looks more and more like chrome :/

Just be thankful they haven't hidden the URL, like Chrome is introducing in it's dev builds.

Soon™ in a browser near you.

Quite a polarizing change. Some for it some against it, mainly focused around phishing but also convenience (the full URL is accessible by clicking the domain).

Even people at Google, Chrome developers specifically, are hoping that doesn't get approved after the tests. Anyway, more reason to stay with Firefox for now.

Does anyone know where to download the Metro Touch version of the Firefox Beta? I've been looking forever but I can't fucking find it.

I didn't even know it existed until they said that they were discontinuing it. Great job there, Mozilla... :|

Firefox 29 finally made Firefox usable again. It got a much needed facelift, and it's developer tools no longer freeze my work computer. As someone who develops cross-browser weep apps, Firefox 29 is a god send. If only the IE dev tools were brought up to speed, I'd be able to target the three major desktop browsers with no issues.

I'm very concerned about userscripts.org (home of hundreds of thousands of Greasemonkey/userscripts). They've been down for the past 5 days and no official word on why.

Archive Team made a backup of the site in November but it wasn't complete. To lose such a valuable site so suddenly is alarming.

Edit: I notice the site is registered to Jesse Andrews(@anotherjesse on Twitter). I don't suppose someone could tweet him about the issue?

Userscripts has been kind of shit for years anyway.

Try greasyfork.org it doesn't have nearly as many scripts but they actually moderate their scripts.

Userscripts.org needs a full backup. It's fine to have opinions on the signal to noise ratio but it's an important resource nonetheless.

Btw does Greasyfork actually use CSS? Looks like there is virtually no styling on the site at all.

So, from what I understood, Cyberfox will integrate Classic Theme Restorer into the browser to speed up development and avoid issues like addons/themes compatibility. That way, they can change the UI using CTR's options, but keep Australis if users want that.

You can read more about it here and also the rest of that thread..

That sounds good to me since I just ditched Cyberfox for Nightly x64 because I wasn't willing to part with Australis.

Firefox still almost takes up 1GB and I don't think I really have plug-ins. Just a few tabs.
Every few days I have to close everything down to make it snappy again. Will this ever be fixed?

So apparently Mozilla finally tapped into Windows 8's emojicon layer, for the newest version of Nightly.

I was working on my Quick Quote, Reply, and Edit script, and noticed that all the Emoji, which used to be basic, were now in full color. 🐉

Cyberfox 29.0.1 released, including Australis UI (or optional CTR customization -- if you want a merge of both, you need to keep the option "Uncheck to keep default Australis (optional)" checked, so it installs CTR. Then, enable Australis features there.)

I don't really want to have two separate profiles in case I want to go back, but I'll probably go back to Cyberfox.

However, I can't deal with waiting three months for the new Emoji support. 😕

So I decided to update Firefox from 29. It felt... different. Maybe it's just me but Firefox looks different in 29.1.

Is it because the tabs are above the address bar?

wtf did firefox do to their sync service?
I reformated my pc and trying to sync this shit and it doesn't seem to work.
I logged into my laptop and set it to upload the settings on that to the sync cloud and my desktop still doesn't sync. WTF?
Please reply.

There was a new version of Sync included with Firefox 29 that does not communicate with the old one. You have to either get all your devices on the old version or the new version. Your account is probably still using the old version.

If you have your data locally on your laptop, upgrade it to the new version of Sync. Then you'll be able to sync it to your new profile on the desktop.

Alternatively, I think you can install Firefox 28 on your desktop, connect to the old Sync, update Firefox after, and keep using the old version on both your laptop and desktop. But eventually the old version will be taken offline.

I wanted a 64-bit version of Firefox so I started using PCX Firefox. It doesn't have an installer so you just have to put it in a directory and start using it. It seems excellent to me so far.

Anyone else using it?

I've been using Cyberfox for the same reason for over a year now. It's ok.

I'm still on 28. I've been deferring updates, as I haven't had a chance to look into whether I want to stay with FF (and use that add-on to restore pre-29 layout/functionality) or switch to something like Cyberfox (with which I am mostly unfamiliar).

I've also seen people mention they're using x64 Nightly builds but looking through the Mozilla FTP server I can't find any x64 Windows builds?

I've use Nightly on and off, but it's not really that great because . . . it's a test version.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/?C=M;O=A

Look for win64-x86_64.

However, the new features I've seen are full emoji support for Windows 8 and a new settings panel.

I just noticed PCX today, but I don't want to bother with it since I use Cyberfox.

Since updating to 30 pages are randomly hanging, is anyone else having this problem?

These issues you guys are having are weird. I stay on the beta channel so I'm on 31 now, but I never had that issue. I'm guessing it has to do with some extension you are using.

Any alternatives to FindBar Tweak? It doesn't seem to be playing nice with Firefox (making it hang when using Ctrl+F and slowing down the browser when searching). Shame, cause it has so many good options and it's so much better than the standard/default search :\

I'm a fan of the new right click menu incoming.

fEXx57C.png

As a mouse gesture user, it does nothing for me.
Right click + gesture is the only right way. :D

I feel awful when I'm using someone else's computer and there's no gestures. It feels so primitive to use... keys or menu buttons to reload, move back or move forward >_>

Finally made the jump to v30 yesterday. Used classic theme restorer to pretty much revert back to pre-29 look and layout. Annoyed that many custom settings for my add-ons were lost in the upgrade, along with the layout of all my shortcut icons on the add-on bar.

Anyway, since the upgrade I'm having problems specifically with GAF. None of the drop down menus/features work. For example, if I press 'search', I go straight to the advanced search page instead of getting the drop-down menu; clicking user names goes straight to their profiles; things like that. Also, none of the formatting or other buttons for replying to threads work (e.g. if I press the "bold" icon or press Ctrl-B while the text parser is in the box, the browser loads bookmarks instead of adding tags).

Restarted FF w/ add-ons disabled, but the problem persists.

I think NeoGAF uses vBulletin, and I'm not sure how much this helps but on other forums using vBulletin I don't have these issues. Can't seem to figure out what the root of the problem is. :/

Did you install NoScript and lose its whitelistings that you've made?

If so, just allow NeoGAF.

Thanks for your response. I had previously installed NoScript but disabled it quite a long time ago (probably over one year). I just enabled it and restarted Firefox. NeoGAF wasn't on the whitelist so I added it, but there's no change in the problem I'm having.

Ugh I had a feeling upgrading was a bad idea. I think I might just revert to v28, just as long as I won't lose my settings and whatnot (have my profile folder contents backed up just in case). I should have just turned off the update notifications but figured I'd have to get with the program eventually.

edit - not an issue if I switch to a new FF profile, so that means there's some kind of setting/add-on/compatibility issue. Uninstalled NoScript (which I had disabled most of the time) but that didn't help.

edit 2 - copied all my profile folder data into a new profile folder, and after starting FF w/ the new profile the issue is gone. Hmm, now I'm confused. This "solves" the issue until a similar thing happens again (I think it happened a couple years ago w/ a few other sites after a FF upgrade), but I'd be interested to figure out why only NeoGAF was affected (or if it was just random based on some Javascript issues).

Random but, I cannot go to roadrunnerrecords.com with Firefox. Works in chrome.
I have cleared the cache, deleted cookies. Can't figure it out.
