Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director says Xbox is ‘great’, wants to see the trilogy on more platforms

It's already on Xbox.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
if Square was unhappy with FF16 PC number, i dont wanna even look when they see FF numbers on MS consoles.

If they're not dumb, and don't do late releases at full price or in a buggy state, the game(s) will see good success.

See Death Stranding. It's been in the top 5 paid games on Xbox since it launched, for the first couple of weeks it was second only to Call of Duty. They have likely made much over the ROI and then some.

That’s the issue though, isn’t it. I can see SE releasing FFVII Rebirth on say PC first in maybe February 2025 for full $70. And then it will be “sales have underperformed”.

And then maybe they will release FFVIIR1 on Xbox for $50-60. And sales once again will underperform.

We'll see. Octopath 1 and 2 were bundled together for $60 on Xbox. Trials of Mana just came out and it's $20 for Black Friday.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
So you don't have a direct quote that says that he's talking specifically about FF7R on Xbox.

I love how you built all this narratives to be dissapointed later. With the speed of Xbox HW sales collapsing there will be no traditional Xbox console by the time they'll finish with the trilogy.

Literally didn’t say anything except that the quotes are from SE themselves. Calm down

Let's see if that's enough for it to make an appearance in any weekly/monthly sales charts (and by that I mean the charts that are not platform specific).

If not then it's indicative of how much of a dire state things are in from a sales perspective on the platform.

Thr narrative that the playstation exclusive is the main reason for them to shift when they had more games releasing exclusivly on switch is funny. They had three games in four years.

Anyway we already had a leak that remake is being tested on switch 2 so nothing new here as of right now.

And of course the actual quotes don’t match with the headline. Why am I not surprised.

Btw where can I buy 7 remake and 16 on Xbox? Those should be available by now right, xbros?

If it ends up selling a few hundred thousand copies on Xbox, I imagine its more than earnt its cost of development. Not sure what the expectation is 5 years after launch.

Well if it ends up being a few hundred thousand in such a short amount of time then it will chart.

Games like Final Fantasy just don’t appeal to the majority of XBOX gamers. If the sales of FF16 were dreadful on PC, I’m scared to see the sales of late ports of these games on XBOX. SquareEnix expecting a miracle by porting the games to more consoles I suppose? Maybe they can squeeze another 50,000 to 100,000 units on XBOX and that’s being extremely generous.

Xbox owners are not the right audience for these games.

That's why square made these deals with Sony in the first place. The have the data and know how little their games sell on xbox. They can't even be bothered to port to xbox even though the deal with Sony has surely expired. Its just empty words. Their actions show that they dont give a shit about supporting xbox.

Should have done that in the beginning especially for PC on launch day when the momentum was at it's highest. The extra sales and huge launch momentum boost from sales would have been way more than whatever Sony was paying them for a PS5 exclusive.

I mean xbox software sales are much lower than playstation and pc for most games. So being in top 5 doesn't say much.

As most Xbox gamers don’t give a shit about FF games. I have had all PlayStation consoles from PSX till PS4PRO - jRPG it is just my kind of genre. On Xbox I have bought- bloody fomo - (believe still have blue dragon and Lost Odyssey, still, unplayed).

If it simultaneously released on Xbox would it have even sold one million on that platform? Your literally talking about a platform that's been conditioned not to buy games and the market for jrpgs not exactly being there.

They don goofed by not releasing on pc day and date.
