it's crazi when they can create characters that look like that, they continue with the sequels and mario {add something here} titles. Full fledged menu rpg with FE art direction would be awsome imo. Saying that, i can't wait for this release.

What's art style got to do with how Nintendo determines what games to make?

Damn,Nintendo should pimp out this kinda art in more of their games :P

Intelligent Systems has always done this... You can see it influencing the art in OoT and the new Zelda a bit. It's basically generic anime, but the characters still look good.

Story elements are a lot different than what you'd expect from a Nintendo game too.
Like in the only one to reach American shores so far, Eliwood unknowingly kills a little girl he was trying to protect.

yeah, for sure this is coming to NA. even if this were releasing only in japan, nothing would be stopping me from getting it ^.^

well mario games are good n all, but some people want something different, This character art proves they could do new IP's with a more "mature" targeted art direction. Instead, you look at their upcoming games, whats being released? mario sports, kirby?

Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid, and FE fit into their more "mature" audience. Star Fox to a lesser extent, probably.

Nintendo has a series they kept on the Super Famicom called Detective Club (I've seen jonnyram or jarrod or john tv talk about it a couple times), and it's not your average Nintendo game at all.

Yeh i left out metroid and star fox cause they are not being developed in house. Zelda and FE are the first 1st party game i've been excited about since WW.
Have they released any more movies or anythign of FE? It was surpisingly addictive on the gba.

Retro = Nintendo. They are a first party. Just like how Rare = Microsoft.

And no, there aren't any movies of FE. Strange that it's the case nearing a year after its unveiling.

i dont think many people saw those commercials, but there was a whole bunch of them put up a while back. thats where we saw first glimpse of the "new" looking star fox, with the forest level, and this fire emblem commercial, and about a million other games at the same time.

yeh i think i saw them, were like flash documents on the nintendo japan site i think. I couldn't get past some little robot game. i was just hoping they had like a 30 second plus preview out.

i'm really happy nintendo is making this game in the same genre as the GBA ones, its gonna totally own. i'm really unhappy about that cube wars gimmick. that game has a very very good chance of totally bombing, i dunno why nintendo couldnt let them do it just like the GBA ones, but with cube polish and gfx.

Yeh im pretty sure it's still gunna be a turn based tactic rpg. the pictures and movies i've seen pretty much look like a nicer looking version on the gba FE, which is exactly what i wanted :)

yeah from the snippet, that cut-scene was stunning. and seeing how FE's are packed with story elements between the battles, i hope there are tons of those *.*
just no english voices please, thank you.

btw, thumbs up for king zell's avatar, hisoka is totally and uniquely bad ass, definitely one of my fav characters in all mangas out there.

yeh the cut scene looked good as. the only thing is, the story line of FE is usually told through dialect, so maybe that is just a into cutscene or something, the battle animation still looks good too, it could still improve aswell which is good.

I'm thinking next year. It took the translation team less than a year to bring over FE VII.

I doubt that. FE VII is a 2D game and I'm quite sure that this new GC one will have a lot more text than it's GBA counterpart. Voices take a while to do, too.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. It has voice acting?

The graphics are really bad, I hope it delivers. Is Fire Emblem like Final Fantasy in the sense that it uses new characters every time?

...more text than the gba one? Are you including th 20 billion hidden partner conversations when you say that...?

I wish the graphics were a little more high res on the map screen, but I couldn't fucking care less. Rest of the game looks alright, nothing special though. This game is like digital crack. Too bad most people will skip it because of the average graphics. Oh well, their loss.

Not every time. If I remember correctly, FE I-III are loosely connected, FE IV-V are connected, FE VI-VII are connected, and I think the GC version is connected to those two, or it's the latest GBA game.

I'm so desperate for RPGs on my GCN, I'll pick it up almost 100%. I'm excited to finally get to play it in English. Every RPG is niche, so it'll suffer sails there, it's also relatively new to people (ask a random human what Fire Emblem is and they MAY be able to tell you who Roy and Marth are because of Melee), on top of it all, with graphics like it has, it's not going to intrigue many people. It doesn't look good for sales of the title state-side, but the franchises needs recognition, it this exposure should be beneficial anyway. I really hope it's a good game.

What's the basic premise of the serious? And how hard it is to play a Japanese RPG (that isn't translated)?

It is pretty story intensive so I wouldn't import, just wait. I can't imagine it being bad. Fire Emblem for the SP is the best game I have played this generation. If it is half as good as that game it will still be one of the best rpgs of this gen.

yeah Fire Emblem is indeed addictive. i find it more fast-paced than the other turn-based strategy games out there. you see, i really disliked turn-based gameplay, only recently i began to like it. golden sun made me a believer, as well as the advance wars games and paper mario 2. and now i'm totally owned by GBA FE's.

regarding this cube version, i think the gfx should shape up nicely by the time it releases. i wouldnt mind if the maps were average looking, but i want the battle scenes to be very well done, especially the animations. i also would like to see a different battle music for every main character.

i dunno if this happens to anyone else, but for some reason, whenever i play a turn based game, i tend to press a button right before i strike an enemy. it seems the mario rpg gameplay element feels kinda natural for these turn-based games.
