Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Another mechanic FFXIV needs from WoW, on top of the short tank CD thing, is the "debuff if unmitigated" pattern. This creates an actual element of skill for tanking that fits with the concept of tanking, rather than just being a simpler DPS. SAM's Third Eye is a really great example of what I mean.

Funny how different this is from the French translation. The first sentence is the same, however the next part says something along the lines of "He hoped it would help him put some order into the feelings he had been ignoring so far. The cheerful expression on her face must be the one she was keeping for him."

I bet that's a direct translation from the Japanese, while the English is Koji Fox being a tryhard memelord again.

This is a pretty shitty solution, especially the part where it disconnects people in dungeons too(granted I'm sure people would just afk in dungeons if they didn't, so I guess that's decent foresight). But probably will help I guess.

Also waiting for the free transfers from the congested new server Omega to Louisoix. 1000+ queues every evening on Omega, *starwarsmeme* you were the chosen one, you were supposed to help with congestion, not become congested.

Hey he does really good work when he's not shooting himself in the foot to sneak another stupid meme or stupid joke into supplementary text. :p

He can be my memelord any day.

Just really clicked what that simultaneous log out thing is. Can't wait for it to log everyone out during an Ixion or when a dps finally gets into their queue after 45min.

Because the one thing better than having to queue for a long-ish time to play is having to re-queue at the same time as *literally* everybody else on the server.

Nothing will go wrong when a full pop server is simultaneously booted and then try to get back in immediately.

Nothing.

Yeah, this is pretty tasteless.

If true, I feel that this wording is a lot more compelling than some fedora-tipping innuendo. It's clear that the FFXIV localization team is quite talented, but I think they've taken creative license a bit too far in some instances. This being one and
Midgardsormr in ARR
being the other.

MCHs should honestly stop asking for things to be fixed bcause they'll just make it worse.

All skills are buffed but now they use actual ammo which has to be equipped on the offhand slot and refilled manually.

2star alchemy specialist recipe.

This is the craziest thing I have heard all day. What do they think will happen when all (hell, even half) players of the most populated servers want to access the game after the forced 10 minute break?
This plan doesn't sound well thought out.

I assume they won't do it during prime time, but like a few hours before, to clear out people who stay online 24/7. But we'll see I guess.

How are people staying logged in afk? If it's the old leaving it on the retainer bell trick then surely it would make more sense to just stop that working...

Obviously those players will do the reasonable thing and take a break, or do something else, and come back to FFXIV in an hour or two.

They definitely won't wait 10 minutes before hammering the log in button.

I feel like S-E's one and only solution to unforeseen unexpected server problems is to hope enough players stop playing the game so that players can play the game.

Honestly I kind of want some kind of functionality for the offhand slot for jobs other than Paladins-but definitely not a consumable

It's too late, they heard you now. DRGs will get dragon claw attachments to do elemental damage, NINs will get unlimited smoke bombs for different party buffs, MCHs will get mandatory limited ammo for unique play style.

3000 ammo for $39.99. Best value!

Does anyone have any experience with squares eu customer support?

I'm getting the “This PlayStation™Network Card number has already been used. (WC-40372-6)” error message when I try to redeem my stormblood code on psn.

There's a whole section devoted to this on their website so it must be a fairly common problem.

I submitted a ticket yesterday, what's the likelihood this actually gets resolved?

Some weeks ago I made the unexpected discovery that exiting the game is actually some kind of player/client action, and because crafting pauses all non-crafting actions, you couldn't actually exit the game normally while crafting.

Which leads me to believe their anti-idling measure is also little more than a timer to trigger the same client action that shuts down the game, which is why all the tricks that lock away actions work on their anti-idle tool.

The clear solution is to forcibly disconnect players on the server side... like just about any reasonably large scale client-server software. That they can't seem to figure this out (or are unwilling to implement it) shows a staggering level of incompetence. It's like if Netflix was not able to terminate your video session, as long as you have a video paused, without rebooting their streaming servers completely.

That's correct, it's just a timer in the client sending /logout. It's always been this way.

I had the problem where the code only gave me early access, but in the form you filled out they treat it as the same problem. https://support.eu.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?id=5383&la=2&kid=76454&ret=main

I submitted my form on saturday, got a first reply sunday evening and the new code tuesday evening.

I'm actually going to blame the PS3 here, because I assume closing an application is more difficult on a console environment than on a PC. There is no other reason why logging out needs to be tied to the game logic.

The ghost of PS3 limitations continues to haunt us.

Here's what I think - the inactivity timer isn't even server side, it is client side. They are relying on the client to track activity and log itself out, which is why they are unable to do a server-side force logout per user, since the servers have NO IDEA how long a given user has been idle. And they don't want to implement a server side check because... err....maybe "it will cause more stress to the servers"... yeah.....

The instancing tech needs to scale down. It's a bit silly entering a zone right now and seeing the three instances listed with (16), (12), and (10) next to them. Those people should all be in the same instance, no need to roll up three unless demand gets high.

On the other hand servers like Odin still have an average of 50 people per instance with spikes of up to 80.

So abolishing it outright on all servers is probably not a good idea.

Also If they do the servers wide logout I also hope it is done with each datacenter timezone in mind so that the logout doesnt happen somewhere during primetime.

"Spikes of up to 80" lmao. What sort of successful MMO can't support 250 people in a zone?!

When do you guys think housing will become available?

I wonder if they'll kick people out of Shirogane if they log off there hmmm

I heard is some kind of mouse clicking software? At least my FC uses it.

Nah for most people it's literally just the retainer trick. See a few people at my FC house stood with their retainer for hours and hours.

However, their idea to tackle this is just brain dead. Just stop the afk counter ignoring people in message windows.

Their solution is 2+2=5 shit.

Well, that is a far cry from insinuating he made a blow-up sex doll of his dead friend for his own perverted pleasures. Mind you, he does seem like the type...

The English localization has always been going some places.
When I complained about dick jokes in that New Year's quest nobody was on board!
