First impressions of The Last of Us: Remastered (Game Informer)

No wonder Naughty Dogs haven't shared gameplay it's unlocked, this is a farce, the game is broken and they've been hiding it all in plain sight the whole time. This is why people shouldn't pre-order games, you're supporting these type of heinous lies. Can't even lock 60fps on the PS4, figures. Also confirms this will be a stealth multi-platform release, just like the Diablo fiasco.

I do think the game is a rock solid 60fps. I think ND put the 30fps option in there for those people who don't like the smoothness of 60fps. There is indeed discussion whether 60fps is cinematic or not especially after TR DE which gives the soap opera effect. For this reason I think ND built the option to turn it off.

Nice. Interesting they offer it locked and unlocked. Maybe 60fps with tearing vs locked 30 with no tearing vsync on?
 
So naughty dog gives us the extra option and in return they get hate and accusations of a poor running game.

New thing this gen? Lol. Most 60fps games last gen weren't actually locked to it.

On a side note, would be disappointing if this wasn't a solid (not necessarily locked) 60fps, given it's a port. Considering there's a 30fps lock option, I have a suspicion the 60fps won't be completely stable.

It's supposed to be a joke. A way of mocking people who think it's weird how little we've seen of this Remastered Edition less than 2 weeks before it ships, because you know, asking to see a game 2 weeks before it's release is really crazy.

Well they started out with "targeting" 60fps. Have they since then clearly said that they've reached locked 60? I only recall that one tweet about working hard to push it past 60.

Locked 60 frames was a pipe dream to begin with anyway. Don't act like you guys are surprised. There was no way the framerate wouldn't drop below 60 when you say blow up several enemies at once.

The best game last year and to many one of the best of all time is better looking and playing.

I'm shocked people are excited.
 
I'm pretty confident that it runs stable 60fps with so many Dogs talking about it on twitter and optimizing it to run above 60fps.
 
The touchpad button is used to open Joel’s backpack now, but the biggest change is the speaker. The controller will now play the click of the flashlight and audio recordings you find around the world. No longer will you have to stay in the menu to listen to them. They’ll continue playing from your controller while you continue with the game.

Also, wtf is up with people assuming the 60fps isn't stable just because they;'re offering the option to lock at 30fps? Some of the devs themselves have said they prefer 30fps, this is most likely just to give us the option. I can't see the framerate being as fluctuating as Tomb Raider or Killzone SF was.

PS4 can easily run this 1080p/60 . Its just you have to recode everything on an engine made from scrach for PS4. You can't just port a PS3 game and expect flawless performance ( we have to wait and see).

Thats why even strongest CPU/GPUs struggle to emulate PS2 games despite being 1000 times more powerful.
 
Never mind any of that shit, it's got a photomode!!!

Between this and Destiny the console screenshot thread is going be interesting viewing!

I really don't understand the want for this. Most games that ship with a horde mode (like BulletStorm), people always complain about it not having 'real' multiplayer modes, or co-op campaigns etc, that horde modes are cheap and lazy. What does hoard mode offer that playing through selected chapters on Grounded difficulty using the Chapter Select feature doesn't?

They need to pump more maps and weapons into Factions mode. Can't believe we haven't got maps based on the Hotel, Hotel Basement, Hospital/FireFly HQ or the 'real' shipping yard where you meet Robert (Wharf is crap).

On a more unrealistic dream, they should do a multiplayer mode like Factions but with Infected running around the map. There's be a lot more shivving and silenced weapons, or strategically thrown bombs to cause noise, if there were runners, stalkers and clickers and a bloater running around.

Not necessarily. If the game dips into the 50 range they could still introduce a locked 60 for people that want no drops at all. There were people that wanted a locked 30 for Tomb Raider even though that almost never got lower than 47.

You're going to last long here. Also, it's releasing at $50 and the first post says that textures, lighting, and draw distance have all been improved in addition to the resolution bump and higher frame rate.

Now maybe you can decrease the patronization rate in your posts. You know, considering you obviously didn't pay any attention to the OP before posting, or notice the thread is full of speculation, not fanboy gushing. :p

Hey I'm one of those people :/ ...but only for cutscenes! 60fps gameplay is amazing, but if the cutscenes were 30fps it's the best of both worlds!

I'm also not concerned this means there's is issue with (stable) 60fps, I think it's just giving as an option if we want, etc.

I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment with Uncharted if they think it will be a consistent 60fps.
