Looks great. Hope it is representative of the final product, I was prepared for some Madoka/Precure stuff (not that that is bad, but not for SM). 1st season best season.

Hopefully they keep all the reaction faces.

Terrible design. I hated the manga design too. The original anime series had a great design. For the new show I was hoping more for something like this:

It would have fit so perfect to the show and overall feel. Also they should have ditched the whole magic thing and just concentrate on Usagi being moe and Rei being hot as hell etc.

A KyoAni Sailor Moon?

Kill it with Mars Fire

Hopefully they modernize the show a little. Give mai waifu Ami an iPad, or smartphone. And I hope the personalities remain like the manga...Venus being utterly devoted to Moon, the girls not needing men, etc.

Have never seen the series in its entirety. Maybe I'll check out the old series before this comes out so I can join in on the comparison fun.

I've only seen enough Sailor Moon as a kid to know some of the main character names, but if they do a dragonball kai type thing with this new show I guess I'll check it out.

This will be all new animation, voice acting, and will have significant changes to the plot from the first anime in places.

If it's going to be like the manga I'll end up watching if it has next to no filler as in the 'bad guy every episode' routine, just one central enemy more or less for each arc. I can't finish the manga because the presentation is so bad, the cover art is awesome though. Pluto is the best.

On topic of the new presentation I like it a lot, especially if they do end up with some shadow effect like that in the image all the time to make the characters seem less flat, though I have my doubts.

This..this is a joke, right? It feels like one, I mean, the last thing we need is more anime that looks like K-On

EDIT: Reading through the thread, apparently not. Wow. That was interesting.

So is the manga any good? I've always known about this franchise but have never got into it. This might be a good time to start.

Re: Sailor Moon characters being sexualized: while I haven't watched the show in an eternity, I can't recall there being that much outside of the outfits. Like yeah the thigh skirts and boots are kind of ridiculous, but I don't recall the camera routinely framing the characters in sexualized ways. I don't recall "these characters are sexy" being a theme basically

Yes, it is. It is quite different compared to the anime. Hell, even though the characters are the same, their personalities are different. For example, Minako is like a leader for the inner senshis.

I should probably also ask what type of manga Sailor Moon is, since I seem to find different answers most of the time.

On topic: That art in the OP looks nice.

The wonderful world of animes. Back then 14 year-olds would pass of adults and fought some demons (Sailormoon, Yuyuhakusho). Now highschoolers look like gradeschoolers and 14 year-old looks like 10 year-old (K-On, Toradora)

The shit that was released outside of Japan was carefully chosen. Now that you are able to see everything that Japan produces it suddenly sucks. Let's see what the glorious year 1995 (Year of Ghost in the Shell and Evangelion) also brought into the world:

But please continue bitching about K-On being pedo shit that is killing the industry.

Chill. I made the same argument you make plenty of time. I brought up Sailormoon for the argument. I've my share of watching obscure animes in the 90s.

Ugh. This creepy pedo shit is why I can barely post around these parts without feeling like I'm in the den of perverts.

lol, pedo shit. They're in their late teens and the guy likes their wide hips. Yeah, those are real signs of pedophilia right there...

Doesn't that happen anyway?
I guess that last time I really looked up Sailor Moon stuff was before it aired on Cartoon Network it was like on channel 3?, but I'm pretty sure the good guys die multiple times and are just brought back by Moon at the end of each arc(I think I was looking up anime vs manga differences).

I'm not sure since I never saw the entire Sailor Moon saga. Just bits and pieces of the TV episodes and few of the movies. But if what I bolded is true then CLAMP is the opposite of it. They rarely, if ever resurrect dead characters. I'm still traumatized from the various version of "X" where bad things keep happening to the characters and the ending(s) were either horrifyingly cruel or at best, downright sad.

This is making all my teenage years coming back D:

I was prepared to see something horrible and distorted like what they are doing to Saint Seiya so I was relieved to see they are keeping it the same.

So is this a new series, or a reboot of the original series, or what?

I'm clueless. All I know is I'll be watching when it debuts.

You want to call Monster Monpiece pedo, that's totally fine, but come on. K-on isn't even close to pedo. There's like no sexualization and the characters are in their late teens. It's more comparable to something like My Little Pony than other perverted stuff that comes out of Japan. That's probably why it's so damn boring.

Sailor Moon on the other hand has implied underage sex and other stuff to satiate this den of perverts.

Haha, I wasn't in the US, did Evangelists make any fuss over Sailormoon when it came out in the States? Or did it get butchered enough to go unnoticed. The original manga and anime wasn't exactly that subtle over same-sex and underage romance there.

Super butchered. Oddly enough, they kept all the romantic implications between Uranus and Neptune but made them cousins.

Screw character designs, I want them to write it. A misanthropic and meta/postmodern Sailor Moon series would be so good.

And it would end abruptly and fans would have to wait in vain for any kind of resolution.

still salty over X/1999

Anyway, Mars was the hottest. No doubt about that.

K-on panders specifically to moe feelings. They are actually drawn to look like weirdly blossoming pre-pubescent girls, which is why all the pedo alarms are ringing. And not only that, they are "supposed" to be in highschool but act like babies. It's weird. lol
It's also weird that Sailormoon on the other hand makes 8 graders look all really tall and mature, but in general, in the old anime, they looked cute and acted their age (not a lot of huggy giggly cutesy stuff like you see in k-on or similar animes of these times).
They are both sexualized, but in different pathways, I think. K-on in the more "defile/defend my innocence" type of way, and sailormoon being more in a "hot and aggressive" way.

But I don't really like the style the new series is taking. :l The manga was kind of really spotty in quality and anatomy, and I hope they don't try to copy the source material TOO hard in that area. Also I believe most of the characters other than Usagi herself were underdeveloped in the manga, so I hope they spend more time developing and focusing on the other scouts.

Do you guys even read articles, cause lol ANN:

Might at least quote a fellow GAFer as a source, if not the true heroes:

God, I feel such like you know who for bitching, but let's stop giving English anime news sites free backlinks and traffic when they don't deserve it. Cause this is how their editorial staff feels about the leak:

LOL Zac.

I don't know, I'd compare it more to the chibi style than anything else, which isn't inherently sexual. That's just me though.

I've heard Japanese high schoolers from a few teachers over there that they actually are damn huggy and (to a lesser extent) giggly, even the boys. Might not have been that way during Sailormoon's time though.

I think. K-on in the more "defile/defend my innocence" type of way

That sounds far more interesting than what I watched. I think that's more a fan interpretation, but I of course have no idea what the creator's intent was.

Of course Sailor Moon is sexualized, just look at the title, "Sailor Moon," referring to the act of exposing one's buttocks to others, which is what they all do when they transform. I don't know how some of you people can watch such filth.
