Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

That reminds me I wonder what the logo means in terms of the overall story.

Sleeping goddess, Etro, I guess? Sleep is one of the common themes with Noctis always seen sleeping and being tired (in the '11 trailer in the car being woken up by Driver-san, in the TGS trailer in the car and in the demo
at the beginning where he wakes up last which I think is a subtle hint, too
).

Man I wish the code for the demo was sent to my email, it is going to take some days for my copy of type 0 to arrive to my country T~T

Ah ok, didn't know that. So 3.6 max then, toss in cutscenes at 1080p (Given that it's SE I fully expect them to be, no GOW collection crap here lol), revamped audio for the new systems, the new graphic stuffs and all. Think they did a respectful job then, could've been bigger. Especially going from PSP's res to full 1080p.

Actually, the remasters of the PSP GoW games had the cutscenes completely remade in 1080p.

Don't worry America will get some lame CG cover as always.

Dat EU though :)

They've always said the game will have a simple plot, but I still anticipate a deus ex machina plot device further in.

I hope not :/ Having to kill Etro (though she killed herself in the FFXIII lore at least and thus humans were formed by her blood), Pulse or Bhunivelze again in the end would be so predictable and anticlimactic. This is one of the tropes of FF that maybe should be axed for once.

Interesting, since a lot of people complains the recent trailers doesn't have the same "dark" feel of the early Versus ones.

The early trailers were a gloomy guy with gloomy music teleporting all over the place and destroying fools. The game play we have seen is the gloomy guy with his friends and upbeat music teleporting all over the place, destroying fools. Of course it will be different if you change the music and throw friends into the mix.

We haven't seen Noctis on his throne since the versus days

I have yet to see any gameplay in a modern city settings since Versus 13 was renamed to FF15.

It's been all Duscae and Accordo since E3 2013.

Versus 13 looked so much more interesting than much of what's been shown so far of FF15.

I am so excited to play this, so much so more than Type-0, but I'm sure that'll be a great game. Hopefully the demo goes live at midnight when I get home with the boxed copy, but thats just a dream probably lol

...Do you remember what open world games looked like back on the PS2?

That's better than what we have right now?

This is better than DMC 4?
Sustainablility is an entirely different discussion.

I said 'Late' PS2/Early PS3.

Yes, I'd prefer if games still had graphics like that than what we have now.

And back on topic.

Blue and orange could actually happen for this game =X

Hopefully whoever makes the cover is a fan of early games in the series...

It'll probably be blue and orange >.>

That's not entirely true. During TGS 2014 they did a few demos of tech and battle gameplay right in front of the Tokyo government building. A quick search turned up this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMuQeqTsUgk

What you said was

miles better than anything we have right now.

Which you then later explained that you'd prefer that they focus everything on gameplay than on graphics, which gives your argument a completely different spin. I was actually about to edit to account for that since I continued reading on.

But yes, we'll drop it.

Nah, I'm talking about gameplay stuff like the old trailers had with the behemoth fights in the streets (destructible cars?), and mecha tanks in the alley ways. Also that clip with Noctis and the group running across a city bridge while bombardments are happening.

Versus 13 was hype.

I want to know if that's still in the game; burned out on Duscae especially.

You don't really think they scrapped Noctis' hometown, do you? Obviously they will show those parts from the Versus trailer someday again and you can bet it will look amazing. Besides there was gameplay in that same city you mentioned at daytime:

EDIT: Lol, beaten twice. Haven't refreshed before posting.

Well considering that city location is the same one in the TGS 2014 video I linked you, I'd say yes, that location is still in the game.

Well they pretty muh had to focus the marketing on demo content and gameplay , i'm sure come E3 they will go back to the more epic sections.

It's because of the reactions to the initial re-reveal, I think. Everyone was busy shitting their pants over how linear and scripted the game looked, so this emphasis on the exact opposite (not a city, but a big forest/plains area, and completely open) in Duscae is the result.

I'm extremely excited to see what 15 will bring to the table.

I'll be honest that with so many years and changes my hype is beyond deflated. The demo footage looks great, but I still feel like the original concept for the combat we had back when it was Versus 13 is long gone. The original gameplay looked like Kingdom Hearts on acid, and I was thrilled to play that game.

I hope this is still that game gameplay wise once you hit higher levels... Tuesday is a BIG day for SE I feel.

SE really did show too much of the demo.

They had no choice they had to go all out and they over delivered, just imagine if the demo had released in summer it would've probably been a more better/polished experience..However, the word delay doesn't suit well with the fanbase at this point.

I think it's only too much for our small hardcore circle, though. The general public only saw a lot of headlines which was good to create more awareness of the game on mainstream sites in the last few days before ED's release. Most of those people only read the big articles shared on FB/Twitter and most certainly didn't watch all those hour-long ATRs since TGS, or Wan & Sun's presentation, etc. Of course we did and that's why we feel oversaturated.
I already told my little anecdote: a lot of my friends are passionate gamers and buy a lot of the biggest games, but they're not hardcore forum-goers and don't watch every single event/livestream (only E3s where we kick back with a few beers and watch it together). They still haven't seen a lot of the demo but are hyped by the positive press previews of last week and look forward to it.

Jesus, that concept art is exactly more of what I want to see from FF15.

To hell with Duscae :/

Wait, people were concerned this game would be linear?

FF13 Saga has haunted this franchise for too long.

Who here will be making videos/streams of the demo btw?

You know what looks like Kingdom Hearts on acid?... Kingdom Hearts

But yeah, I can understand peoples complaints with the battle system changing. That being said, I won't really say it changed for worse before I get to play it. Battles still look just as hectic as the Versus videos.
