Fire Emblem: info & new? scans

The story is set on a continent Terius, which is home to two different races. The humanoid Beok live side-by-side with the beastly Raguz throughout the eight kingdoms. The current truce between the group seems to be fragile, as they have a strong dislike for each other.

The terrain will play a large factor in the gameplay. Players who place units on higher terrain than the enemies will gain damage bonuses. Likewise, archers placed on high terrain will gain a wider range. Whether placing units on lower terrain has any comparable relevance is unknown.

"Pushing" units, either ally or enemy, will be one of the many available commands. Exact details are unknown, other than it will rush slower moving units to the front lines faster. Character skills will be similar to previous versions, but a new enigmatic parameter, called "capacity," will be introduced in this Fire Emblem title.

...characters from Trail of Blue Flames include:

Ike- The hero of this story. Ike is training to become a full-fledged member of the Grail Mercenary Troop. Although not very talkative, he can be quite impulsive at times.

Grail- Leader of the Grail Mercenaries and Ike's father. Grail is gruff and fair, yet still highly respected among his troops.

Mist- Ike's younger sister, and a helper for her father's troop. She's the homemaker of the family, and has a bright, cheery personality. She wears a medallion that serves as a memento of her mother.

Tiamat- Grail's second-in-command who wields a large halberd. A former member of the Kremia Royal Knights, she unexplainably joins Grail's forces. Her past with the knights or why she joined Grail is shrouded in mystery.

Senerio- A young strategist apprentice. Down to earth, collective, and in touch with reality, he has full trust in Ike.

Elincia- Princess of the Kremia kingdom. She fled her country's capital when it was invaded by enemy forces of the kingdom of Dein. While being pursued by soldiers, she wound up separated from her escort.

Yeah they are new. I found them today on gamefront.de
I simply love this series, I can't get enough info of these games.
I still hope we will see the translated version before Q4 2005...

Nintendo should seriously expand Intelligent Systems and just have them work on rpgs for their systems. It would go a long way towards filling a hole in their lineup.

How long has this game been in development? I think they should push it back another 4 or 5 months to add more polish.

Sweet. I was hoping for this.

Interesting.

Damnit! I wish this would come out already so that Pelham, Dragona, etc can import it and tell us how much it rocks!

Looks like they've expanded battle tactics quite a bit. Perhaps this should make the game more like the SNES versions of yore rather than the somewhat simplified GBA games!

Sounds like they are using this to replacing the rescue command from FE5/6/7/8 that was used primarily to transport slower units around. Not a really good replacement for rescue though, since rescue's primary purpose was picking up units that were close to death.

But hey, at least you can do it to enemies. That might count for something.

Best Fire Emblem is still 4 and 5. So much better than any of the GBA games.

Best character is still Sigurd. He would murder Marth n Roy with style

And they might never make another FE game that equals the gameplay and story quality of either.

But that's okay, Fire Emblem seems to be moving into a more mainstream direction, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

wait a sec, have they removed the rescue command in place of push? or you're just guessing?

you're just guessing?

guessing based on the fact that they haven't made any mention of rescue command just like it's widely assumed that you can't dismount since there has been no mention of it.

well i dont think they will remove rescuing, it's an integral part of the gameplay. they prob dont need to mention it since it's like an established gameplay element for the fe series now

that's all i needed to hear. thanks.

as long as the shift to 3D is opening up new ways of play and strategy I'm happy. They could do a hell of alot more though, which I expect we'll find out about in time.

If you look at the first screenshot on the scans where it has three units together and a menu, you don't see the rescue command on it. Which doesn't really mean anything, but it could mean that it's not implemented. :P

I'm guessing around January 2006.

I hope you are way off on that guess. :(

Did Nintendo confirm that this is coming to the US? They should really repackage all the old Fire Emblems we missed out on too. Then again, people are stupid and no one would buy those. :(

I'm being conservative. The Japanese release date is April 20. There is an aweful lot of text to be translated. Seven months sounds about right.

We know that NoA's ace translating team is working on FE2 GBA now. Does anyone know if they handle multiple projects at once?

yep shouldnt be a long wait for the us release. i just hope they dont dumb down the us version. i heard the japanese release of blazing sword blows the us counterpart away, in what way, i'm not too sure.

btw Pellham, maybe the rescue option didnt appear in that screen cause that unit couldnt rescue the adjacent one? weaker maybe?

They're doing Zelda right now, if memory serves me.
