always that great sense of achievement when you finally made it to 75 or got a weapon you've always wanted. This game seems to just hand everything to you by just playing.

Another thing I realized is that, with the exceptions of dungeons, there's no true multiplayer aspect to this game. I know i'm going to get a lot of flack for saying that.

everything you said is correct. but it's too late to retool the game now. levels 1-50 are designed to be free in this game, ideally to be bested without user interaction. that's why you will notice a good chunk of players acting antisocial and shifting the blame on others whenever they can. they're not used to fail at what they do. duty finder and server transfers give less incentive to build a reputation. you can be a dick and get away with it. it'll be interesting how this game shapes up in the future.

Not necessarily. Things that ruin the economy get the big treatment - bans, rollbacks, etc. Same for big raid encounters with the best loot getting exploited. Bugged boss fights in group dungeons that do nothing but save you some time in your day just get patched out.

The worst part is the threatening. Square should be apologizing, not threatening.

Is there any additional info on the 2.1 patch besides the sort button and local duty finder features?

You're definitely right, especially on your last point. Fates and dungeons are pretty much the only instance where the presence of other players affects how you play the game. The fact that their solution to resource competition for gathering classes is to just give everyone a steady supply of instanced nodes is depressing. There are also no random named mobs roaming around with good loot.

Just now managed to tank Aiatar from half-health to death.. with a level 38 MNK. I feel like I just had a crowning moment of awesome.

(Having a really good SCH backing me up with healing helped a ton.)

Well ran into my first...not so good group using duty finder via guildhest. Annoy the Void. How hard is it to read what the npc tells you, what the giant info notice on the right side tells you, and what one of the party members (me) tells you?

We finished of course, but how...you'd think it was obvious to put out the flames then attack.

Also finally ran across Coerthas...difference between pre and post calamity is crazy.

I would say they have a decent base for this game if nearly all future content focused on being more challenging and party oriented. Even gaining levels going forward shouldn't be easy solo.

Just finished Stone Vigil... it's a very easy dungeon as the tank. I barely had to do a damn thing during the boss encounters.

Maybe they could have a throwback to the limit break quest in FFXI by making you only be able to gain future levels by completing certain tough instances.

I played one day of open beta but none after and I went to my account page...says inactive. When I go to add a sub, it says I get 30 days free for being a veteran. Or rather, "Accumulated Subscription Days: 30 days". Does this mean they're not going to charge me when I put in my CC and complete the process? Until the next month at least.

Boo more maintenence.

Yay Lamia is getting earrings too!

FINAL FANTASY XIV @FF_XIV_EN
Time for a big list of winning Worlds! Grats to Faerie, Ridill, Leviathan, Ifrit, Mateus, Balmung, Excalibur, Behemoth and Lamia! Woo hoooo!

Is there another gaffers guild on ultros besides "Gather Against Fate?" I've been playing since the beta but never joined thinking I would leave the server but that's not happening anymore.
Would like to join an active guild.
