With the help of Ubisoft, Hudson's Bomberman has found a new home on the DS, and is making the most of it. The new game, set to drop on June 21st of this year, utilizes all of the DS's new features to add a whole new dimension to the classic addictive puzzler.

Bomberman features eight-way wireless multiplay through one game cart. To prevent a clausterphobic gameplay experience, both DS screens are utilized to make the levels twice as large. The DS's microphone will also be used to give commands to Bomberman throughout the battle. Single-player mode will not go unloved, as Hudson has included 100 boards to play through.

Ummm.... looks like Bomberman? Didn't the bottom (or the top) screen have a 3D view of the 2D playing field last year at E3?

Very very excited about this.

Edit: what the hell is the 1up article talking about? First screens and info? We saw official screens months ago.

I think they mean of the announced-for-America version from UbiSoft. Of course there have been screens of the Japanese version, but I think they mean Ubi just announced their publishing of it and they released screens, also.

Too bad I stop caring about bomerman a long time ago.

But you cared enough to come into a thread about it to tell people you stopped caring about it a long time ago. Classic! :lol

Except that PSP has that feature too, and if it had a simple game like this I'm sure 8 through 1 cart would be feasible.

Ok, that's great then. When we're getting our 8-player bomberman on, you can keep jabbering about how that PSP "has that functionality too," then.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know why the PSP version of Puyo Pop Fever did NOT feature 8-player, single disc multi?

Man, so kickass. 8 way with single cart! This is soon going to be the must own NDS multiplayer game.

Actually, only 1 out of 8 people need to own it, which is the awesome part! :D

That really doesn't change the fact that it's going to be the must own NDS multiplayer game for everyone :P

Yeah, no doubt. The one-cart mutiplayer is a great feature, though, and can't be underestimated, imo. I've used the feature a lot already, and I can't wait until more games that feature it come out.

Also, it's the one thing that made me not totally want to puke about my Ridge Racer DS purchase.

Is it even possible to show 8 puyo fields on a single screen??
how doe sthe DS game work? 4 fields on each screen?

I could see myself getting it, as I like Bomberman and it sounds interesting (voice commands?). But I probably won't be able to appreciate multiplayer until games start going online.

Where is my Bomberman 64 port Hudson?

They abandoned the concept of 3D bomberman before it got a chance to fully mature. :(

Does anyone remember an old amiga game called bugbomber? It was basically a souped up version of a bomberman style game. Normally, I consider these kinds of rip-offs to be overcomplicated and dilute the concept, but man was bug bomber cool. It had you laying eggs, which used up your energy...you could lay a number of different eggs that ranged from something weak, up to something that hatched as a robot tank that would go around shoting stuff for you. Man, if I could remember the details tot hat game...whatever, it was still awesome.

although I love the idea of 8 player with one cart, I can't help but think this is fucked up economics by Hudson. If there is one game that people only buy for multiplayer, and not for single player, its Bomberman. so they may not sell many at all.

BTW, will this work with one cart across different region DSs? eg I have a Japanese one, will it work if I get friends to buy UK ones? (nobody has one yet, but this is a good reason to start!)

What about the GameCube Bomberman games, like Bomberman Jetters?

I'm not 100% about those, not having played them, though.

nope
just Local Wireless for now. Its out 3 or 4 moths before online
Actaully, the game's just been mysteriously delayed until October... online play seems likely now imo.

man. This will be killer/big in japan Hopefully the kart share feature is 1 kart multi?
Yep, it's 8 player multi off one card. DS is really a great multiplayer handheld, nearly every game has single card options.

This is awesome, hopefully after this they'll release a online sequel next year or so.
It's been delayed until October... the only reason I could see for that would be to include online play (a la Ultimate Card/Brain Games DS).
