Fire Emblem Awakening |OT2| PAL reinforcements

Finally was able to give this game another shot and I'm enjoying it. The only thing I don't like is that so far I've been playing turtle and not moving up a lot. I felt like I previous games I was able to get pretty aggressive. I'm only on chapter 4. Does this change?

Not really. Awakening's later maps, when you'd have stronger characters, also are very open. So, the game in general ends up very defensive. Although in some cases the best choice is to hurry in order to avoid reinforcements, since they appear and act in the same turn.

Dancers are always valuable if you know how to utilize them.

I always struggle with same turn reinforcements. Was playing the tree chapter yesterday and she was brutally murdered by the Pegasus Knight reinforcements.

God I hate that mechanic haha.

You can only play agresive if you know the map and plan for each reinforcment ahead of time. Basically its something you can only do in your second or third time playing the game. Also, when you play agresive, you notice you can actually push so much that the same turn reinforcements have to take another turn to get anywhere close to you, making it much more manageable. Awakening is a weird game.

Yeah, I'm noticing that. I'm on chapter 12 and I'm wondering if the game picks up at all plot wise? So far I haven't really given a shit about anything that's happened and the big thing at the begining of the game with those zombies hasn't gone any where. Does it pick up?

How do you utilize them?

So I know this is an epic bump but I'm about to finish this game and it has been my first Fire Emblem and I'm so glad I joined this bandwagon. Can't wait to play Fates! (Although I'm considering playing FE GBA on the Wii U VC first...)

Sorry I took 6 months to reply lol, dancers aren't as valuable in Awakening because galeforce is everywhere, but giving one of your more powerful units an extra turn every time is invaluable for tons of reasons. You just have to protect her, you can always rescue her after she dances.

FE GBA is great but be aware that mechanics are very different. There's no map (which means no unlimited grinding), supports are very very different, no pair-ups, etc... It's also a lot more challenging and maps have more diverse and interesting objectives/mechanics. Definitely play the game but expect something different from Awakening.

Hi guys,

Since playing Fire Emblem Heroes, I've spent a lot of time on Fire Emblem games lately. I started with Fire Emblem Fates by playing both Birthright and Conquest on the easiest difficulty (haven't finished Conquest yet though), and while I've had a pretty good time so far, I wanted to play a something a bit more challenging without having to replay the game again.

So I bought Fire Emblem Awakening, and I'm playing on hard/casual difficulty. I didn't have much struggle early in the game but I'm now on chapter 18, and I just have no idea how to beat this chapter. I've had a really hard time on previous chapters, but still somehow managed to beat them. But now, I just don't see how it would be even possible.

Robin/Chrom/Frederick are overpowered but the rest of my units get one shotted by pretty much anything at this point. The only way I can level them is by doing some of the paralogue missions but still, they are still getting one shotted in the ones I have access to.

So now I'm wondering if I just screwed up by counting on my strongest units to defeat everything to this point. I'm new to the Fire Emblem series (and to the TRPG games as well).

Any help would be really appreciated, thank you!

You can grind on the enemies that appear on the map. Remember to use pair-up, especially with Frederick, for your weaker units. He adds nice defense. You can also buy Strength and Defense Tonics on shops to temporaly make your weaker units stronger.
