Who’s actually enjoying The Last of Us 2 remastered? No OT or anything?

I'm a huge fan of tlou franchise. I first played tlou p2 at launch and enjoyed it. I'm playing it again on PC but this time I think I'm going to drop it. It's one of those games which should be played only once. The second run isn't as thrilling in my opinion

I'm going to try it again on PC, I didn't try the first one due to the reviews being so bad but I really want to know how it feels to play these games with a keyboard and mouse. I'm assuming it's much better.

But man, watching these two trailers again reminded me why the game left such a sour taste on my mouth after I played it for the first time.
Naughty Dog's bait and switch by showing old Joel in scenes where he was younger or he straight up wasn't even a part of in the final product still feels fucking scummy to me to this day and almost straight up false advertisement...
I understand that they were trying to show the game while spoiling as little as they could, but I was honestly expecting a lot more Joel and Ellie in the game due to having seen these trailers, this is one of the main reasons I was so pissed with this game back in the day, I was so hyped to play it and then the disappointment hit me like a truck...
But I did end up enjoying the sections when Ellie was going on a rampage all by herself, every now and then I still replay Ellie's Seattle Day 2 because it feels like a modern Punisher game almost.

And technically and gameplay-wise the game is a masterpiece, every time I play it my jaw drops at how good the visuals and animations are, it's still hard for me to believe this and RDR2 were designed with the PS4's hardware in mind.
Can't wait to play ND's next game.

Re-watching the first season of the show really made me want to re-play this and give it another chance but man, I watched a brief recap and there's just so much I outright hate about it.

I didn't even enjoy the gameplay compared to the original, stealth in open areas is such a slog.

There is something weird going on with Sony's franchises. They feel different than they did 5 years ago.

Horizon and God of War become bloated in their last iterations, Spider-Man 2 was too similiar to the previous two games, and The Last of Us have gone too far with remaster and remake saturation.

It is poor franchise management. It's what happened to Halo and Gears.

They need to study how Nintendo does it, people are still going nutty over Mario platformers, 40 years later.

Maybe but Nintendo invented platforming PERFECTION in 1985. Who did it better prior? Name it

First doesn't mean best

Apple didn't invent the smart phone. They perfected it in 2007

It's just incredible how Druckmann fumbled this story by injecting his bizarre fetishes into it and trying to both-sides a classic revenge story, which just doesn't work.

It's all the more dumbfounding because the game is undeniably exciting at times. I'm sort of speedrunning it just to say I've played it and there is a sequence in the middle where Ellie corners someone in a hospital and then steals a boat to hunt down her target in an aquarium and it really is an incredible sequence. But then Chickzilla comes in and takes over and you have to look at her gross roid arms and the whole thing just becomes ridiculous again. Such a shame - this should have been one of the greatest games of all time.
Yep true. Just finished yesterday, like my initial impressions some parts are OK or even good at some times, but most of the story/characters are just plain and pointless, really it's just meh...
Gameplay didn't change much, action is good but also slow and tedious if you like exploring and not very rewarding just easily helps to bloat the game to double the length if you wanna see every corner... Very forgettable experience with some very good settings like the flooded hospital part.

The most disappointing part for me was how little the rope mechanic was used.

I don't understand why people thrash the writing in this game, while many of those same people would praise Xenoblade/Metaphors story for example. There was clearly a lot of effort into the story, characters and pacing of this game, much more so than 99% of the games that come out. I feel like the people who hate on the writing also don't understand it, that it's not a story about revenge but of Ellie angry at herself for her lack of understanding and immaturity. Leading her to never get a chance to forgive Joel. She puts this anger towards Abby not because she hates her or doing it for Joel, but because she selfishly thinks it would bring her closure and make her feel better for her regret.

it's because they're stupid.

Them using Joel joining her on her revenge quest as the stinger of the trailer is incredibly disingenuous. It works but I don't see how they felt good about that.

These types of edits are also not uncommon. Like the hulk being shown in infinity war trailers, or basically any movie with a mid-film twist will deceive you about what the story is really about. I won't give examples of the latter, but people act like PlayStation lied to offend them or trick them into buying the game, when the point was to keep the twist a surprise. otherwise you might be wondering, why isn't joel in the trailers.

Also, by the time this trailer came out, the game's story had already leaked. It was pretty much already everywhere and i think they needed to introduce some doubt about how valid the leaks were. So i don't think they should feel bad about it either.

MGS2 did similar thing to trick people in the trailers and the game is remembered as a classic.

I love the game but there was big amount if people super salty about it. I didn't like Kojimia pulling this as well but game overall is just masterpiece.

Played the original Part II release on PS4 Pro at launch, thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and the technical quality in the first part of the game, but with exception to the excellent space capsule scene. I found the story to be awful and Joel's whole thing to be so out of character.

Once I got to the second half and realised I had to play as Abby over the same time span, I got about an hour in, realised I don't give a crap anymore and literally listed the game on eBay that night. It's incredibly rare I don't finish things, I like to see things through, but I was done, I was spent, I thought it was nearly over already, I enjoyed the core gameplay and visuals but had no interest whatsoever in playing as Abby or dealing with her dull group; or suffering more clunky, on the nose characters or story beats. The whole story at this point felt infantile.

If they sold me the first half of the game remastered for half price with the cutscenes stripped out I'd buy it: "The Last Of Us Part II: Volume One (Barebones Edition)"

Finally watched the Grounded II doc last night and it was really cool. I love these behind the scenes docs with devs and Sony seems to put out the best ones between these and the GOW 2018 one.

Couple things:

-Laura Bailey is a bit melodramatic. Great actress, super hot, and I should've her expected to be that type. I'm disappointed in myself.
-Getting rid of crunch to satisfy the younger gens who get burned out by actually having to bust their ass for once? GTFO. And this is why games are taking so long I'm guessing, especially at Sony. Crunch is history.
-Halley Gross seems like she'd be a good freaky lay
-I liked the few words Druckmann gave about the potential 3rd game, specifically about how he has a concept, and that there would be a through line connecting them all together. Also he had plans for a separate story with Tommy? Count me the fuck in for that.

A whole new set of people are experiencing TLOUP2 on PS5 and PC. I long believe the game underperformed expectations, but with the success of the show, I think it probably ends up around where the original expectations would have been.

I feel like Naughty Dog could go back to be on the right foot, but I think they've taken undue risk with Intergalactic and need to consider some changes to quell undue controversy and that Neil should be big enough of a leader to accept changes in order to safeguard his employees.

So… grow her hair?

So… grow her hair?

You could have her grow her hair or just not have it shaved at all. That scene with her shaving her hair could easily be altered. The bigger problem however would probably be how the engine handles hair in a realistic way if it wasn't meant to. I'm sure someone thought it would be a good idea since the actress probably shaved her head and they were like, now we don't have to animate it and we can dedicate that to other things, but the backlash isn't worth it. Protecting the actresses feelings isn't worth people losing their jobs over.

Even casting her as part of Team Abby was a huge mistake, because people are already going to have a negative impression of her.

She has several looks you could go with that I think would play well in the game that will be less controversial

So much of it ironically has to do with how it looks like from behind though, but I don't think the answer is simply sticking your head in the sand and hoping things will blow over. That's how you lose people their jobs.

People didn't like the look of Sonic when he was first revealed and they changed it and the movie was successful.

They literally changed the visual model for Spider-Man between Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales/Spider-Man Remastered... Despite no one wanting them to do it.

Ellie looked too much like Ellen Page when they first showed her and they had to change her appearance a bit.

The problem is the actress who wants to be bald. She made an appearance in the last of us tv show as shaved; same in You. She may not want to be portrayed with long hair in anything anymore. Neil of course should be a leader here and force the change to keep people pacified and to prevent negative press. But it's also something that shouldn't matter, but it does because gamers are generally retarded.

I agree with everything you said here. It shouldn't matter, but it does and it's become a distraction that could cost people their jobs. Neil has to step in here and make the choice that protects people's jobs. He's lived through so much of this already with TLOUP2 and the cancellation of TLOU Online. Naughty Dog's next game really needs to be a commercial success.

While these people still probably won't buy it, it at least won't be as much of a distraction for the game.

I've listened to what the actresses has said on the subject and I see where she is coming from, but at the end of the day, I'm sure she doesn't want to be a factor for people losing their jobs.

Let's just take a step back and think about this for a second. We are talking about covering up a computer generated woman's head, who represents a bald woman in real life, with computer generated hair, to appease the angry men and save people's livelihoods. We want to do this in the land of the free…

I just finished the game for the first time and the gameplay is definitely improved over the first game and the environments/graphics are beautiful and breathtaking. However the story and characters are inferior to the first game. Also game is too long as half the game you're playing as Abby who I didn't care about much or any of the characters she comes across. Overall I liked it less than the first game but still overall a good game.

I'm to the point where I forget which version I played, last of us 2 is one of the best post apocalyptic third person shooters of all time. I am curious what they do with last of us 3.
