First Burnout 4 pic

And about Burnout4, is there any "next-gen" version announced? There's definetely a PS2 / Xbox version coming.

yeah, it was in that EA PR or teleconference thing a while back.

I still say this is a next gen shot, but its based on a current gen game with a graphical shot in the arm, so its going to look like a half step between the two.

Ho please, how can anyone in his right mind (so obviously not Izzy) think this is a shot from a current generation title ? Especially a multiplatform title! Criterion might be coding wizards, but even a totally optimized Xbox engine would have a very hard time getting these graphics at 60 fps. It's a scan so it's difficult to judge the textures, but the bricks on the buildings look very detailed to me, and there is a quite high number of polygons on this screen, unless the stairs are done with a big texture...
Ho well, back to viral marketing for me.
Come on, Blimblim, what's to see in this shot. Maybe you have insider info on this, but I only have this scan to go on and I don't anything particularly special about the texturing, geometry or effects to make a definitive call that its next gen. Esp. if you're going to claim what we see here isn't even possible on a "totally optimized Xbox engine". There's nothing THAT good in this shot!

No buy

people expecting much more than this kind of step up for next gen are gonna be dissapointed...

No shit? I've seen some Ubi next-gen and you are the one that will be surprised. The step is at least "N64 to PS2" style. Next-gen is gonna look better quite alot.

Not the best pic,but just look at the buildings and then look at the BO4 shot, there really is no comparison,IMO.

Oh and Ninge is a developer,isn't he/she? :P

I have the mag right in front of me. If that's a PS2 game, it's looking good. But if that's a Xenon game - no buy. I'd expect more from the next gen Burnout.

There's more pics?

If the scan doesn't lie (and note that it well might), it really does just look like a current gen game + high res/better textures + AA + AF + a couple of better spot effects, like the reflection in the car. Poly-wise, it's certainly nothing this gen couldn't handle, especially with the distant fogging.

So I'm leaning on it being a Xenon game, but definitely a current-gen-to-Xenon port, with a few easy upgrades along the way (see above).

Have you seen next-gen Prince of Persia? How was it? :D

OMGTWF NEXT-GEN!!!

OK, the change in artstyle may be throwing me, but that certainly looks more impressive. Funnily enough, though, the IQ doesn't look as good as in the other shot :lol But yeah, that's better for sure.

edit - or else this isn't really a Burnout 4 pic? :(

You know how it looks in person? Like those good looking, additionally filtered, scaled down PS2 game pics - I kid you not. (i.e. GT4 with additional filtering in 400*300)

lol Just wanted to show people that almost anything looks good on a small sepia toned screenshot...
People so desperately want to see next-gen games that they see them everywhere. I suppose this means it's really time to shift (though personally i could take another year or 2 of the present gen)

one of the first official burnout 3 pics. it looks like next gen too, if you think that the burnout 4 shot looks like next gen. :lol

Wow, it's just one screenshot. It shows pretty much nothing, other than Burnout 3 can be put through a brown filter to look "gritty". I hope they don't tack on a lame story or anything. I just want some extremely kick ass car crashing..

The shot is an Xbox 360 grab.
Burnout four is planned for launch in the US and Europe.
The game will also hit PS2.

Indeed.

I must say, you have an awesome avatar. Did you make that? :lol

i'll hold off on serious criticism till more shots are released... but judging solely off of this one shot, where almost no real details can be gleamed, i'm not impressed

Stop this nosense for a second and try to think on the kind of physics and damage that Xenon's massive CPU power will allow to perform.

Yeah, that's better.

And never, ever, judge a game from a crappy scan. HQ captures should be out soon, just wait a little and trash it then if you like.

According to EA Netherlands - both. :)

I can't tell you what the shot is from though. So small and low quality, could be either.
It is widely known to be in development for both XB2 and current gen -- as with most EA titles -- the only question is which platform is the base.

Yea widely known since I published the EA releaselist on Xboxworld.nl and it got posted by IGN and the such! :D

Edit: Oops, I sound kinda smug now. :) Not intentional...

I think it looks great myself..considering they're not working with ATI final xbox2 GPU. That's if these are actually xbox2 screens

So what's the excuse this time for not doing a GC version, last time it was because of onlinACcentric reasons....this time i wonder what will it be.......this is zillion times better than need for speed u 2, they should just quit this series altogether....

That's exactly what a next gen title is. The shot looks great to me. I haven't seen those type of textures on the building in any current gen games.
