Also, do you guys like The Tomorrow Children's lighting? If so then you should naturally like UC4'S lighting as it's using very similar tech.

No,not really, maybe i'm not being clear.
Let's take this nice GIF as example:
bafwya.gif

Now we pretty much know:
1. Drake needs to enter this mansion.
2. Is going to break open the gate to get in.
3. We will see a chase scene, leading up to Drake breaking into the mention as soon as we see the vehicle

I mean ,while it's true most trailers work the same way, it's really not necessary, and it does spoil a good bit of.

But we know that they 'infiltrate' the mansion from an earlier trailer/demo. They don't bust through the front gates.

What you've inferred here is totally off-point.

But the lighting in QB only felt atmospheric because there was usually fog all over the show or some sort of haze.

Edit: Forgot to say it's a trick used to give scenes more "Volume". While I agree it looks fucking fantastic when your playing through, I feel Uncharted's lighting has a more natural feel to it.
Agreed. QB is certainly flashy, but Uncharted looks much more natural.

Yep, I feel like Remedy nailed QB'S lighting, it fits with the games tone. Moody, paranoid lighting that fits with the tension in the story.

Uncharted's however just feels realistic. It fits with the style of the game the same as QB. I also prefer Uncharted's lighting system as it looks better during the day and night. I felt QB fell flat when it was day time, their lighting system was more suited to nighttime scenes with heavy use of GI coming from light sources.

The animation and textures looks very good but the rest is much less impressive then the reveal which is a shame but was expected because the reveal looked incredible.
Also the lighting engine looks dull compared to quantum break, I haven't followed what technique they use but it looks less advanced then qb. But I bet it will be a very fun game with lots of setpieces. And that's what counts.

after 15 years, I can safely say (or unequivocally) that the quality of the in-game graphics has surpassed the level of this CGI film

At that time (2001) it was only part of my wildest dreams to see a game engine that has the visual quality of the Spirits Within.... But now with Uncharted 4, we have surpassed every expectation!
Massive and colossal kudos to Naughty Dog!

Cut scenes visuals? Sure.

In-game? Not so sure, probably not.

Though I do think it's the most impressive game today.

i'm deadass it's not to start any drama. i enthusiastically believe that uncharted 4 has a chance of doing halo numbers. it will be their halo 3.
Oh yeah u mentioned that before. Yeah it could be big, but just be the first to make the million sales thread I guess. I think Uncharted opening big is pretty much a given at this point. I expect it to be in line with previous games, a little bit higher, but not sure it will do old Halo numbers, MP has to be like the new "it" for that to happen.

Since Druckley took over it's been exactly 2 years. Holiday 2018 seems like a good bet.
we'll see. maybe they'll target to fuckin hit holiday 2018 but dem delays will hit em back.

uncharted was big when Uc3 launched, but the IP/franchise/name is much bigger now that the Ps4 is also a juggernaut, in the same relative manner that halo 3 had that advantageous push with the 360 being so popular. if you know what i mean.

I can't believe you guys are comparing CG to in-game cutscenes..

In game cut scenes do look better than SOME cgis, no one said it looks better than the latest high end stuff but it's not like any CGI, no matter how dated it is, looks automatically better than U4's cutscenes just because they are CGI.

I know with game development its hard to judge but I would definitely appreciate a shorter period between reveal and release ND's next title (like U2 and U3). The wait for U4 has felt so long.

It's pointless if the benchmark isn't current standards, rather than past standards.
