Classic Japanese wrestling franchise climbs the ropes once again on the PlayStation 2 this summer.

In 2003, Japanese developer Spike said it would close the curtains on its Fire ProWrestling series after the release of Fire ProWrestling Z for the PlayStation 2. The series, which debuted on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, isn't dead yet, however. According to Famitsu, a new version of Fire ProWrestling is coming to Japanese PlayStation 2s this August, when Spike releases Fi-Pro Returns. No further details have been revealed, but GameSpot will bring you more information on the game as it becomes available.

Man, as much as I like(d) Fire Pro, I really wish Spike would concentrate their efforts on a new King of Colosseum...that or a Fire Pro for PSP at the very least. I mean, honestly, what more can you add that wasn't in Fire Pro Z?

I share the PSP sentiments, but it's Fire Pro, so I guess I'll take what I can get, unless of course it's just Fire Pro Z with some roster changes. I want new, hi res sprites, better entrance music and more moves. And for God's sake, put it on a DVD disc.

Definitely! I want a true sequel though, not a simple update to the Dreamcast or PS2 version. But, Fire Pro lives again! Thank God!!

A part of me wants a next gen product for the PS3, Xbox 360, or Revolution! That would rock.

How about an English translation menu so we can read wtf it says. Only thing that makes me mad about this game is they don't put in an english mode, even though they have English text edit options in the game for wrestlers and moves. Just put it in beforehand, jeez.

Or better yet just release it over here. If they can do it for the GBA they can do it for the PS2.
